I prefer the Medic. Stronger armor, you run faster, and you can pick any secondary weapon you want, if you are the only one left. Like the crossbow or the katana. The last level of Medic takes awhile to level up, but it's definitely worth it.

My other two favorite classes are SS and demo. Both are at Level 5 and a lot of fun to play.

I main support over here.
AA-12 is pimp, or as I like to call it "20 shots of automatic rape to the face"
Have that and the hunting shotgun, and I'm sorted. (On normal at least)
Secondary as Commando.

The firebug doesn't kill the trash though. It simply takes too long for the fire to have any effect, particularly in the most effective bottleneck spots.

As for the demo - you aren't supposed to spam on the higher difficulties. As I said, LAW and pipebombs. The supports are built for close-range crowd control, which is really their purpose on the higher difficulties.
Hell, on a six player server one medic, one support and one demo were all that was needed as the two berserkers and commando kept running off in to the sunset to be annihilated.

Too many people play suicidal and HoE as if they're playing normal or hard.
There are other ways to win, you don't have to go with the tried and tested combinations. It's all about experimentation (on specimens ;)).

Because no one ever plays medic longer than a few rounds. They always take medic just to earn money. Either that, or they'll take medic for the extra armour and resistances and then beg for money so they can get a crossbow or something. I've never actually seen a medic who heals the other players.
Agree with the first sentence, going medic when joinning late for a round or 2 gets you enough cash to change to another class and get good guns.

But rest is quite subjective, if you've honestly never seen a medic that heals others then I can only conclude you're had the worst luck with medics you met. Those are just fail medics.

Or you could just take a level 5 plus perk and sell the weapon. SS gets a crossbow which sells for £600.

Or that, making going medic and asking for cash even more silly then it already is.

Except that HoE and Suicidal are worlds of difficulty higher than hard, let alone normal and easy. Experimentation doesn't work because you absolutely need the core classes.

At least, you need them if you want to get through the map at all.

The commando is only of any use once you have all those classes already set up. Against Fleshpounders it's useless, anything beyond normal and you're dead. Against scrakes, only if you avoid raging it, and none of the other classes have any trouble with with the smaller foes like clots, gorefasts, spiders, stalkers or husks to warrant needing a commando.
You must be playing with some sucky ass people or you're playing the commando all wrong. A commando using the SCAR can help greatly against the fleshpound if there is no Sharpshooter to help, and his skill to take a group of enemies out in a matter of second without having to worry about ammo is a great aid. He is in the long run more helpful than the demolitions guy.

I love Commando to bits (being the automatic weapons class, and me having a love of automatics) but all too often he isn't quite as good as the alternative of the Support (who can chew apart trash and big boys alike) so I tend to only play Commando on normal, and will swap between playing Support and Sharpshooter on Hard and above. I'm still trying to get down the finer points of playing LAR+M14 as you need to be very accurate with follow-up shots to make it good (where the HC+CB sharpshooter only needs that one HS to drop a Scrake, and a couple for the FP) but it's all good fun. And AA-12+Hunting Shotgun is an amazingly fun (and expensive) way to play Support.

Medic's also amazing - they're easily one of the most survivable classes in the game, being almost as fast as a Berzerker (while holding any weapon, mind you!) and their armor+healing ability makes them hard as hell to keep down so long as they don't let themselves get pinned.

Berzerker is fun except for when Crawlers show up. They can full-on Rambo and expect to live. They tear things up and, well, everyone wants to take an axe or sword to a zombie's face from time to time.. :D

Firebug and Demolition are my favourites, although I'll use Support and Sharppshooter for a change frequently.
I've never played online so I've not bothered with Medic and Commando seems a bit weak compared to the others.
