Kinect Is Not For You

To use a gun analogy most people would understand, the Kinect is a shotgun, meant to have a wide spread but not much range (Your mom will play maybe 2 games on it and ignore the rest of what Microsoft has to offer in regular games such as GoW or Halo), It's not as tough everyone will stop making games for the regular controller (They're too used to it anyway), but many developers may add Kinect Functionality to their games.

I called this about halfway through the original milo based Natal announcement trailer.

You want to know why M$ is chasing a new market? Because you won't buy anything unless it's got Halo, Gears of War or CoD in the title! AND even worse, you actively prevent any new buyers from joining the market!
'Core Gamers' have developed such an unwarranted superiority complex that not only will you not buy anything unless they lick your arse in its production and marketing, but you'll then shit all their saliva over anyone new who try's to give them some money!
Remember when you first started playing games. Think back to how exciting, fun, new and difficult it all was! Now imagine trying to learn all that with some arrogant narcissist calling you a noob, demanding that you leave the real games to gamers and get back to farmville.
You think that you're the pillars of the gaming industry, holding it high on your mighty shoulders? You're just a nail in it's coffin. Get over yourselves.
Oh and the thought you guys are having that 'if it makes money they'll spend it on a new Halo game' is fucking ridiculous! If it makes money they'll spend it on a new Kinect game, because that's what made the money! If anything it's success would only further remove you from the equation.

I didn't say MS sold out because of kids. I said the last thing live needs is more kids. Kinect will invite them. It is going to suck. Sony hasn't sold out because Move really isn't a cutsie kids thing, its really just an alternate controller. The companies aren't really selling out, they're just selling out their core fans. Speaking as someone who doesn't actually own an Xbox, I can't say that the Kinect is making me want to buy one. This is not just because I can't really afford another console, it's because I still want, well, 'proper' games. My faithful PS3 has served me well so far, and Microsoft is going to have to come out with something pretty special (in fact, several somethings pretty special) in the 'core' gaming field (*not* the family/social field) to make me shell out for their product.
I agree that Microsoft is totally selling out with Kinect, the point where are arguments diverge is the idea that Move is any less of a motion control selloutCORRODED SIN said:

Seriously though, it looks like you're right, or at the very least, much closer to the mark than I was, I thought Move was just another Kinect, looks like it isn't. I still do prefer the 360 over the PS3 though.
Thank you. I prefer the 360 over the PS3 mainly because of the controller (its just preference), but I think I would like Move more then Kinect. You can use a PS3 controller with Move, so it brings the price down on top of having good games that work with it.danpascooch said:
