Come now, you can use better words to describe those that think differently than you than "mouth breathers". Also cut the crap, nobody says "delays = bad game", but they do say "multiple delays, multiple missed promised dates on everything from beta builds to demos, and a lack of communication until the previously set ship dates three times now, and routinely leaving the same date up on their steam page for pre-purchase without that news anywhere on the page = a high chance of it being a shit game".

People whined with CDPR last year with the Witcher3 delay, but that was more because they didn't get ot play it than anything inheretly in the "delays = bad game" camp as you're trying to paint here
Most of what you listed is literally linked to delays, and then stating it as the reason that it's a bad game. Thus, mouth breathers who think "delays = bad game".

There's no evidence that it's a bad game, yet. The gameplay actually looks quite fun. The graphics were downgraded, but that happens to most games. It's also to be expected considering they set the scope too high.

And the point of my comment was to identify reasons as to why a sequel would be better.
If you simplify it down without context sure. But then again, you can simplify the plot of Bioshock down to a dumbass having daddy issues if you want to.

I mean, you did see the "lack of communication multiple times on multiple things" bit right?

That's not really surprising since Mighty No. 9 sold incredibly well before the kickstarter campaign was a week old. Hell, I'm surprised we didn't get to be upset about this news however-many months ago when Inafune tried to kickstart Bega-Ban Begends.

Once again: the person who writes for the official Sonic The Hedgehog twitter account proves that he/she is a genius:

At least finish the first game, you maniac.
This, basically. I was kind of excited about the first game a while ago, and then it was kickstarted and disappeared. Since then, i've lost all interest. Let's not work on sequels yet.

Well, he's right, Mighty No9 is "Not just a game." Its an extremely elaborate scam to bilk money out of starry-eyed fans by cashing on on nostalgia and Capcom's mismanagement of a beloved property.

Yep nothing says "good business model" than taking the "people who buy my product are all hopeless permavirgins" stance. Oh, wait, this isn't a sex robot he's selling? Then maybe its not the best business plan.
It's a joke. I mean comon. Whether your find it funny or not is irrelevant, since humor is subjective. But it's just a joke nothing to take so damn seriously. I guess their business plan was to aim their game at people with a sense of humor, which is the apparently the wrong demographic of the gaming community.

Because if anyone can take a joke, its the group that's been as ostracized as the gaming community(even more so) and when the genre they love mocks and makes fun of the otaku and nerd culture.

Also people who had no problem with the joke agreed that the jokes and the trailer was utter crap.

The real problem with the multiple delays for Mighty Number 9 are that... no matter how good the game might be it will absolutely never live up to expectations for it's lengthy development cycle, and that is the problem with a lot of crowdfunded games.

At the end of the day.. this is basically just another Megaman, there is no way a side-scrolling action platformer is going to be deep enough or enjoyable enough to warrant the development cycle it's had. It's not like Shenmue 3 which will be a massive open-world RPG, or Star Citizen (which has it's own problems, don't get me wrong).

Think back to when the next big indie thing was Fez... it got delayed like 2 years, and yeah, it's a nifty, fun little game, but there is no way it lived up to it's development cycle, and half the crowd-funded games nowadays are exactly like that. They are neat little ideas, that will probably be fun games, but then they have multiple delays and developmental problems and a nifty little game that was supposed to be out in a year now turns into a 3 or 4 year wait for what amounts to a game with the gameplay depth of something from the SNES.
I'm not saying it's impossible to make a retro side scroller with the depth, variety and shear value that would justify such a long development cycle. Media Molecule pulled it off a few times with their Little Big Planet Games, with their deep user customization and built in ability to develop your own content. I just don't think they have put together anything close to that with Mighty Number 9. It looks like a retro side scroller. woo hoo? I don't see enough people being willing to hand over money years in advance for a sequel.

I watch anime but I can tell you I wasn't offended at all. What I was offended about was how fucking shit the game looked.

Bloodstained has less than half of this games budget, and looks 100x better.

This is indeed just another Megaman, it got kickstarted on that very notion and people would do well not to forget this. They could have garnered 40 million, could have spend 10 years on it, but people should never forget that they are making just another Megaman game.

Putting everything on the developers seems unfair, consumers should also learn to keep their expectations in line with reality a bit more often.

Yeah, it's a joke. So's this:

Or this:

Doesn't change the fact that it's a joke based on denigrating your target demographic. If I want to appeal to people who vote Republican, I probably shouldn't be making jokes about how Republicans are all racists tin-foil-hat wearing gun-nuts. That's what I'd say if my target demographic were the Democrats.

So he wants to make two -separate- anime series based on two seperate versions of the same video game character? And they want to make a live action film? How long will this continue before Capcom finally brings down the hammer? As awful as the company is, I assumed they were throwing Inafune a bone, since he was originally just making a small time indie Megaman knock off. Now he wants to develop this into an entire franchise. Somehow, I can't see Capcom allowing this to develop into a major IP.

Bloodstained actually made more off its Kickstarter than MN9 did. Considering Iga also had a publishing partner from the get-go it's safe to say that the two probably have similar budgets by now. Nonetheless, Iga has been showing far better utilization of his resources. Hell, they're giving $60+ backers the E3 demo this week and the monthly updates have been showing steady progress. Then again considering Iga was able to bang out Castlevanias on a yearly basis on a showstring basis it's no wonder he's able to manage things well.

They need something new to hype up the sequel. What other thing can they use to insult a wide base of their customers?

Maybe something about how if you don't pre-order the game for the bonus content, you'll be more disappointed than your parents when you graduated with a liberal arts degree.
