As much as I loved the games those guys made, I am actually kinda happy I didn't try to fund this. I was actually planning on it later on, if there was enough interest in it becasue the pitch seemed lacklustre.

I do feel that anyone who uses Kickstarter to fund their projects take time to research the funding flow during the pledge process, and see how the money is going to be spent on the promotional gifts they are using to tempt funders.

With a name like "Shaker: An Old-School RPG," I'm surprised they didn't just spend $90 on RPGMaker VX Ace & make it with that. I know a handful of indie developers who've made some damn good Western 2D JRPGs with that thing.

They should have let it continue. The spike at the end of the funding period is huge. It's not as big as the start, but...well Project Eternity raised about a million in its final day. Not saying they'd have met their mark, but it might have had a better shot than they realized.
Yes, this other bigger group got a million dollars on their final day. Surely there's a pattern there!

...Though bringing up PE, perhaps If people weren't too busy fapping over it....

It sounds like they might have killed it on account of feedback(seems unlikely)
Seems very likely. This is the sort of thing that would tell you it's not prudent to go forward. Why double down on something people think is bad, when you can go back to the drawing board?

To this day I still feel that Schafer did not deserve to meet his goal, much less exceed it by the degree that it did.
Full Throttle, Psychonauts, Grim Fandango and a collaborator in Monkey Island. The guy's portfolio's epic what the hell are you talking about?!

That said, I bought into Shadowrun, Wasteland and Project Eternity out of developer recognition and game genre alone.

I wasn't so sure about Shaker though, I played Wizardry very briefly and it didn't catch my attention that much(the eight and seventh if I'm not mistaken.)

The pattern is that nearly every Kickstarter project sees a big spike in funding at the very end. It's near universal. Congratulations on your snarkiness, though. Don't you wither and die if you don't get at least one such comment in a day?

And Project Eternity was the only given example. You had a perfect opportunity to offer up an actual counterpoint rather than "it's near-universal [citation needed]." Of course, it still doesn't point to any validity to they notion that continuing was worth it. I guess just saying "It's valid because ponies" is almost as useful.

I backed this one and was a little surprised and disappointed by it's unexpected cancellation. Don't reallly know why they didn't let it run through to it's natural end and see if it made it or not. Ah well, at least Star Citizen and Project Eternity hit their goals. If only Nexus 2 had I would've been very happy indeed.

It's tragic that the big studios insist on giving us homogenised garbage instead of the kind of games we actually want. I realise that as predominantly a PC gamer I'm at a vast disadvantage already, but I'm so tired of playing shitty console ports with 7 years old graphics and a loading screen every 30 seconds. What happened to the cutting edge games that pushed PC gaming beyond the boundaries every generation, with Doom 3, Crysis and the rest? Even id with Rage made a shitty console game.
