I'll admit that there's a lot of crap out these days, but chances are there was a lot of crap back in the 'good ole days' too. The thing is, we just don't remember it. It hasn't stood the test of time, and so it's dropped out of our collective conscious, leaving only the classics. In a couple generations I'm sure the same thing will happen with modern kid's cartoons. The classics (like Spongebob, Early Fairly Odd Parents, Invader Zim) will be remembered, while the crap (too much to list, also I'd feel embarrassed that I knew all the titles) will be forgotten.
Also, how come no one's mentioned Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? Excluding the Nick ones, that's one of the best kid's game shows ever, and perhaps the best educational one. Also, does anyone know where I can find Where in Time episodes? I've found the poor theme song on YouTube, but so far no full eps. I loved it when I was 5, but I need to see it again before making a final judgment.

I got my first computer after seeing an episode of Chock-a-Block at the age of four, and decided that was the life for me.

I don't know about being more politically correct, I think Billy and Mandy is/was one of the ballsiest cartoons. They got away with saying ass on cartoon network. THE HORROR.

Dang it, root, put a spoiler or something on those, those things freak me out.
Was deliberate, and hey, I keep getting on probation for it. Rather unusual given the subject matter, but meh.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Inspector Gadget, and Transformers = win. Remember watching them as a kid all the time.

The 90's had some good shows that could be enjoyed by all ages, and are still notable:
Batman: the Animated Series
Reboot
Freakazoid
Beast Wars
Shadow Raiders(A lost gem)
Superman: The Animated Series

They were all excellent! Why'd they stop the quality work?

I'm having a baby boy this December.. I can't wait to see what sort of shows he gets into. I'm excited as hell that I get to relive my childhood through him! I will try to steer far far away from high school the musical, though.

Growing up for me was all about G.I.Joe, Transformers, Ninja Turtles, Garfield and Friends, Ren and Stimpy.. towards the end Batman the animated series.. although I may have been older at that point, it's still a good show to this day.

Oh man I remember Recess. Best American cartoon show ever. It had both humor for the kids watching and and adults. It's still awesome to me now even though it died it like '99 or something

I really liked game shows. Double Dare, Guts, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Figure it out, What Would you do, Wild and Crazy Kids, pretty much all of Nick's golden era ones. And as I've said before, Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego. Do it Rockapella!

Hm...First Cartoon Network for about 7 years with Tom & Jerry, Wacky Races (<3) Dexter's Lab, Johnny Bravo, Cow & Chicken, and a bunch of other stuff. Then that went digital here so I turned to Nickelodeon. Rocko's Modern Life, Ren & Stimpy, some more and my all time favourite (which I still watch today): The Angry Beavers!

EDIT: And of course 'Stop the Pigeon!' officially named (thanks wiki) "Dastardly and Muttley in Their Flying Machines". Man, I loved that show until a few years later, when I was watching the re-runs and realized it actually kinda sucked. :p Also, ran from '69 to '71? Damn, guess we got that real late over here.

I wake up every morning at 7.30 to watch Pokemon Diamond and Pearl double bill at 7.40 on ITV4 on a weekday morning, wishing it was as good as the first series, then fall asleep again. The Kanto series was the best for me.
Melaisis what do you think of Skunk Fu?

Uhmmm....this is my savantic knowledge thread, so I'm gonna try and stay quiet.

Let's put it this way. I grew up watching Kid's TV and I can probably name any theme song from 74 onwards, up til about 2000 odd when Cartoon Network etc. got all corporate.

But don't knock Dora. She rocks.

Put it this way, anyone else remember Hector's House, The Herbs, Barnaby, Fingerbobs?

And pffft....High School Musical? Fame did it decades ago.
The Herbs i remember...Fingerbobs...was that like Fingermouse?

anyway, high five to another kid's tv savant, was always my favourite round at the rag quiz, guess the theme tune...
