So Sony has "The Fight" and now Microsoft has "Fighters: Uncaged". Two equally unoriginal, mundane looking attempts at getting the core audience to accept Kinect and Move.

I actually do think it's possible to make a worthwhile game with motion controls, but we keep getting shown these awful efforts. I will support motion control when I see a game I want to play. Unfortunately no one is even close yet.
The difference here being, Sony already has a ton of games in the pipeline for the Move aimed at their core; the Time Crisis bundlepack, The Shoot, The Fight, the new SOCOM game, etc. Hell, even their obligatory launch sports package has a freaking Gladiator fighting mode! Kinect was sorely lacking in, well, ANYTHING for their hardcore gamer audience, which up till now has been their bread and butter. I say good for Microsoft; they NEED this right now, especially after how this summer's gone for them re: exclusive games & studios.

Bah. I say let the motion sensor trend die out already and go out and have a real bar brawl if you're that desperate for a little hand-to-hand combat. Works fine for me.

Finally, a way to make my years of Muay Thai training pay off in a video game... However I do hope this video game is going to you know... Give a warm up session before the game starts... Otherwise a lot of kids are going to be pulling a lot of muscles. Ho well... Sort of looking forward to this. I guess it's a way to brush up on skills while bored at home, could be a decent work out session while still being a video game.

Could be fun when you`re drunk nothing quite like the art of wailing on someone with absolutley no power in either of your hits until one of you forgets how to stay upright

I smell a load of lag.

Seriously, from what I've seen of some Kinect videos, depending on the games, there's a serious delay in the person's actions and the screen's reaction.

This is really just coming off as a little worrying to be perfectly honest. Microsoft has hardly shown anything that appeals to the "hardcore" and shown a ton of things for the "casual" crowd, yet they expect "core" people to buy it first with few if any real "core" games supporting it. It's all just a hugeass hodgepodge of a mess.

Say what you will of Sony's Move, at least they have a library of support [http://www.pushsquare.com/17603/lets-look-at-the-46-games-announced-confirmed-to-support-playstation-move-in-some-way/] (some highlights, Killzone 3, LBP1 and 2, SOCOM 4, Sly Collection, Resident Evil 5, Heavy Rain. That's support).

The Kinect is giving off a really bad vibe for me. Microsoft have no idea who they want to target or how they're going to market it and it's leaving a very sour taste in my mouth thinking that Kinect is just going to flop. I really want it to succeed, I really do, but the Microsoft marketing department is going crazy here.

Any martial artist/gymnast will tell you about warming up first and there's gonna be some brawlers left in an awful lot of pain from their own muscles giving out.
Who knows, maybe there will be a skippable warm up before said game.

I'm reserving judgment on kinect until the reviews of that lightsaber combat game they showed at E3 come out... that has the potential to be worth getting kinect completely for its own sake.

haha, consider this quote stolen, i shall now be using it for my own nefarious needs...

Also, the motion detecting lightgun game everyone is referring to is "Police 911" or for those of us in the UK, "Police 24/7"

it is a good fun game that encourages you to move a bit and i'm all for that.
If this Kinect brawler isn't a pile of nonsense, i'll be interested but as mentioned above, i think the limitations of the medium will stop me enjoying it as much as i could.

This game looks familiar... Oh yeah, I played it in '03, on the PS2. As I recall, the most effective strategy was to perform jumping jacks in front of the Eyetoy, which would register as a series of deadly uppercuts.

While this certainly looks pretty cool I don't think most people will be able to play it for very long. Don't believe me? Get up start punching and kicking the air for two minutes straight. Still this sounds like it could be a really great way to get some exercise.

Hey! It'd be cool if you could do split screen versus!
Oh, wait, you may as well just actually fight...

Just what I was thinking, instead of being so negative and assuming the future FOX reports about this game training kids to be violent killers to be true, how about we look on it as a way to get kids off the couch and at least moving around a bit?

I'm not really a fan of the idea of kinect or..the other one, but I have an eyetoy, which was great fun for a few days, then got put in the cupboard and I am not seeing this revolutionise gaming.

YES!! Motion games are finally put to use!!

There's a few styles of martial arts I want to learn and not all of them have easily accessible trainers. This is what Kinect should be used for.

Was debating it a while back actually, my thoughts were that if they did something like this it would be win. And it so is. Especially since there's no controller involved with Kinect, it uses your body.

Yoga (I wouldn't buy it, but going by the amount of underweight, insecure females who lapped up WiiFit, this would sell like crazy), martial arts, basic reaction and reflex training. This could be awesome.

The game can teach people actual Thai Boxing techniques? REALLY? Isn't that a bad thing? We'd have all these people walking around who all of a sudden know where to hit you to make your day SUCK.

Goodness I can just see some kid getting a hold of this and wanting to try out a move they did in the game. Of course that would speak to a good few games but with full motion control it would probably encourage them to try it even more.

I just don't see a full motion fighting game as a good game. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think so.
The hell? Why.. B..

'deep breaths'

Ok, the amount of people here who seem to think this is a bad idea is.. More than there should be. Give me a decent non FUD reason that an intelligent game is a bad thing? There's a page up here with people saying concealed carry laws are good, and then there's all of you saying a game teaching Thai Boxing is a bad thing?

Come on people, we've been, for years now, calling for video games to go to their full potential. Not some bouncy, IQ <20 need only apply console FPS, but to be the medium they can be. That games can be art, educational, that games aren't a complete waste of time. So that is finally happening and there's now a thread full of OH NOES!! XBOX KID IS GOING TO KICK ME WITH HIS L337 THAI BOXING SKILLZ!!1

Dear lord, I hope people aren't really going all out like you do when you spar in martial arts. Even if you spar you're not supposed to go all out.
If a thing's worth doing, it's worth overdoing ;)
Heh, this I agree with fully.

If you're sparring.. Well it's a combat sport, pull on a helmet and some gloves and lets beat each other up. Nicely of course :p
If you don't want to get hit, you don't spar. Having said that, tornado kick to the temple is out, we want to spar, not kill each other. But anything apart from that :D
