It would seem that the Escapist's thread display function reverted back to including YouTube videos using "HTTP" rather than "HTTPS" 🤷‍♂️
Also, for the person having a look at this;
You might also want to look at the function that encodes SPOILERS in base64, as spoilers also still have HTTP links in their encoded blob. I assumed that both normal posts and spoilers were parsed by the same functions, but apparently videos in spoilers were still broken even though they worked in normal posts. [small]A little something I seem to have overlooked when I pushed out a fix for it in my plugin...[/small]
Assuming the most direct way was used to encode this, you should be able to find it easily by searching for "base64_encode" on the Escapist's source files 🤷‍♂️
As much as I tend to delve into R&P topics, sometimes I just want to take a cold turkey break for my sanity's sake, and having OT and R&P glomped together made that very difficult. XD

We started approaching meta levels, almost to the point where the word dogwhistle became a dogwhistle - a concept I always found absurd that 0.1% of the population could rally behind therefore that word is now banned.

You should hang out in some far-right Discord channels. They've invented a whole new set of dogwhistles with the implied goal to fuck around and make spoken English more difficult. See what they did with the "Okay" symbol and multiply that by a hundred.

This is the kind of trolling I can get behind though. The absurdity of dogwhistles deserve all the scorn it can get, even if I don't agree with the political stance of those doing the trolling.
Tighten the noose your opponents have made for themselves.

Here's my problem with trolling like this. I totally believe the okay symbol was trolling. Then actual White Supremacist saw what you get away with and co-opted it.
So... The trolls were trolled. But since their trolls, it has to be someone else's fault.

And doubtless there are plenty of unsavory people who share your opinion on the topic. I don't think I could generalize and make that a statement against you, however.

I've no idea about what that's about, but it's long been a thing in the UK to use the same hand gesture holding the circle of forefinger and thumb against one's forehead to signal to someone that they're a dickhead.
The OK symbol was interesting, because it was basically handed to them. If you follow the timeline of events, a couple of far right figures used it in selfies in contexts where it obviously meant "OK", and Media Matters declared it was a dogwhistle to much mockery. The Media Matters article inspired Operation OKKK, which was basically 4chan trying to heavily promote the idea that Media Matters was right because the idea that the OK sign means white supremacy was so fundamentally silly to them that they put it up there with previous social media hoaxes they'd concocted like #FreeBleeding and the less successful #EndFathersDay.
They had another one they launched shortly afterward that didn't stick at all that claimed dabbing was a white supremacist sign, purported to represent doing a Roman salute while averting your eyes from the glory of Hitler or some such. But again, that one didn't spread at all. About a year ago, they also tried thumbs up = 14 (1 thumb above 4 fingers) = the 14 words and the peace sign = only 2 genders (two fingers up and the position of the thumb suggesting a G), neither of which stuck very well (though occasionally you can catch someone who believes the thumbs up one).
