"Hey....Erm....Uh...You are....one of them, right? Those other people? I'm Eliza..."
At first, Fei thought it was just the shadow talking back to her.

"I know I call you Fei, but what is everyone else going to call you? I mean, we can't both be Fei."
"But... I am Fei."
"I'm the only one who calls you that. Come on, we need to have different names, and then we could be like, superheroes or something! Fei and... you! The other Fei! Person!"
"Oooh! Superheroes! Yes!"
"See, they can't call us both Fei. We can't be Fei and Fei."
"O...okay, but, I want a cool name!"
"Okay, come on, we have to think of one... how about Ceto?"
"Ceto? Like in the stories?"
"Yeah!"
"Isn't that like... a sea monster?"
"Oh... hmm... maybe Kie?"
"Key?"
"Kei."
"How do you spell it?"
"K-e-i?"
"So like... Fei with a K?"
"Hmm... I think they're too close. Oh, how about Evie!"
"...Evie?"
"Yeah, it's cool! I mean, if you still want to be Fei, I can be Evie..."
"It's cool"
"OK, I'll call you Evie, and I'll be Fei, ok? So now we won't have any more problems. It'll probably take some time to get used to, but I'll try to remember, and you too! Make sure to remember to remind me too."

"Are...you a demon? Is that why you are talking to....the others?"
The newly baptized Evie looked at the girl who had walked up behind her. Fei looked around Evie to see one of the maid animal girls looking at her expectantly. "Oh, um... ha ha..." Was she asking me a question?

"OMYGODYOUARETALKINGWITHDEMONSPLEASEDONTBURNME"
"I... what?"
"I WON'T TELL ANYONE I SWEAR! I'LL KEEP IT A SECRET, AND YOU WON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT ME AND YOU CAN TALK TO THE DEMONS ALL YOU WANT"
"She can't see me." Evie quickly chimed in, looking expectantly at Fei.
"No wait I can't talk to... demons? Like the bad monsters...? Um... this is... Evie. She's not a demon. Oh, you can't see her. Uh..."

"So, Raven, Companion of Seth...what is it that you have come here for? As you have probably noticed, the good Lord Edgar isn't very appealing to look at, and is quite useless outside of his castle realm!"

Raven smirked at the insult that the...horse man...yes, horse man had offered up to his fellow lord. He's not wrong. "We were cajoled in here," she informed Kane as she poured herself a healthy glass of the red wine on offer. "We were passing by and some...scaly woman got hold of us and brought us in here, surely only for the night. We'll probably be on our way tomorrow."

As she took a large sip, she had to strain to keep from spitting out the drink, unprepared for how strong and how bitter it would be on her mouth. Ugh! How do people drink this? There should be some sort of class on this at the Academy... "So I guess...we're here for the party?" Ugh. That sentence tastes worse then the wine.

Alexander was enjoying some food and drink when Kane had joined them and asked his question with Jade the tugging at his sleeve. He got the warning but figured it would be best to be honest.

"They are a modification I made yes, but I'm no lord. Actually I come from a family of metal workers, no nobility to it but we had something which was more than a lot of people could say. My family made them as a gift to me, something to remember them by while I was away. It is why I wear them with pride, not because they represent a title or claim to anything, but because they remind me of home and those I hold dear. I myself am a healer and student, so you needn't worry about me being a threat to your holdings.

Though if I may ask, what is your relationship to Lord Edgar? You two seem like very different people, with him taking leadership from a title and displays of wealth while you seem to lead due to physical strength and willpower. Yet the two of you act like competing friends trying to outdo one another. You talk of battle tomorrow yet it seems almost as if your fights are something of a friendly game of dominance between the two of you. I can't tell exactly if you are friends, enemies, neither, or both."

Before Nydia even had a chance to look around for the rest of the mages, she found herself swept off of her feet and carried back the way she had come by an incredibly large woman. "What if no one had seen you!? What if, I hadn't seen you?"The woman said, offering no other explanation for why she was doing this.

"Erm... I apologize for entering uninvited but I saw some companions of mine entering and.... Please if you'll just allow me to find them I shall take my leave soon after...... Perhaps you could at least find them for me and tell them I await them outside? Please, we have a task of utmost importance!" Nydia's pleas grew more and more desperate as the woman ignored her and continued to carry her along.

Soon they arrived at a room to which she kicked the door open and brought Nydia to a small tub of some unknown liquid. "Wh-what are you doing? I apologize for trespassing so please jus-" Nydia flailed and attempted to escape as best she could but the woman's grip was simply too firm... until she dropped Nydia into the tub. Thankfully it was only water in the tub but Nydia was still none too pleased to be in this situation. Just as she opened her mouth to voice her displeasure, the woman dumped a bucket of yet more cold water over her head which promptly shocked her into silence.

Before Nydia could regain her composure the woman had already left, saying something about finding a dress, which left Nydia alone in her soaked clothing and not entirely sure how to handle her current situation. Her first instinct was to escape while she could and try to find her comrades but in her current state she was more likely to catch a cold than her companions. And of course leaving her clothing behind was simply out of the question. "I suppose I have no choice then..." She muttered with a heavy sigh and sunk into the water. At least the woman seemed to mean her no harm and the bath water had a pleasant fragrance to it that she had not experienced in quite some time.

