I really want to play this. Mostly just to find out if that really is Zack from FF7 and also because I love the Kingdom Hearts series. But I don't have PSP unfortunately. Guess I've got to save up and get one.
Well, I can answer the first thing right now. Nope, not Zack. That's a new character named Terra. Kinda like how that guy who looks exactly like Roxas is actually a new character called Ven. Only Ven looking like Roxas is probably going to be important to the story.
...Isn't Terra a girl's name?

The DS game kinda hints at Sora being a reincarnation of sorts of Ventus, which is probably why Roxas looks like him. Also Terra isn't completely new, he was a secret boss in KH2 final mix (though his face was hidden by a helmet), and also appeared in the bonus endings of KH2 final mix and vanilla KH2. And yeah, there's yet another species of enemies to supplement the heartlesses and nobodies.

We'll also get to see some of the 13 back when they were normal boring humans.

It might be gender neutral. Or Noruma doesn't care. Either or.

The Funk's got a bit of wrong info up there. The guy that looks like Roxas from KHII is actually a guy named Ventus, and seeing as the game is a prequel to the series as we know it right now, it'd be next to impossible for it to actually be Roxas. Also, the Heartless are sure to make an appearance, maybe Nobodies too, but a new type of enemy, called Unbirths, are going to join the fray, so I'd assume they're the major enemies in this installment, entitling them to the majority of having-one's-ass-kicked. [/fanboy]

Aside from that, I'm really excited for this game.

Terra is Latin for land. Speculating fans have come up with connections between Terra, Aqua and Ven[tus] (Land, Water, and Wind) and Sora, Kairi and Riku (Sky, Ocean(?), and Earth). Though on the topic of what gender it aligns to, I don't think anyone actually gets named Terra. It could be short for something, though. In which case, probably a girl.

Seeing that Disney has bought out Marvel now...will you get Spider-man as a summon? I'm just curious.

Anyways, looks pretty impressive, I'll definetely get it when it comes out.

Incidentally, this trailer has been out for a while now, a GOOD while, but anyways thanks for telling us all the same.

Re Marvel, obviously it won't happen. the game's coming out in a few months, it's way past the phase where they decide on the content, they're debugging. AND Marvel technically isn't even bought yet.

Not to mention KH in general has been sticking to feature films and early short for its disney content, not comics.

Not sure what you're talking about, KH 358/2 days is actually the only game taking place while Sora was asleep (well, that and KH2's beginning). The PSP game is a prequel to KH1.

yea, i should change my text to prequel and mid-story.
i just hate it when a game has a bunch of story explaning games released after it instead of continuing the story.
i like it when a series sticks to a path, flash backs and parts in a game where you play through things that happend in the past are fine, i still think these two games will be great.

Ahhh, good ole' Kingdom Hearts gameplay! So hacky and slashy yet so satisfying.

And yet, they say the Metal Gear Solid storyline is convoluted >_< The Kingdom Hearts storyline is definitely interesting, but it just gets so damn confusing at times. Like there being 3 Ansems or something, I dunno, the one in Kingdom Hearts then the one in KH2 who wasn't actually Ansem but called himself Ansem because he was the real Ansem's apprentice while he was also a nobody and the one "Ansem" from the last game was the heartless, but since everyone thought he was "Ansem" it just made it all confusing.

I swear, if I ever meet a guy name Ansem in real life, I'm going to punch them in the face!

Well, after KH2 a prequel made sense, since KH2 introduced quite a few past mysteries and absolutely no reason to push the story forward, by the time it ends Sora's solved all his present problems, gotten rid of the baddies, found all his friends and all that. It's not like KH1's ending where you ended up with a cliffhanger as Sora still had to find his friends and Mickey, the only hook you end up with is the bonus video with Terra, Ventus and Aqua.

In Birth by Sleep[i/] alongside Heartless and Nobodies, they are fighting creatures called the Unbirth (the blue guys), which are neither Heartless nor Nobodies.

That's a fan mistranslation. They're actually the "Unversed", creatures "unversed" in their own existence - if the first boss, Wheel Master, is any indication, they are manifestations of darkness in bodies with neither souls nor hearts, such as the spinning wheel from Sleeping Beauty. They are definitely connected to the Heartless and Nobodies though.

WARNING, SPOILER TIME!!

The "Ansem" from Kingdom Hearts (the first game), hereafter "Ansem, the Seeker of Darkness", was in fact the Heartless of Xehanort, the apprentice of...

The "Ansem" from Kingdom Hearts II, Ansem the Wise, sage and ruler of Radiant Garden/Hollow Bastion. He discarded his name on learning that Xehanort (and later his Heartless) stole his name, and renamed himself "Darkness in Zero", or "DiZ", who was aided by...

The "Ansem" also appearing in Kingdom Hearts II, who was the dark form of Riku, Sora's best friend. In the first game, Xehanort's Heartless (Ansem the seeker) possessed Riku and imprinted his own form onto him. Riku could access great power by taking this form. When Ansem the Wise died trying to "absorb" the artificial Kingdom Hearts built by Org XIII, Riku was purged of his darkness and can no longer take this form.

Then there's "Xemnas", the Nobody of Xehanort/AnsemtheSeeker, created when Xehanort became a Heartless. He does not claim to be Ansem, but carries some of Xehanort's memories and longs to reunite with his heart (Ansem the Seeker), who has already been destroyed and returned to Kingdom Hearts.

Xehanort is a mystery, a young man of great power and intellect - with amnesia - adopted by Ansem the Wise. His backstory, and memories from before adoption, shall be covered in Birth by Sleep.

GOT IT MEMORISED?

Ah. Thank you. Didn't know that it was a mistranslation, mostly because it kinda fit with the theme of the other two types of enemies.
