Your game of the month argument is irrelevant. That and the PSP is in no shortage of games, the DS simply gets more attention because ITS THE FUCKING DS (Didn't mean it in a rude manner). Also that sort of pessimism of previous consoles does not help, in order for there to be success people must embrace it. if they simply always look at past failures, nothing short of pessimism arises. The past failures of others does not automatically mean the failure of the next.42manZ said:No, I don't see what you mean. I think the PSP is not far from a lynching not because of retail I see, but instead a lack of games that are really "spectacular"-Seraph- said:Well according to Darkrai's logic, I can say PC gaming is dying because i see little promotion for it where I live. I was merely making a point by stating that, now you see what i mean by PSP "dying" not being true.
Let me explain: It seems like every week a game comes out for the DS, and gets quite a lot of attention. When I read, say GameInformer, their "Handheld of the Month" always seems to be a DS game, but rarely to never a PSP game.
I also feel that the PSP is dying by going by pattern recognition. I mean, Sege failed to beat the gameboy, and so did every other attempt.
The Gamegear has a following, but there will never be another Sega handheld.
Man, the conversation was so much better when we were talking about portable porn.-Seraph- said:Your game of the month argument is irrelevant. Also it's absolutely stupid to think sony would beat the DS with it's first hand held. Nintendo has almost 20 years under it's belt, it deserves it's place, but there is nothing wrong with competition. Anyone who thought sony was going to be instant success and overthrow Nintendo like they did for the past 2 console generations is a fool. These things take time, and it's good to see some competition and choice.
Also you wanted numbers? fine: (I got these from wikipedia but hey, I find them trustworthy enough when it comes to these things.)
DS - 100 million
PSP- 50 million
Wii - 50 million
PS3- 21.3 million
Xbox360 - 27.93
The fact that the system has lasted this long and has sold as much to match that of consoles is both impressive and enough proof to show it's not going anywhere any time soon.
that was tits.Actually No, a lot of the time I find myself passed out in different places. DIfferent bedrooms, different house and different alley ways. And I have terrible morning wood. So, yeah, I live an empty shell of a life through alcoholism and drug addictions.Indigo_Dingo:
Seriously, under what circumstances do you need portable porn? Are you depraved enough that you're gonna watch it on the bus? Do you need stmulation for masturbating in public?I'm going to be perfectly honest in saying: 90% of my PSP use is for portable porn.
Nah, I'm messing, I don't actually use portable porn, but it just seemed stupid just to say "porn" by itself when I can just use my computer.
Your game of the month argument is irrelevant.
I'm sorry about not remembering your exact words. And I didn't really call your argument BS,
Side conversation: What's better vagina or mangina?Although i will agree with you that it is a good portable porn device lol. I don't use mine for such a thing but i am not surprised that some do heh.
will you please stay on-topic?-Seraph- said:The hell does that have to do with anything? But to answer, vagina obviously.

EDIT: To clarify my "aggressiveness" in this mater and my defense for the PSP, yes i do proudly own one and highly enjoy it, but I come to it's defense because of the many misconceptions I see of it, and I hate it when people do this. The same goes for any other console for that matter. I can't tolerate misconceptions or hate for any system and I would jump to the defense of the DS or Wii at any time if i see harsh treatment to them as well.
Of course people with DS's are going to play games. Thats all they can do. Even though your 12 friends that own PSPs use them for Multimedia purposes it doesn't mean that PSP < DS. It still sells because it has more than just gaming.VoltySquirrel said:You rage, you lose.
Sorry, but seriously, chill the ef out.
P.S. Based on personal experience, EVERY single one of my friends use their PSP for everything but gaming. And I know about 12 people with PSPs. Meanwhile, I have at least 15 friends who own a DS and play games on it all the time. Some of them even own both, favoring the DS. And sure, the DS has its fare share of shovel-ware like the Wii, but there is an abundance of good games on the DS, while the PSP is fewer and farther between (based on personal preferences.)
I would have to disagree with you here.-Seraph- said:Also you wanted numbers? fine: (I got these from wikipedia but hey, I find them trustworthy enough when it comes to these things.)

Controls on the PSP aren't bad, unless you're playing a FPS. That genre is really one of the few places the PSP falls on its face.Moormur said:I would have to disagree with you here.-Seraph- said:Also you wanted numbers? fine: (I got these from wikipedia but hey, I find them trustworthy enough when it comes to these things.)

There's more to sales than just the units of hardware sold. There is the software component. That is where the PSP falls on its face. It is generally accepted by people I know that A) The controls on the PSP stink so much that the B) very few good games for the PSP give only so much enjoyment before heading to the sell bin.

The software sales are fine. PSP controls stink!? wtf?! I have played tons of games on the thing and it's no different than any other gaming device!! If your implying the constrols of the system itself are awkward i need only point to the GBA and ask you to explain why that system was never nagged at.Moormur said:I would have to disagree with you here.

Thats why all the good shooters are Third person. Syphon Filter, Killzone Liberation and Resistance Retribution want to have a word with you...keyper159 said:Controls on the PSP aren't bad, unless you're playing a FPS. That genre is really one of the few places the PSP falls on its face.
True, but if I wanted a multimedia device with decent (and cheaper) games, I'd just get an iPhone. Just a joke about the raging thing. But you do make a good point.-Seraph- said:Who says i was raging? I was completely calm throughout this entire discussion and i made that clear. Each and almost every point I made and even some of the points of the "nay sayers" (cant think of a better way to describe it) are completely valid and true. I too know plenty of people who won DS's and PSP's who love them, hate them, use them often or don't use them at all. I know it's all matter of preference but I cant condone the slagging of any gaming device, they are all equally good.

I should emphasize that I don't have personal experience using PSP controls...I'm going on hearsay. Did I ever say I hated the PSP? Hell, I think its a wonderful system, with quite a few things going for it. I just think, in my opinion, the game selection is... less than stellar. The multimedia stuff is cool, but for me, games first, features second.Jumplion said:Iroonnyyy~42manZ said:will you please stay on-topic?-Seraph- said:The hell does that have to do with anything? Is it possible that maybe, maybe, the PSP has functionalities other than gaming? Possibly? So then, maybe it could appeal to a wider audience of techno-junkies? Face it, the DSi probably would have come alot later if the PSP hadn't been on the market and shown that a competitor can face against Nintendo, with apparantly half their potential sales.
Using your PSP for movies/porn isn't a bad thing, just like how using a PS3 as a blu-ray player isn't a bad thing, or, dare I say it, using a PS2 as a DVD player isn't a bad thing.
Quite frankly, I'd rather have a PSP than my DS right now as it has 10x more games that I want for it than my DS. To each his own, but please don't confuse games that you personally aren't interested in to games that are available overall.
But, anywho, this guy is sortof like that one Microsoft guy who was smashing Killzone 2 and the PS3 at the same time, only he's actually naming some games that are coming out for the system.