After resting for a few moments, Nydia got out of the tub and took a careful look around the room she was in. She would need to remove her clothes next and it would be unforgivable if someone else were in the room as she did so. Once she was reasonably sure she was alone, Nydia removed her robe and undergarments and deposited them in the hamper as she had been instructed. She was a bit hesitant at first as the robe was a gift from her father and so she would need to make sure to get it back. After that, she made sure to dry off quickly before anyone else came in the room and wrapped the towel around her body to cover herself. Hopefully, the woman would return soon with more clothing.

A few minutes after Nydia had found herself a towel, Onyx sashayed back into the room. She had a short version of an old style ballgown: a white off the shoulder dress with blue designs embroidered in a stiff skirt that was puffed out as much as you could without resorting to a cage. The silky taffeta ended at her knees, and she was provided with some modest kitten heels to wear. "Here, put this on. Hurry, hurry, I want to get in there in time to place my bets! You mages... so inconsiderate when it comes to time."

Alice jumped slightly when Drew started yelling at Eliza to go get drinks, though it would seem that something else had spooked the girl much more. So much so that when Drew had shouted at her she almost seemed to be happy to start quickly walking away from Fei, obviously not wanting to look back with anything.

"Mm...I get the feeling that girl is a bit more curious than her own good..." Alice began, noting that Eliza was now practically running away. "Uh...I think that something is very wrong with that girl that she had been speaking to...do you know her at all? Or what she might have said?" Alice asked, then listening to Drew's answers before he pulled her into a hug.

"Oh...uh....Thanks...." Alice said, blushing over the close moment as the pair were sitting there while Eliza made her way over. She was a little calmer, but still wide eyed and placing two bottles on the table, which Alice glanced at the girl, who started saying apologies before Alice cut her off.

"We'll go over it later...Just...leave the drinks." Alice said, only for then Drew to wrap an arm around her for things after the battle.

"I...uh...Well, thats....I mean, I think that...might be good. I mean, if you would like that kind of thing. Not that we need to, of course! Just....uh, here! This is good stuff! Its seasoned dragon meat! Very good, with a good...after taste." Alice tried to stop being uncomfortable about the situation, but was obvious about the redirect at this point.

"I hope you will see how you.....er, helped later. It will be a big surprise, I think. For everyone." While she was starting though, it seemed some tables were being moved and some shouting was going on. It seemed that some of the party had gotten an early start on the fighting, with some of the centaurs arm wrestling, and a few of the stone guardians and centaurs shouting with one another.

"Mm...fights before the fight? Always made no sense to me...what do you think, Lord Drew?"
"Ah, a bad habit, you say? I think it is actually what you could use more of. I mean, you obviously keep stepping back into it, so I guess it is something you prefer." Rosa replied, crossing her legs as she put down her glass and crossed her fingers, more contemplative than anything was her appearance for those who might not be familiar with her.

"And if you wanted to meet with Onyx, you could definitely be introduced, but I don't think you would like the meeting. You thought the slap you got before made your head spin, she'll make you dance by moving your legs for you until you get it. Course, I imagine you are more than willing to blindly jump into it, which I would find amusing to watch..." Rosa explained, a maid stepping by to drop off a few snacks for the table and exchanging the drinks that were empty around them.

"But at least you know your limits, because otherwise it would be a shame having to leave you lying on the table because you decided you could outdrink that man. Which at one point I would need to do. So, my mistaken wanderer, now that you've been properly...introduced to the world, where shall you proceed next? Obviously not here...or do you actually like this?"

As she asked the question, it seemed that someone behind them was happily announcing that he couldn't be beaten in a straight shot with a bow while moving. One of the maids had responded by throwing a potato and knocking the drink out of their hand. Apparently that was a sure sign of something, and they were being 'helped' to move their table as a golem shifted over to push the table aside as makeshift targets were set up.
"Mm...So you never relaxed before! Well, thats some kind of shame, isn't it? Shouldn't be doing that to your drinks, cause it kinda removes the point of...well, getting a drink!" The centaur said, obviously entertained by the younger mage clearing out his drink.

"Again, easy on the boy. Sheesh, makes me happy I'll be punching you out later so you can learn some manners! The boy doesn't want you hanging him up by his legs somewhere, or tying him to some table, or putting silly things in his drink!" The stone guard said, taking a deep drink of what he had before slamming it back on the table.

"Though, that is quite the trick....I am gonna guess from where you come from you are a shaman in training or something? I've seen things like that....a long time ago? Yeah, a long time ago."

"BAH! Nonsense! Our shamans don't do that, and I would bet this guy is all kinds of things with this wine. What ya do for work? Some kind of....purifier or something?" The centaur butted in, obviously the more rambunctious of the group. Though, not as rambunctious as a few tables over where things were being shifted over for room for more activities. While there still were a few dancers across the way that could have been had to move, it seemed that they were just going to do makeshift competitions instead.

"Heh, you know what that means, rock-boy? Means that pretty soon you and I are going to have to start drinking, and no stopping till the other drops!" The centaur said with a laugh.
Eliza's eyes had widened more than a tiny bit as she backed away from Fei, obviously not sure of what she was doing or who she was talking to, and Fei saying things that were...odd didn't help the situation. She was trying to back away to the closest door nearby, but it seemed that Fei wasn't going to just let her go out that door, so instead Eliza just went up against a wall.

Even as the party seemed to be changing gears into something different, apparently with new activities being made rather than planned for, and more drinks coming out of the kitchens than anything, Eliza seemed to keep herself locked on to what Fei was attempting to do, or when she might have been talking to something that wasn't there. She opened her mouth several times as if she was going to say something, but each time she attempted nothing seemed to come out.

