Just curious as to why it seems so many people have them on here, the blue-haired girl in various funny poses or actions. She just looks like your typical 'squishy-cute' anime girl to me, though I've never seen or know much about 'Lucky Star'. What is it exactly which makes her character that endearing?

She's an otaku. And also adorable. And to be fair, mine had both her and Kagami before I bussed up my avatar.

I would imagine its because in the series Konata is the gamer character. There's even a few episodes where they have her playing an MMO. Her eyes are always half shut from staying up all night playing video games, she's a tendancy to just toss out and apply random video game facts while in conversation with her friends. She's also a habitual procrastinator who puts off doing any school work until she absolutley has to. (her teacher is no help since she is also a gamer)

To sum her up, she's both the best and the worst of the gamer image yet still manages to remain oddly adorable.

Wait, so she's a basement-dwelling nerd who plays schoolgirl-groping simulators, and goes on picnics with anime blow up dolls and then marries them? Because that is the true definition of otaku.

Anyway, on topic, I think it's just a way to label themselves as fans of anime, and perhaps that particular anime in particular, as it's not one of the most well-known or loved ones out there (at least compared to Naruto or Bleach).
She proclaims herself as such during the series.

Close enough, she plays a lot of dating sims because thats what her father played when she was little and she just fell into that genre. She applies gaming/anime cliches to her everyday life, she is an Otaku.

Because they're all pitifully attempting to be more awesome than Darkwing motherflippin' Duck.
Even though most people probably had her as an avatar before I set my Darkwing one, but whatever. Time paradoxes are fun.

Srs face.
I really don't know. I guess Lucky Star has a lot of stuff people who watch anime like, making both the anime and the character uber popular? Or something? I'm just making this up, I'll stop typing now.

She's a great character. The other characters in Lucky Star are more or less "normal", while Konata is the one who plays loads of games, watches loads of anime, and generally acts as a great comedic character.

I dunno. Just watch a couple episodes or watch a few clips on youtube.

I really think it is because she is one of us in the anime. Every waking minute of every day is spent thinking about a video game or an anime for her.

This

But all the same, watching lucky star im sure it has to do with the fact that she was the nerd character that every guy/girl compares themselves too, Also one of the few characters on that show that have a shred of personality.

It's an Anime character that likes Anime and video games, on a video game site with a fair Anime subsection and fanbase?

I myself have used a few Konata avatars during my time here and personally, she's one of, if not my most favorite anime character. So, that's it for me, at least.
