One can only surmise that the House of Gates would be somewhat less pleased to see its technology working on the hardware of its biggest rival, but what can Microsoft really do about it?
I don't think it's Microsoft that the guy has to worry about. It's Sony, and how hard they are going to sue him for whatever custom firmware or whatever he did to get the PS3 to support Kinect.

Pretty cool stuff he did, though. But I'll stick with my move for Killzone 3.
To be honest, looking at what that video shows I suspect what's really happening here is the following:

1. Kinect attached to laptop PC, programmed to recognise certain types of moves.

2.The laptop PC is pretending to be a PS3 controller, and is translating the moves recognised by kinect into controller input.

3. The PS3 doesn't know it's controller input is being faked by a PC.

That actually suggests to me that you could do other things with the tech involved here too...

A PC AI playing a PS3 anyone? XD

Dont worry. Sony will find a way to block this soon enough claiming it is not properly licensed hardware and by doing so it is a breach of the EULA they just wrote to make it so.

Gamer community knocks down the Ps3, hideous lawsuits.
A few months later, Gamer community knocks down the Kinect... maybe sometimes we DO have this coming.

If I were Microsoft I would release something along the lines of "We support the community finding many way to use our hardware even if it is with our competitors hardware." Then When Sony comes along and and sues this guy for hacking release another statement "We are appalled by the actions taken by our competitor Sony which discourages exploration of their Hardware and technology in general. We would like to stress that we fully support our costumers right to modify our hardware and or software which they purchased and legally own. However, we will not tolerate cheating nor will we tolerate piracy"

If it sells more Kinects, Microsoft can't complain. If it's further hacked to work with a single or pair of Move controllers, Sony has less to gripe about. If it's used on more than one or two games, it's worth following up on.

This has potential to become a win for just about everyone. Right now, it's an odd bit of kit, for certain. Needs more salt, and more time in the kettle.

Obviously this person is willfully and wantonly modifying his PS3 in a blatant violation of the agreement he made to Sony to NOT tamper with his PS3 and the PSN. As a result Sony is well within it's legal and moral rights to sue this person into financial oblivion.

I have news for all the haters out there. You can thank Geohotz for making it possible to install packages onto this users console. Microsoft may have something to say about it, but you better believe that it will be Sony who puts an end to it.