For the time, she simply sat there looking at Fei, largely just hoping this wasn't going to get bad, and she wouldn't burn her or do something demonic, because she didn't think that would happen here with Lord Edgar. It shouldn't have!
"Ah, just for a bit of a relaxation then? Sounds like a plan, since I don't think I would want to stay here too long either. Don't get me wrong, some of the company can be great, but I imagine you are not too interested in that!" Kane said with a laugh, shaking his head as another meal was brought over to him to snack on.

"Ah, perfect! Thanks...You know, you don't quite strike me as the pair to be doing this kind of thing. Imagine the rest of the group is weighing ya down. I know how THAT can be sometimes. Don't worry though, I'm sure once ya get going things will look up. Besides, this castle is pretty big...just don't lose track of each other. Castle being big goes a couple ways!" Kane laughed again, obviously intending multiple meanings for what he was saying.

"Course, it would also depend on if you plan on participating in the battle later. If so, then I imagine you'll be sticking around much longer. Which means you might see more of me....which I'm not sure what you'll feel about that! Excuse me...need to deal with the good lord over here planning on taking the lands away from me!"

Seth gave an odd look at that. Strange things were going on here, and he was pretty sure he was missing them at this point. Trying to take lands? Doing this kind of thing which was...? Though, he was pretty sure he picked up on the big castle meanings. He wasn't sure if he could like this fellow, or dislike him for being so...honest? Though, when Raven made her face at the drink he couldn't help but smile.

"Let me guess....first time? I imagine this stuff is....very strong stuff. Could probably get you drunk pretty quickly if you took too much of it at once. Its...well, its the kind that hits after the fact, I think. You alright? I wonder if they have...some water or milks or something..." Seth said to Raven, kind of happy that things had slightly moved away from them and more towards Alexander.

Guy is good at gathering attention, which I'll take in any way I can here. Especially since he's the better spoken one at this point.

"Uh....Miss? YOU!" Seth said to a passing maid, getting her with a wave. OK, that worked "Could I get some juice please? Maybe some water or something as well? Thanks..." Seth began hoping that he knew what he was doing, especially when things began to get out of hand across the room. It brought a small smile to his face as it reminded him of the bars in town, or when things got out of hand or too many drunks. Meaning it was going to get extremely competitive and interesting.
Kane regarded Alexander for a moment more, listening to the lordly fellow before starting to laugh. It seemed that he had found the sentimentality of the emblems somewhat...humorous. It almost seemed as if he found them as some kind of elaborate joke. Jade seemed less concerned now that it seemed they had been explained, or at least distracted the centaur.

"So, family gifts? I would think they might actually intend to give ya something a bit....more useful. I mean, I got nothing from my line, but that might be because anything we woulda handed down became some kind of useless garbage to the next. Trinkets only work for their owners, meaning that passing em on is just asking for it to betray ya at the right moment." Kane said, swirling the liquid he had around and taking a drink as Alexander's other questions began. However, it seemed that Edgar had taken enough sitting back quietly and instead went to answer the question.

"HAH! You can say that perhaps we are the closest thing to friends in the godforsaken wasteland. It is more like we work together perfectly, with him being overtly obnoxious, snide, problematic, destructive, and just overall a problem. I am the better of us, of course. Course, I guess we'll get to see more proof of THAT later." Edgar said with a laugh, with Kane shooting him a quick glare before answering himself, getting his familiar mug.

"Our...'relationship' is that we know each other too well. Been through too much, killed too much, and overall have been in the same area too damn long for us to not do this at this point. Kinda just what has to happen eventually when you can't beat one another effectively! Course, it seems like...your compatriots don't tend to get along quite that well. Scattered in the winds, all over the place, in different groups...what in blazes IS your story? You don't make any sense so far."

Even as everything else seemed to be shifting about the lords and Alexander, it seemed that the question hung about a little heavier than anything else as far as the lords were concerned. While Kane made no attempt to hide that he found their arrival and what they intended, and even along what they were grouped together for to be completely strange. Edgar seemed to be enjoying a drink as the question hung, but he seemed interested in an answer as well.

"...Now that you've been properly...introduced to the world, where shall you proceed next?" Mug tipped to his lips, Joey paused. "This might've been the second time she's asked this." He considered persistence being one of her strongest qualities. Either that, or she was up to something. "What are you trying to get out of me, Rosa...?" He didn't immediately answer her. Instead, his eyes floated past the mistress, to notice a competition swelling behind her. Looked like something right up his alley, judging by the announcement.

"You should totally acquaint me with this Onyx girl. She sounds like a fun time." Fresh mug of ale in hand, he gave Rosa a passing smile, beckoning for her to watch as he meandered over to this impromptu contest. As he walked up, a potato narrowly sailed past him, leaving a smashed glass of drink in its wake. "Oi, hey, we shooting up over here?" He presented himself, His free hand unraveling the sack in his pocket. "Are we putting money down? You don't seem like much." He stated with a smirk. "Oh yeah?" the Centaur challenger scoffed and offered his bow, only for Joey to turn it down. "No thanks, my hands're full, see?" He took a swig from his mug before motioning for the nearby maid to toss up her serving tray.

