Sorry, but seriously, chill the ef out.
P.S. Based on personal experience, EVERY single one of my friends use their PSP for everything but gaming. And I know about 12 people with PSPs. Meanwhile, I have at least 15 friends who own a DS and play games on it all the time. Some of them even own both, favoring the DS. And sure, the DS has its fare share of shovel-ware like the Wii, but there is an abundance of good games on the DS, while the PSP is fewer and farther between (based on personal preferences.)
Of course people with DS's are going to play games. Thats all they can do. Even though your 12 friends that own PSPs use them for Multimedia purposes it doesn't mean that PSP < DS. It still sells because it has more than just gaming.
You know what Keyper?

You turned me around. You can do more than game on the PSP: you can watch movies at a volume just above inaudible (yes, I am talking from experience) and yes you can look at porn on them, and then after that you can... listen to music? Or look at photos? Stuf that's not very interesting?

Shouldn't the point of having a game console be to play games on it?
Stop being ignorant. The PSP has a library of 300+ games, some of them are bad, but most are between average to really good. As for the inaudible thing it may be your headphones. I used to use the ipod ones until I they broke and I replaced them with some cheap $5 ones, it sounded a lot louder after that.

will you please stay on-topic?
Iroonnyyy~ ;)
Actually, in the post that i asked the question in, I stayed on topic before asking it.

So, I say that the only real difference between the PSP and the DS are the selection of games, all of which are subject to opinion. So there is no point in the argument, really.

If I was ignorant, then how am I to stop being what I do not realize I was because I am ignorant to it?

I have to say, having owned a PSP for five years, that the library of games is very uninspired.

Unless you have personally played every title for every PSP game I highly doubt you can summarize the entire library as "uninspired".

I love my PSP, I do hear a lot of people (particularilly, one of my friends) bitching about it, and so far they haven't brought up a single good reason for not liking them. I must say, I've got 17 games for it, which is quite a small amount when compared to my other gaming systems, and I've played most of the games on it to death. I would get more, if it weren't for the hefty price tag that they seem to have.

One thing that I have to dissagree with that has been said on this thread, is that 1st person shooters do not work on the system, well I must've played Medal of Honer Heroes for over a year and a half online, that was first person, the controls where great, and it had a pretty good community. Though the second one in that series did suffer from a number of flaws.

On the other hand, one place where the PSP does shoot itself in the foot (certain titles in particular, I'm looking at you Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror!) is the playstation network, I mean, I've been on the phone to them three or four times asking for an activation key for my online account, everytime they've said that they'll send a new one to me, and this is over two years later, still no key. Which is a shame, because whalst I was playing that game on the online trial account, it looked very good.

Think i'll have to turn this around to the DSi..

I'm a DS Lite owner and to be honest i see no reason to trade-in my DS for a DSi, reasons:

Camera in the DSi is worse than most cell phone cams.

DSi screens are only slightly bigger, .5 inches...wow.

DSi 4 grams lighter, big deal

DSi battery life is actually worse than the DS Lite by 5 hours and the charge time is longer on the DSi.

No slot for Advance games, yeah..i'm not giving up Final Fantasy VI Advance and the Mother series.

I can understand dissing the DSi, it's full of useless adds...it's trying way too hard to be the PSP and there's simply no reason for it...sometimes i don't understand Nintendo, they have a system that does exactly what it's supposed to do but now let's bring out a new one that has the same garbage most cell phones have while at the same time remove any ability to play Advance games or turn those connectors that required the Advance slot into dust-collecting junk.

So long as my DS lite can play new Fire Emblem, Professor Layton, Advanced Wars, and Zelda games I will not switch to a DSi. No reason to do so. The Gameboy is meant to be for gaming, and that is all I care about whilst using it. Don't throw in a god damn camera to complicate things.

ps. If they start making good games that require you to use the camera I will just quit buying from nintendo until they get their shit together and make an actual improvement to their current handheld.

pps. Anyone else see this going the way of the gameboy micro? Aka. the useless garbage category.

Did I ever say I hated the PSP? Hell, I think its a wonderful system, with quite a few things going for it. I just think, in my opinion, the game selection is... less than stellar. The multimedia stuff is cool, but for me, games first, features second.
Sorry, I'll admit I over-blew what you were saying there.

I bring up this point again, why can't a games console do multiple things? There's nothing wrong with using a PSP for movies/porn, there's nothing wrong with buying a PS3 for blu-ray, and there's nothing wrong with buying a PS2 for a DVD-player.

You say "isn't a games console supposed to play games?", but what if I don't want a games console? What if I want a portable movie device that can play music to the side? You're saying "Stuff that's not very interesting" but that's your personal opinion and you're mixing it up with what it is and what it can be to someone overall.

If you a PSP for games, fine, buy it for games. If you want it for portable porn, fine, it can be used for that to. Having a DVD player in the PS2 worked a hell of a lot, I don't see how if someone is buying a PSP/PS2/PS3 for a Movie Player/DVD Player/Blu-Ray Player makes it any less of a games console.

If you want to buy games for it, you can buy some games. Just look for them.

Without trying to put words in 42manZ mouth, i think what he was pointing out is that playing music, taking pics, Blu-Ray shouldn't be it's main selling point....games should sell a gaming console, not the accessories.

The DSi has features that Nintendo is trying to sell, that doesn't make it an improvement over the DS lite, and frankly it's a bit too late to be a strong selling point for some people.

If i was a trying to sell you a T.V. and i offered a brand-new toaster with the purchase are you going to go "OMG! a toaster?!? SOLD!!" no, probably not...reason? well you probably already have one that works just fine, so why should it sway the sale.

You're right, a console doesn't need to be limited to just gaming...but when the adds to the console is something that most people already have in a much slimmer, more portable and more useful product then why bother?

Yes, that is exactly what I was saying. Personally, I have no interest in a DSi, for the reason that my Lite works perfectly well by itself, it doesn't need a built in camera to be a good system already.

You were talking about vaginas, I think that was off-topic enough for you.
NO I was talking about manginas. I think when we really break this down, this is what the conversation is truly about. That and Portable Porn, a phrase I am now coining.

You say "isn't a games console supposed to play games?", but what if I don't want a games console? What if I want a portable movie device that can play music to the side?
[/quote

Then get an iPod. They have more room without having to buy a new memory card.
If you want to buy games for it, you can buy some games. Just look for them.
Well, you really got me there, I have been so wrapped up with my DS recently that maybe, just maybe I was in wrong. Every console has potential to surprise me, so I was like:

"Fuck it! The last time I bought a PSP game was a year and a half ago, so I decided to go and take a look at what the PSP has to offer!"

My only rule was that it had to be PSP exclusive.

I'll be back in an hour with my answer. (If you care at all)

Wow, I completely forgot about this thread. And Portable Porn. How could I ever forget about Portable Porn?

Well, I decided to be more accommodating to your viewpoint and checked out THAT SPECIFIC LIST.

And I have to say fie on you. Earlier in this thread one of the PSP defenders claimed that the DS can only do RPGs, and now I could see that they have a point! The PSP does do more than RPGs! It does RPGs and figthing games based off of RPGs. Okay, true, there's LocoRoco and Patapon, but if I was to play and indie game, I'll go to TIGsource, and not to Sony's attempt at trying to be Indie.

DS just has way more games my style.
The only game on the PSP I care about is that Prinny game since they're awesome.

Edit:
Also what the hell was the point of this thread?
SHOCKING NEWS! PSP supporter disses Nintendo! Stop the damn presses!

Edi2:
Also, sony gets no more of my money until they apologize for the rootkit and securom. They are just as evil as Microsoft with 10 times the malevolence.

Okay, so it's 300+ games from PSP. But Nintendo DS (not DSi, just DS/DS Lite) has over 180 games with 79+ at Metacritics + hundreds or thousands of Gameboy Color (with R4)/Gameboy Advanced games.

About Portable Porn - Why should I buy either console if I want to have PP? I already have an 8GB (if I recall correctly) MP4 Player with a very bright screen... Teehee.

Thats a bit of an unfair comparison as ya know....gameboy has been around for 20 years!! and the PSP only 3 or 4.
