Killing bugs - is it wrong?

No, it's fine. At the end of the day, they aren't sentient. They don't have emotions, they can't think, they don't enjoy life as we do. Killing them makes no difference, not even to them really. And don' forget, they wouldn't hesitate to kill you if they could.

That said, they should be killed quickly. Deliberately inflicting pain, while not only immoral, is an indication of a sick mind, and I don't tend to agree with killing them just for fun. A quick kill doesn't faze me at all, but seeing them wriggle and having to finish them off does disturb me a little.

I only really go out of my way to kill Wasps and Slaters (a kind of UK slang for woodlouse I think). Wasps because they are vicious noisy little buggers and Slaters because they get everywhere. Oh also we sometimes get some form of beetle in the house they get it too.

Everything else just tends to get shooed back outside. Spiders and the like get caught and put outside since they are awesome.

THEYRE ALL LIVING THINGS! the fact that theyre small and sometimes not as pretty as other creatures doesnt earn them the death penelty! just because you can, doesnt give you the right to take control over another creatures life and death! i was sitting with this kid in school on the field once, i saw him squash a spider, i was MORTIFIED, its just psycotic!

If they plan to annoy me in any way, then yes I'll kill it and forget about it. I don't kill insects if they don't pose any threat though, I try to pick up spiders with pieces of paper and stuff like that.

It's wrong to kill the harmless ones. It's not wrong to kill the harmful ones. If it's a snail or a worn, I wouldn't kill it. If it was a spider or a cockroach, yeah, I'd kill it.

If they annoy me, they die. I remember when my basement was under attack for a couple weeks. One sheet of paper has never laid waste to so many lives.

But sometimes I feel it would be manlier or a fun test of my control to pick up the bug with my hands and release it outside.

I try to respect all forms of life, but my fear sometimes gets the better off me :\

So im totally merciless against spiders and mosquitos (the bane of my existence in fact, I must have delicious blood cos they all go for me!!!!) and have trained my kitties to kill em on sight.
More then once my valiant kitties have saved my life from spiders obviously trying to assassinate me (seriously, the entire friggin room and they need to run in front of my face? Its like they WANT to die!)

It depends. If their colonizing in your house, you have a right to. If not... Well, then it depends. Ants I can understand, because their annoying, and blood suckers because those damn bites itch like a *****.

You can argue there are billions of humans, we can't reproduce nearly as fast as them, and we serve a much greater purpose than they do.
Do I say you could go into an ecosystem where there are no humans, bugs play an important role, and create a super animal that can counter it in every way? No. If the bugs are bothering you anywhere humans frequent, you have every right.

They're entirely instinctive. Meaning they don't feel pain, or any emotions.

There's nothing wrong with killing them, just don't go out of your way to kill tons of them because there's an eco system to be kept