The hand in his pocket flashed towards the airborne target. A collection of sharpened stone arrowheads seemed to gravitate around this hand. His middle, pointer, and thumb stretched out. "And yeah, my aim would have to be top notch, otherwise I wouldn't of survived out here for this long!" As he kept his eye on the centaur, one of the arrowheads shot out, striking the tray at the height of it's arc. THUNK! There was enough force to leave the stone embedded in the tray and alter its trajectory some. "Soooo...yeah." THUNKTHUNK! On its way back down, Joey managed to place two more of the arrowheads into the tray.

He gave the centaur a shrug as the maid caught the tray, a look on her face that seemed to wonder just what exactly happened. He approached her in between ale gulps, removing the heads with sharp pull through the air. "So what was the challenge? Hit a target while moving, right? I can do that. I just gotta finish my beer first." He replied to the centaur.

"Uh...I think that something is very wrong with that girl that she had been speaking to...do you know her at all? Or what she might have said?"

"Oh. Uh... that's my sister. She's... a bit eccentric at times. Really energetic." He laughed nervously, not quite sure what to say. "She could be saying anything. Tends to speak her mind all the time." He noticed Alice blushing, nudging her jokingly, trying to lighten the mood. "It's a sibling thing. You know how sisters are..."

Afterwards, he was taking a drink as Alice spoke, still nervous.
"I...uh...Well, thats....I mean, I think that...might be good. I mean, if you would like that kind of thing. Not that we need to, of course!"
He removed his arm, trying to ease her mind. "Alice, calm down. If you don't want to, we don't have-..." he was interrupted with a large piece of food shoved in his face.
"Just....uh, here! This is good stuff! Its seasoned dragon meat! Very good, with a good...after taste."
He laughed again as he took a bite, happy to let the subject change. You know, this is pretty good.... There was a bit of an awkward silence, but the conversation did eventually resume.

"I hope you will see how you.....er, helped later. It will be a big surprise, I think. For everyone."
"I do love a good surprise..." he said, wondering just what she was talking about. For all the talking about the fight, he had little idea of what it would actually be like. He also observed the various contests going on.

"Mm...fights before the fight? Always made no sense to me...what do you think, Lord Drew?"
He shrugged "Meh. A little fun and games never hurt anyone." He turned and watched Joey's display, impressed with his marksmanship. "Wow. Now THAT was impressive..." He turned back to Alice, finally deciding to satisfy his own curiosity. "So what exactly is the big event going to be like? A tournament? A big skirmish? Just a random outburst of violence? Or would you rather keep it a surprise for me?"

Nydia was relieved to see the woman return in short order, though Nydia failed to see how she was the inconsiderate one here. That thought was better kept to herself though so Nydia graciously accepted the dress and looked it over, finding it quite to her liking. She quickly slipped out of her towel and into her new dress, taking a moment to admire how it looked on her before slipping into the heels. It had been some time since she had worn a dress and even longer since she had worn heels so it felt rather strange and yet... comforting at the same time. She still had to find her companions but perhaps she could enjoy this event in the meantime.

"Thank you for the lovely gown, I quite like it. I am Nydia Freecs, Lightdweller Adept, and once again I apologize for my intrusion." Nydia said taking the time to introduce herself as she bowed slightly. As her gaze dropped she noticed the woman's scaled legs for the first time, though it was hardly the strangest thing she had seen thus far. "If I may ask, you mentioned something about placing a bet? I confess I have no idea what all this is about and I would appreciate it if you could tell me a bit more."

"Well I caught enough of your conversation with my compatriot that being vague would be rather pointless now. As I had said to Lord Edgar earlier we are not form here, that statement is true but does not exactly explain just how far away we come from. My friends and I are from a realm separated from this one long ago. The only way to enter this realm was through an ancient magical portal, and we were chosen for our skills. I myself was chosen for my ability to heal and the fact that I was one of the more well studied people there. We are here because we need to find out what is causing a storm to grow in our homeland, though this is not just any storm where I come from. It is a storm consisting of the magic of the elements that destroys anything in its path, and if we cannot find out what caused this storm to grow and cease it our world will likely be destroyed.

In fact at this point there is no reason to hide what I can do beyond heal the sick and injured. I am what is known as a Lightdweller, I manipulate light to my will, it is how I heal people. I can also condense it to light my way or to defend myself from attackers." To illustrate his point he created a small ball of light that would only be noticeable by himself, Jade, Edgar, and Kane. It was an incredibly dull glow but it was a glow nonetheless.

"Our group split up because we do not know this land at all as you can obviously imagine, and so we needed to explore a bit to scout and get our bearings somewhat. It is why I keep the suns with me especially now, to remind me of what I must do and why I must do it, and it is why I have no eyes on being a lord of this land. As nice as it can be it is not my home, and it is a home I plan on protecting. So I need to learn about your land and anything that might caught the storm of our land to grow. I have an idea but I can't confirm it yet."

"Hahah! So you mages do have some decency sometimes!" Onyx seemed quite pleased with something or herself, as she inspected Nydia's appearance. At least she was halfway comfortable in her dress: the woman with the freckles and the bigger of the two men acted like they had never seen formal wear in their lives. "Welcome what is currently known as Lord Edgar's castle, lady Freecs! Your uncivilized friends appeared here some hours ago now, and have spent some time with Lord Edgar going over random bits and things. I heard you're here for information, hmm? Some sort of magic storm where you come from? I also caught some questions about the Iron Mistress herself... she's gotten quite popular these days, hm? Anyways, I think they decided to wait for you here. Had themselves a good time, especially that Alexander one." Onyx smiled wide, revealing her sharp teeth. "You've all come at an interesting time. To witness some games between lords. And betting... well, gambling is all part of the fun. I would advise you and your friends to stay out of it though, no use in getting hurt so far from home" she grinned again, offering her arm to Nydia. "And this party..." she led her out into the party, which was quickly getting disorganized. "Is our little pre-victory dance."

