Why Keane,Why!? Why must you torture me with the ducky pic.

But anyways, 3D Castlevania games have never stood up to there 2D cousins, so i'm not really all that excited.

Oh crap, so now Castlevania will have endless unskippable cutscenes every 3 seconds of gameplay? I'm not really thrilled... :S

Expect that picture to come up whenever Kojima is related. It's become a running "gag"

I have not played a 3D Castlevania game, and it will take more than Kojima having small involvement to get me to start. I love the 2D ones too much to taint them with polygons.

They're totally different types of games, and really can't be compared. And MGS2, while good, was not nearly the best with that fucked up storyline that made no sense until MGS4 came along and tied up the loose ends.

Yeah, but Castlevania games have never stood up to Metal Gear games, so it sort of evens out.
Eh, 2D Castlevania games are action side scrollers, where as MGS games are stealth based. Kinda like compairing apples to oranges. Or apples to chunks of lead even.

My roommate and I were talking about this yesterday when I mentioned that Kojima was working on the new Castlevania.

"Huh, guess it's going to be a stealth based Castlevania."
"Yeah, just like..."
"...Boktai."

I guess you'll have to charge your cross... weapon... thing with sunlight.

Chunks of lead that are easily Konamis most beloved franchise, and have single handedly propelled Mr. Kojima into the position of the second greatest developer who ever lived. So chunks of lead that are actually just lead covered diamonds.
When I said cunks of lead I didn't mean to say that MGS is bad, just that it's very different than Castlevania. And two such different things are hard to compair.

Uh...

Y'know, you really should remember that not everyone shares your taste in games :p Castlevania's a damn classic series.

I never thought of Hideo Kojima as a sticker, something you could just stamp on a product as a useless advertisement ploy, but I can't shake the feeling that this is quickly becoming a recipe for disaster.

We all know that Kojima's best results yield from him giving undivided attention towards his games during the development process. In this game's case, he sounds more like a school teacher editing an essay.

This game is vitally important to the Castlevania franchise, and so far, it doesn't look like it has any depth or unique gameplay; I pray, for the love of all that is good and holy, that they don't fuck up.

If Mercury Steam really wants Hideo Kojima to have a role in this game, they NEED to utilize his full potential.
Well, I don't know wheter this is such a bad thing. Remember, Miyamoto also had a similar role during the development of Metroid Prime, and that game turned out fantastic.

...used to ride a duck just like that at a playground in Italy...

Regardless, I'm interested in how much Kojima can bring to this franchise. He has a very... eh... unique touch that I'm not sure will be welcome be most fans of the franchise.

Of course, most fans of the franchise don't play the 3-D ones, anyway.

Since lead is generally used in a negative connotation, I thought he was insulting the series.
I was actually referring to the part where you called MGS Konami's most beloved franchise, and Kojima the second greatest developer who ever lived. Mighty subjective, there :p

1. Aren't there OTHER pictures of Kojima you could use? It's actually starting to get really creepy instead of funny...

2. Being a fan of Kojima productions since Policenauts it's good to see he decided to work on a project that isn't Metal Gear. (I love MGS it just seems like it's going into a milking phase.)

3. I'm was interested in Castevania when I saw the PS1 games in the playstation store. I'm be buying those as well as the new one now.

4. WHERE'S MY ZoE3!?

I fear that picture like I fear little else.

Just a note here, I see a lot of "3D Castlevania is bad" thoughts floating around here: Curse of Darkness is possibly one of the best games I've played. Now I can understand that it isn't a "real" Castlevania game since you don't use a bondage tool as a weapon, but I've played most of them (all except for the Wii and N64 titles, I believe) and I honestly prefer the Innocent Devil system with upgradable, buildable weapons. The whip is innovative, interesting and was great at the time, but the Innocent Devils are just more fun and the Force Gloves set off an atomic explosion. What the hell else do you want? You can even breakdance using the damn things! They're like Beowulf, except you don't have to fight a giant rat to get them! (Beowulf is basically tied with Nevan and the Force Gloves in the "Most Awesome Weapon I Have Ever Used In A Game" category.)

Sorry, I really love the Force Gloves. I basically exclusively use axe types (so I can get Death's Scythe) and gauntlet types (so I can get the Force Gloves) in that game.
