It's not just fanstuff, as I recall--over the course of a couple of episodes, we saw that Fate and Nanoha are living together, sleeping in the same bed, and raising a daughter who refers to both of them as "mama."John Funk said:

Wow, that's just sad. What else is there to say? Oh I know, why does no one complain when you marry an inanimate object, but lots of people complain when you marry the same sex on the grounds that it's immoral? I'm not gay, I'm just saying.