All this talk about demons and stuff made Fei scared. She had taken refuge under one of the food tables (the dessert food table), and was quietly talking to Evie so no one would think she was crazy. [small]"Do you really think there are demons here?"[/small]
"I wonder what they'd look like. There's a lot of odd looking things... that look like they could be demons."
[small]"I hope they're not mean demons..."[/small]

"Partly, I suppose. It's one aspect of what I can do. Observe." An upward flick from one finger levitated the contents of Gabriel's glass up into the air, retaining the shape of the glass. "Water is a powerful but unobtrusive force. Without it, life as I know it could not exist. And much like its brother Air, many are only aware of it when they need it." Gabriel began to play with the water as he spoke. Under his direction, it changed shape; first a sphere, then a shield, then a sword, and finally back down into the glass without spilling a drop.

"What about yourselves? What are you capable of?"

The centaur walked over to Horatio, looking the mage over almost with a scoff as he hefted the bow, pointing it at Horatio almost dismissively.

"Congrats on throwing rocks at a target. When I go back home, I'll be sure to let the kids know they have some competition here." The centaur said with a laugh. "The reason that I'm using this is to prove some skill rather than just throwing stones at things. I imagine you can't even pull this back to fire at something NOT moving."

Pulling the bow back, and grabbing an arrow the centaur fired an arrow into a torch, neatly taking the top flaming part off the torch and slamming into the wall with a thunk some distance away.

"Guessing next you'll start showing me how you molded some stone into a nice little figure! So sure, lets see what ya got, since money is apparently what ya got lets see what you have!"

Rosa in the meantime sat back with a small look of approval towards the action that Horatio had fired off with the stones. While she did wince ever so slightly when the centaur showed no fear and also didn't care about Horatio's moves, she gave a small rise to her glass to show some form of respect.
Alice blinked, obviously surprised at the question that Drew had asked, only for a realization to suddenly dawn on her that Drew likely would have no idea what was going on.

"OH! Very sorry, Lord Drew. I would....I thought you had known! Very very sorry...." Alice said, also pleased with the idea of changing the main topic. "Well, this fight is going to be a big skirmish, I think is a suitable way to describe it. Its going to get bloody and dangerous, because...well, otherwise it isn't worth it, so the lords say."

Alice shifted in her seat to see as a group seemed to be rolling dice and then betting and all kinds of things. There were lots of shouts, boos, and all kinds of things going on. She laughed at one girl who seemed extremely celebratory and a centaur who looked less than enthusiastic. Suddenly realizing she had gotten distracted, she went back to Drew.

"The biggest part will be the first charge. Of course, there will be volleys and attacks which will be impressive. The castle will be...an interesting change. But the biggest part will be the ending in watching the aftermath. The losers have to watch over the field while everyone gets back up. Most embarrassing part for the loser, but that is part of the fun there. Not as much fun to participate but...not like you have any say at that point. Hopefully I won't get skewered like last time...that hurt. Of course, I hope I also don't have the dishonor of you seeing that happen to me. Would be dreadful, and nothing I could do about it either."
Kane and Edgar both listened intently at this point, neither bothering to hide the looks that they gave one another as they listened to Alexander's explanation of how they came there, what they were there to do and accomplish, and overall just what was going on. What surprised them perhaps the most is the general admittance of using powers which the both despite themselves both shared a look of disbelief. A look quickly changing to amazement when they saw the orb of light that was created from Alexander just lightly using his power. Those nearby the table all also seemed to pause and turn at the odd source of light.

"Well....I'll be damned a billion times over. Where the blazes ya get these bastards, Edgar? These....you can't use these for the battle. That is largely unfair!" Kane began, only for Edgar to quickly and almost casually smack Kane on the back of the head.

"Shut it, ya damned fool. They are here for guidance, and not going to participate in the damned battle. Gods burn you, ya act like I won't win tomorrow!" Kane grinned at that, but kept his silence as Edgar examined Alexander almost in a new light.

"You are an...interesting group then, Lord Alexander. The most interesting to arrive in a while, I would dare to say. I do know more than you think, but much less than you hope. However, you are quite...intriguing in your style with this particular group, and while you do not claim any sort of lordship, I think it would be much more suitable than those...petty holds that you have back at home." Edgar said, only for Kane to take this moment to now level a blow at Edgar.

"Damned fool indeed! The man is looking to keep his humble homeland, and doesn't need a damned castle." Kane scolded, and then regarded Alexander.

"So, Alexander...It sounds like you have a bit of a journey ahead of you. The answers that you will need are not going to be here, as much as the good EDGAR is going to try and say otherwise. There are a couple places ya could go, but not many who could get ya there. I think I might be able to do some of that, but...business first, of course." Kane said, leaning back for a moment and giving a small wave to Edgar.

"Hmph! If you don't mind Alexander, could you....put that out? There are some things which will make the others uncomfortable, and while I do not doubt your control, I can only imagine fire not far behind your light. That might cause a bit of a panic. But....could you go into more detail on the storms? On what they do and how it reacts? Have you seen the core of the storm? If not, that is fine, but I find I work better in going through my books when I have more than a big storm. Actually quite common in most novels. Lot of worlds end that way...I should count after we are done. Would probably be interesting."

