I think this is an insult and a challenge to us gamers. They're trying to throw the"OMG GAEMS MAKE U DUMMER" onto the whole thing about video games causing violence. World of Warcraft was created in 2004 if I recall correctly. And 'young' from the age of 16 means about 7-10, so provided you all understand where I'm going with this, you'll understand that the staff of the paper must hate WoW to condemn it.

This is sick. They're trying to pin the murder of a girl on a video game. Yeah because y'know after I've played an hour of WoW I feel like I've gotta go out and murder the young girl up the street because that happened all the time in WoW. Sad, sad day to be a gamer...
The worst part of this is that it even marginally excuses completely unacceptable behavior. For fucks sake, they are old enough to be entirely responsible for their actions, especially considering the sexually assaulted AND murdered a young woman just because they felt like doing it. Those guys hardly even qualify as human. I might LOVE playing Assassin's Creed II, but that would hardly justify my actions if I were to go on an axe-murdering spree. They (like me) ARE old enough to know the differenece between games and real life, but unlike me they did not CARE that killing a REAL person is a HORRENDOUS thing to do.

Commenting on the murder - that's terrible! What's even worse is the inherent evil of the criminal and the stupidity to think WoW was safer than MSN. Firstly, Why is MSN any less secure than WoW? Secondly, why is WoW any more secure than MSN?!

Commenting on the Games Made Him Evil thing - I don't care any more. These people will grow old and die, and then people who know, play and understand videogames from childhood will take the reins

Our day will come

Seriously? Blaming WoW for being to violent? I think this is the first time I've seen a rated teen game blamed for violence.

This is why I watch Global news. Way better than CTV. (although, they may be running with the "WoW makes you want to kill" story, too. Havn't watched the news today.)

Awww fuck. Rape/killers confess in World of Warcraft? I wonder how long it's going to be until we hear the end of this one.

Probably not for a while.

EDIT
It just shows how incredibly pathetic journalists are these days. Kid died - tragic. Horrible. First thing they ask is "can we make a connection to a video game? 'Cause our readers will lap that shit up."

It's disgusting, really.

That's stupidity multiplied by stupidity... Not only the two snots raped and murdered the girl, but they felt like bragging about it, over the internet, on a game that made it clear some time ago that all communication within it are logged for safety purposes. I hope they rot rot in prison and drop the soap a lot.

As for the whole 'vidiogaems did it!!1' trend, well... i seriously don't have strength any more to comment on such idiotic statements. Im pretty sure those two jerks also ate bread and pooped, maybe pooping turns people into murderers too?
First, I seriously lol'd at the pooping comment. But I digress...
These guys are the worst kind of assholes. They feel no remorse for their horrendous acts AND they make it easier for stupid asses to play the 'violent gamez r bad! derp!' card. There deserve to NEVER see the light of day again.
"They feel no remorse for their horrendous acts AND they make it easier for stupid asses to play the 'violent gamez r bad! derp!' card."

That's not the impression i got, the way i saw it, the fact that they played WoW was completely circumstantial, they did not intentionally try to use a video game to pawn off some of their responsibility for their actions. The details about WoW would have normally been found after someone went LOOKING for them, but in this case there was just no need to go looking, the circumstances did the work for the media.

Seriously? World of Warcraft's depictions of violence are about as real as High School Musical's depictions of teenage life.

I'm also shocked by the sheer stupidity of the rapists. "Yeah, it's safe to confess to this rape/murder on a video game, which has my email, name, and possibly my credit card number as well."

Couldn't agree more with OANST here. :/
And I couldn't find him to be any more of a jerk. Seriously though, this is a gaming site. If you see an article on here, it more than likely is talking about games. By his second post he used the phrase "half-ass whiny **** fest". That's not a sign of one's integrity.

Ya cause World of Warcraft is one of the most violent and vile video games ever created .... uh huh ... People really need to learn to think before they speak. Especially news reporters.

So, this person admits of having a fantasy to murder someone whilst they were young, but the prees skip this and attack WoW, a game about elves and dwarfs and the sword that got mentioned on South Park?

I think people need to drop this trend, soon, because I'll murder someone, and they'll blame DJ Hero for it...
Are you confessing?!, videogames made you do it along with violent rap music in the game!!

If someone committed a murder using textiles and sewing implements, would the media blame Kirby's Epic Yarn, probably the most lighthearted and innocent game there is?

As tragic as the story is, blaming WoW for it is a major wall banger. The boys ADMITTED to being mentally unwell and wanting to kill since being young, but the reporter must have omit that for a chance to use video games as a scapegoat.
/sarcasm/ Clearly by playing WoW they were encouraged to kill. By proxy, everyone who plays WoW is a brooding serial killer.

In short CORRELATION =/= CAUSATION

I think that all of the people who didn't game when they were kids (i.e. our parents and stuff) won't stop blaming stuff on games. The only real solution for this is to wait until they're all dead and the world is solely inhabited by gamers.
