The games announced before this would be perfect for my wife, and our non-gamer family and friends. And now I'll have a little something for myself and my quasi-gamer friends!
What, your wife never gets the urge to kick someone in the face? :p

OT: Meh. I'm not crazy about it. If I want to do this kind of stuff, I'll get off my fat ass and learn it instead of flailing around in my living room. How long before some nutjob plays this enough to convince himself that he really is a Man Of Steel, and picks a fight with someone whose training involves more than slapping at pixels?

So Sony has "The Fight" and now Microsoft has "Fighters: Uncaged". Two equally unoriginal, mundane looking attempts at getting the core audience to accept Kinect and Move.

I actually do think it's possible to make a worthwhile game with motion controls, but we keep getting shown these awful efforts. I will support motion control when I see a game I want to play. Unfortunately no one is even close yet.

I can see this ending in tragedy.

Apart from the fact that it's teaching kids to beat others up, there's also the idea of muscles.

Any martial artist/gymnast will tell you about warming up first and there's gonna be some brawlers left in an awful lot of pain from their own muscles giving out.
Dear lord, I hope people aren't really going all out like you do when you spar in martial arts. Even if you spar you're not supposed to go all out.

I don't see a problem with this unless the person never moves.

Actually I've already had it happen to me. One of the motion sensing games in the arcade has a gunfight in a disco and it checks your body pattern to tell when you're ducking or not. I had severe muscle cramp after playing that for half an hour.
Oooh my god, was that the one where you played as a cop busting organised crime rings? I almost killed myself on that by ducking and slamming my head repeatedly into the cage it had round the side. Still, awesome game! More like that on the Kinect, please :)

OT, this is pretty much what I expected from the start. If they make a Street Fighter game for it, I may, for the first time since the original #2, play a character that isn't Chun Li, 'cos I aint doing the Lightning Kick :p

They've spelt 'exhausted' as 'exausted'.

Wait, maybe he was austed, and that punch made him not be austed, therefore he's exausted

HOORAY!

Finally a game that doesn't involve in cuddling cute lil-furballs or sports!

i can see the news "stories" now: games console teaches violence, child killed when tv falls on him cos he kicked it, sudden rise in number of cardiac arrests in 18 - 30 year olds.

i appreciate that they are trying, but unless there is no delay between motion in the real world and action in the game, it will be full of fail.

that not withstanding that there needs to be some feedback from the game to the user, if your strike is parried, your avatar will be in a different position that you are and that is just gonna cause problems. (like it does in wii sports resort)

The problem with games like this is the people making it assume that the motion controls alone will make the game worth playing. If Kinect games were controlled with a regular controller, it would be extremely boring.

Ah, so instead of flaying around mindlessly in front of your TV, you will no make punching motions toward it (or toward to opponent, depending on how this works out). Progress!
I foresee a whole heap of actual fights resulting from this, as well as general living room damage. Gotta love it...

I also wonder how many people will quit the game in frustration after they can't get their legs off the ground to do any meaningful kick maneuvers.

Also how would stuff like roundhouse kicks work since the physical act of doing so will remove your focus from the screen. Will the speed of your actions relate to power in game? I saw a video of this with the character even doing some flying kick moves, how the hell is the player supposed to do that? I'm guessing they'll make the person do some arbitrary move to 'active' special moves and if that happens HOW THE FUCK IS THAT DIFFERENT TO A CONTROLLER INPUT METHOD?

Fail.

That's the one. If you play that you really need a drink of water ready and a few limbering exercises first.

I want to play though this whole game only beating enemies via pelvic thrusting. It may hurt, but it'll be worth it.

The game can teach people actual Thai Boxing techniques? REALLY? Isn't that a bad thing? We'd have all these people walking around who all of a sudden know where to hit you to make your day SUCK.

Goodness I can just see some kid getting a hold of this and wanting to try out a move they did in the game. Of course that would speak to a good few games but with full motion control it would probably encourage them to try it even more.

I just don't see a full motion fighting game as a good game. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think so.

Over 70 different strikes will be at the player's disposal that use every part of the body, from punches, kicks, knee strikes, elbow strikes, and headbutts.

So does that that mean I can't invent my own attacks? So if I try and do something that isn't a pre-approved move he just won't do anything?

OH MY GOD! That was so much fun! Like I say, I looked like a twat and almost brained myself, but it's also a perfect example of motion controls as an amazing gaming experience. None of this Force Unleashed "your wiimote roughly guides what happens on screen!" bollocks :)

You've single-handedly made me go out to pre-order a Kinect for launch day now. I really hope they get a game like that and package it with a lightgun (like it should be, dammit!). It'll be so easy and so cool...

Well, it's at least the best game in the Kinect's library so far . Though, that's saying very little.