Jade seemed to be even more impressed with Alexander than before, and grinned at the lights that he had made, playfully whispering to him as he did the lights. "So thats how you did that with your hands. Cheater." She teased, to then listen more closely as Alexander told the rest of the story on what was going on. It seemed to have dawned on her that the journey was going to be a lot more than just a quick trip, and she nodded a little more seriously as the lords seemed to now give a little more attention to Alexander and perhaps how he would play part in the world they were in now.

"That was quite the...introspective thought on water, actually." The centaur replied, leaning back a moment in the chair to take a drink. "Life comes from a lot of dependence on water, and the stuff is quite strong. Course, we also realize that missing that stuff makes us...well, weak."

Though, the stone guardian was much less impressed, giving a small laugh at when Gabriel said that life as they know it would not exist with it. With a small wave of his hand and flexing, he seemed to neatly challenge Gabriel.

"Sorry to break your world, boy, but I haven't depended on water for....as long as I've existed. And unless you know something about me that I don't, pretty sure I don't have any of the stuff inside either. So, lets do a bit of a something. Contest, if ya will." The stone man said, glancing around a moment before spotting the odd cat wandering about. Suddenly, he shifted into a grin.

"See that cat there? Lets see which one of us is the more effective in catching it with our means. You use your life-giving water, and I'll use my rock hands. See who gets their hands on it first using what they know. Sound like a plan to you?"

"Ah, ya know that isn't gonna be that fair a fight. Let me help the kid out. Listen, that cat is like any other damned animal wanderin this castle. Its got something its looking for, and ya just gotta figure out what and it'll come right to ya." The centaur advised, watching the rock guardian with a grin.

Isa seemed to enjoy the idea, and promptly tossed some coins on the table. "A bet for the mage!" Which suddenly seemed to prompt some surrounding tables to take note of what was going on. Shouts suddenly began to follow "A bet on the rock man!" "Bet for the boy! C'mon!" "BET ON THE ROCK!"
Meanwhile, the cat that seemed to be some source of attention didn't seem to realize that it had become part of a much bigger contest already. It had begun wandering about, rubbing and pushing against whatever it either wanted to bother or want attention from. As it made its way around, it had gotten to the front table, where Seth for a moment regarded picking the thing up as he had seen the whole debacle unfold. See if he could declare himself the winner.

Yeah, and while I'm at it I'd like to be outside doing something different. Well....maybe I can with no sight of anyone to stop...

Seth's thoughts paused as some doors opened to let in some new guests. Seth did a quick double take as he found it odd to see Nydia in much more...formal wear. He hadn't actually gotten a good look at her since he had traveled home with her! And even then, there was no fancy dress like she had now.

Though, ideas of escape also died with the woman who was with her. Dragon lady seemed to be in command of the party gathering group once again, and Seth got the feeling that he wasn't going to be escaping that any time soon. Though, he imagined that Nydia could do with a bit of 'saving' from dragon girl before she pushed her into something else.

"HEY! NYDIA! OVER HERE!" Seth shouted, an obvious attempt to get her attention over the loud amount of noise now coming from shouting bets, competitions being formed, and overall noise now happening in the large hall.

"Figure it ain't right she's gotta suffer with that dragon over there...imagine it wasn't any more fun than it was for us." Seth muttered a bit lower after having waved down Nydia to hopefully make her way over. In the meantime, a maid had brought over the drinks that he had asked for. He couldn't help but be surprised they actually knew what he was talking about when he asked for it.

Goddamned strange world we are in. I'd like to explore it a bit more, rather than stay here but....hey, relaxation time is relaxation time. Speaking of which, where did that shadow go...? Seth glanced about, noting that the shadow had oddly enough not been about for the party. Where could that damn thing go?

Meanwhile, under Fei's table a cat had wandered nearby, seeming to take in the party and push up against whatever thing seemed to be standing about, either wanting affection or wanting to annoy many of the patrons. Seeing as it had not found much in the way of fun at the front of the room, it had begun making its way to the food tables which Fei had taken shelter.

"OH! Very sorry, Lord Drew. I would....I thought you had known! Very very sorry.... Well, this fight is going to be a big skirmish, I think is a suitable way to describe it. Its going to get bloody and dangerous, because...well, otherwise it isn't worth it, so the lords say."

Drew shuffled uncomfortably, not quite thrilled at the idea of a battle right in front of them. Memories of the trial were still a little too fresh in his mind for that. "Sounds... unneeded." But who knows? Maybe this is how they settle disputes? It doesn't sound like a lot of the local lords are on the best terms...

At that moment, he noticed Alice was distracted. Rather than speak up, he looked around as well. He saw the affair with Joey escalate, and Gabe get into a game with a rock creature. It was then his eye caught Nydia, in attire similar to the rest of the group. She dresses up nice... he thought to himself.

It was then an idea struck. Drew realized he hadn't seen or heard from Cale that much during the gathering. No doubt skulking about in the corner or something.... He decided to cause a bit of mischief, getting out of his chair and looking for him. He saw him a bit of a distance away from the others, and he went behind him. With a quick motion, he tapped on his shoulder, whistling to get his attention, positioning himself in such a way that he'd see Nydia when he turned around. Normally Drew wouldn't concern himself with personal matters, but after a few drinks, he thought it might lead to something interesting. I might be reading what happened at the trial completely wrong... but if so, then there's no harm done.

