Kinect Hack Spawns First Minority Report Style Interface

First time done with Kinect yeah, but this system has been done and redone 100x of times.
And they all got to the same conclusion:
- extremely inaccurate
- only cool for 10 minutes (there is no way you will be standing, waving your arms in the air and working on something for several hours)

I know I can't be the only one thinking MMOs like WoW would be interesting with this kind of interface.

Seems like it would be dangerous using an interface like this while holding a hot pocket.

I actually just tried this, using the mouse in one hand and pretending to use to other as the mouse. My hand got kinda tired, and there needs to be some way to click better than poking forward. Maybe snapping to do something would work. It is cool.

I could swear that Sony had a tech demo showing them using the Move to do the same thing, only faster and more smoothly.

Maybe if M$ releases some gloves that lets the Kinect recognize such tiny movements, then we'd be in business. We'd get Minority Report experience, and they'd get an extra $50 bucks out of everyone. Kinda like Wii's Motion-Plus, they can call it Kinect Plus or something.

Because it is the next generation of gaming controllers? Umm... Just looking how you need to keep your hands for it to recognize them, people with shoulder problems, or other hand muscular issues (like me) can't use that controller. So clearly this system is not fit for everyone and I can go and buy one and then sue the shit out of microsoft since they did not specify that people with my condition can't play with it?

Yeah, it is supposed to be able to bring gaming to the people who don't know/can't use normal controllers. Aka, elderly people and??? Casual gamers can learn to use controller if they know how to use their TV's remote.

Maybe if I get ganked and lose my temper. Foot recognition and macros are all I'd need to get around any other foreseeable problems. Hooray for lazy!

I think its ironic that something thats meant to be used as a gaming device to make money off of the success of Nintendos motion technology uproar is being used in such creative ways. Granted, the performance was a bit buggy, but still. Very impressive indeed.

Could be the first real steps towards projected UI's for computers and such. All that SciFi stuff. Its just interesting that Microsoft is using this technology to sell shovelware and family games to a demographic thats not that interested (both hardcore gamers, who dont want that stuff, and casuals, who have a Wii).

You mean aside from the fact that having to put on gloves in order to use a computer would be a step backwards in terms of convenience?