He quickly got back to his table, Alice turning back around. He gestured for her to continue, holding up another drink to try and explain what he had been doing. He listened to the specifics of the battle, nodding his head and trying to visualize it while taking a sip. One part stopped that train of thought.

"Hopefully I won't get skewered like last time...that hurt. Of course, I hope I also don't have the dishonor of you seeing that happen to me. Would be dreadful, and nothing I could do about it either."

"Wait, what?!" he said, almost spitting out his drink. He shook his head, stopping himself from going any further, regaining his composure. "Uh... so, you'll be in the fight? Ok." He remembered her saying she wasn't frail. I guess taking impalement proves that.... His face was showing concern, and hints of conflict as well. However, he decided to just come out and say it

"Look... I can tell honor is a big part of this thing... so rather than dance around it, I'll just ask you: would it be disrespectful for me to offer help? I don't doubt your abilities, but... well, you said it was dangerous, and I like to be cautious. But you also said I was helpful... and to be blunt, I'm a bit afraid of using my own abilities in a combat situation."

He sighed, a embarrassed to admit that last part. He knew he was getting better at controlling his new magic, but he still remembered the first time he used it, with little time to prepare. The devastating results were something he really didn't want to replicate.

"This wouldn't cause any fire, too weak and contained to generate the heat necessary. Though my offensive abilities could create a flame quite easily though it has to hit something first." He said as he put the ball out by simply no longer putting any power into it.

"As for the storm, it is a swirling and chaotic mass of all our elements. Light, Dark, Fire, Water, Earth, and Wind. It tears up everything in its path and leaves nothing behind, nothing survives it, and there are only a few ways to safely navigate it. It has been growing for some time now, depending on how time passes here as opposed to back home it could be even worse. Most importantly it has some connection to a deity we call the Reaver. This was as much as I was able to fully confirm back in the city we came from.

There is also the more personal history of the storm's creation. Long before my lifetime there was a war that heavily involved mages. The war left a scar on the land, a storm composed of the magical elements. It is a reason much of humanity hates and fears magic, it was put to terrible use long ago. Though from your reaction to my display, I would doubt you would have any mention of this.

Any help I could receive would be appreciated, even were it just a point in the right direction and being told who to talk to." He then responded to Jade quietly.

"I could say that entering my head and implanting ideas might be a bit of cheating as well. Though we never did agree to any terms in the first place."

He followed the others but stayed back, unsure of what to do or what to say with all the things that were going on at once. He had been to celebrations before but not one like this. There were a number of creatures and beings at the party and Cale was a bit overwhelmed as he tried to scan this or look at that. So for fear of saying anything more foolish, Cale stuck to himself and grabbed a drink that was being served.

Cale looked around, unsure of what to do or where to start but also because somebody tapped him on the shoulder. He scanned as to who might have done it when he spotted Nydia some distance away. Cale was taken aback by how beautiful she was in her dress and the way that she looked. To Cale, being dressed up fit Nydia and made her even more pretty than she already was. So with a swig, Cale approached Nydia.

"Nydia, you look amazing." Cale said to her. "Can you believe all of this? Magical creatures and mythic beings all under one roof. I'm a bit overwhelmed." Cale said honestly.

It was definitely not the kind of drink to be trying to take in one gulp, that was for sure. Unfortunately for Raven, she found that out too late as she choked the liquid down. Seth was quick on the reaction too it, but Raven wasn't too pleased that now she was getting orders off the kids menu.

"I'll be fine," she coughed out once most of the wine had cleared her throat. "Don't worry about it. I can handle it."

What she couldn't handle was Seth calling out to the other Sunsucker. Granted Raven hadn't seen the woman in a while, almost thought she had been barbecued in the battle in the chamber, and she wasn't as...caustic as the other one, but still, any kind of Light was not pleasant, especially when trying to recover from the sting of the overwhelming gulp she took. She wasn't about to be shown up in front of her though. She refilled her glass with wine and took another, much smaller drink. This one, she could handle, although it still wasn't exactly pleasant.

Horatio seemed to be more interested in his own abilities than he was in the competition anymore, having the Centaur's boasts fall on mostly deaf ears. He snickered and tittered as the stones floated and danced and spun about the isolated orbit his hand was emitting. "Haha, are you seeing this-?" Apparently he wasn't, as the half-equine challenger extinguished the fire from a torch with nary but a well placed shot.

"Guessing next you'll start showing me how you molded some stone into a nice little figure!" Joey's face almost gleefully lit up. "Oh, do you actually wanna see-" "So sure, lets see what ya got, since money is apparently what ya got lets see what you have!" No, nope, he was still just being facetious. "Okay then. Lucky for you I just finished my beer." He tossed the empty mug over his shoulder. "Mazel tov!" He exclaimed as the glass shattered upon rushing into the hard floor. "By the way, have you tried that ale? S'really good stuff, though I know for a fact i'll be pissing like a race horse before the night's out amiright?" He added with a chuckle, swiping the bow from the centaur's hands.

"Ayyyy, this is a pretty well crafted bow y'got here. I may not lookit, but used to do archery before I was truly aware of my abilities, so I think I might know a thing or two...Really sturdy material here...with an impeccable draw weight. What is it, 75, 80, 85 pounds?" He returned the arrowheads to their respectful pouch, freeing up that hand to utilize the bow's string proper. "For a guy like you that shouldn't be a big deal." He presented himself with some of the arrows from the centaur's quiver. The waitress, still invested in this contest, perked up. "Throw up one of those mugs, yeah?" Horatio asked, nocking one of the arrows. She complied, and naturally, Joey released the string, hitting the glass head on. "Yeah, okay. Simple enough right? Now, throw like, three of them, away from you. Like, that way." He pointed, placing his remaining arrows in between his fingers.

She threw them, like he asked. Much farther out then he was expecting, however. "Whoa. She's got an arm on 'er!" He complemented, quickly taking aim. "One!" He shot the first arrow. "Two-!" Then launched the second. "And the hail mary pass-!" Lastly, the third arrow fired towards the third mug. As expected, the first arrow cleanly passed through its target, displaying enough force to shatter the glass. The second arrow wasn't as accurate, only grazing the glass it was intended for. The third arrow however, completely whiffed past its target. Horatio looked only partially impressed with his work. "Hm. Eh, I'm a little rusty. And a little drunk." He admitted with a shrug and a burp.

"See that cat there? Let's see which one of us is the more effective in catching it with our means. You use your life-giving water, and I'll use my rock hands. See who gets their hands on it first using what they know. Sound like a plan to you?"

"Ah, ya know that isn't gonna be that fair a fight. Let me help the kid out. Listen, that cat is like any other damned animal wanderin' this castle. It's got something it's looking for, and ya just gotta figure out what and it'll come right to ya."

Gabriel followed the stone knight's gaze: one of the cats wandering the castle. A contest? And people are already placing bets... not good. Still, the centaur's advice was sound. The cat almost definitely wanted something. Food, attention or maybe just a drink. Gabriel watched it wander about the place, from table to table.

"So... what if I say no?" he queried, curious. Isa provided the answer: "Well, first you deprive us of entertainment, which of course is a disappointment in and of itself. Then a good portion of us - myself included - lose money since our friend here wins the challenge by default. And third, it'd just be plain rude."

Gods forbid I might not want to do something I'm not entirely comfortable with... Gabriel gave a small sigh of resignation through his nose, but stood up all the same. The gesture did not do all that much to impress, as he wasn't particularly taller standing than when he had been seated. "Alright, rock-man, let's do this." Now, how best to lure it... may as well try to offer it something of everything. He commandeered a side plate from the table, pouring most of his glass of water into it.

Gabriel then caught the attention of a passing waitress: a girl sporting a pair of white cat's ears pointing up from under her hair and a tail in the same colour. She carried a platter of several different types of hors d'oeuvres in one hand, with expert balance. "May I?" Gabriel queried, indicating a small tray of something that looked meatish. The girl nodded, offering him the tray, and laughed when he took the whole thing. "Miniature skewers of roast dragon, goodsir," she explained.

"Thank you. Carry on." Food in one hand and water in the other, Gabriel found a spot on the floor, set the dishes down, and promptly took a seat himself. Instead of chasing the cat around, his plan was that it would come to him in good time. While he waited, he pulled the toothpick-sized skewers out of the meat, just in case his feline quarry bit down and accidentally pricked itself.

Nydia listened intently as the woman explained where they were and what her companions had been doing in her absence. Naturally, she was relieved to hear that they were safe here, though the woman's warning that they stay out of the games was a bit concerning.I suppose I'll just have to see for myself what this is all about.. She thought as she took the woman's arm with a smile and a word of thanks and was led back to the party.

She hadn't had much time to take it all in earlier, but what she saw now was... not quite the type of party she was used to. Not only were humans in the minority, but things seemed to be getting a bit rowdy as there seemed to be people practicing archery among other feats throughout the hall. It must have been part of the games and betting she had heard about.

"HEY! NYDIA! OVER HERE!"

As Nydia was taking in the sights, she heard a quite familiar voice calling her name. Turning her attention towards the source confirmed that it was indeed Seth, though she scarcely recognized him in his formal attire. Nydia turned to the dragon woman and bowed deeply to express her gratitude. "I truly appreciate your hospitality and lending me this lovely gown. I shall see to it that it is returned in good condition. I shall not keep you from your duties any longer, so thank you for everything." She said before making her way across the hall to where Seth was.

Along the way, a servant offered her a glass of wine which she graciously accepted. It was a party after all ,so such a thing seemed acceptable. Taking a sip, she noted that it was a tad bit stronger than she was used to but she enjoyed it none the less. Once she had arrived at the table Seth was at she gave a smile and a bow to him and to Raven as well whom Nydia had scarcely recognized as well. "Good day to you Seth and you as well Raven! I must say, those outfits look quite nice on you. I'm glad I was given this dress or I'd be the only one under dressed for this event"

Nydia was going to see if they knew a bit more about what exactly was going on here and who this Lord Edgar was, when she heard yet another familiar voice calling to her. "Nydia, you look amazing." She turned to see Cale had approached the table as well and he too was dressed much more formally than she was used to seeing.

"Ah, Cale! Th-thank you, it is kind of you to say so." She said giving him a bow as she felt her face flush slightly. Idle flattery was common to her for an event such as this, but such a sincere compliment had her a bit flustered. "You look quite dashing as well, I must say. Quite the departure from your usual attire but it certainly suits you. This party is indeed quite wondrous event, though the guests do make it much different than the type I am accustomed to."
