Two things, I think Bobby is lying to get press for Trey and also, I'm fairly sure there is no similarity between social networking and COD. COD is people calling your mother a Mexican dog rapist. Facebook is telling people talking to each other at least with marginal civility.

Did you mean: Infinity Ward?

I don't think they got their due either really...
*Kotick Puts on Turian Counciler's Voice from ME*Ah yes *fingerquotes* Infinity Ward, the backstabbed developer still waiting for royalties allegedly defecting to EA, we've dismissed that claim

"Some players apparently don't bother with it at all."

I asked a friend what MW2's campaign was like once - back when it first came out and I still had a mild interest in the series - and he didn't even know there was one.

Grrr, i think Mod War 2 had a loss let "connection errors" then Black Ops, and i attribute that to Infinity Ward.

That's...wow. I don't know what to say about that.

I like Treyarch because of Nazi zombies. I want them to make a game solely with that in it. There's already a fun storyline to the mode. For the love of all that is undead, PLEASE don't let the new map pack be set in the "FIVE" universe. I enjoy my drunk Russian and insane German.

I call bullshit on your claims Kotick! Treyarch heavily bases its multiplayer on the Modern Warfare games, social networking was popular & big long before anyone gave a flying fungal shit about Treyarch games, and the Infinity Ward games are and will always be held in higher regards than the Treyarch installments.

I still miss infinity ward. Even though I never bought a single Cod game, I remember how the order went and who made cod 3.

So they abandoned Infinity Ward, the people that made Call of Duty[i/] in the first place, and went on to support Treyach and claim that they were the ones who made Call of Duty a success?
Bobby Kotick, you forgot to take your sanity pills again.

Kotick: Treyarch have done wonders for the Call of Duty franchise. As you can see, we...
Everybody: But what about Infinity Ward? They made the franchise? What happened to them?
Kotick: Ah. Yes. Well, you see, there has been mumble mumble [small]mumble mumble[/small]... AND TREYARCH MADE THE BEST MULTIPLAYER OF ALL TIME! OF ALL TIME!!

I can see where shifting focus away from Inifinty Ward might benefit Kotick's position. Just keep the crowd looking in the wrong direction, eh Bobby?

And now Mister Kotic will give them their due for pushing the franchise further, as he did with Infinity Ward. Time to clear the building guys.

I'm not sure a game where the only social interaction is either shooting them down the barrel of a gun or trying to avoid them so they don't steal your kills and get in your way counts as a real "Facebook" social experience.

whatever Kotick, it doesn't matter who's making games as long as you make money, right? I expect this vampire to jump from the company the second things look to be going south

the point i'd like to add here is:
Modern Warfare 2 felt finished. It was a quality game, the graphics were great the gameplay was fun and the "limited" amount of enemies per map made it feel like a FPS shooter were we had progressed past being just some grunt to actually being SF.
Black ops is fun yes, but doesn't feel as finished or as glitzy as MW2 did. The Zombie mode is probably the greatest improvement. The graphics are nothing new, the gameplay is the same recycled layout from the other 2 (it works, no need to change it i suppose)
What i didnt like was the levels were enemies kept coming, no matter how many you killed, this coupled with the typically useless AI which gets in the way more than it helps made the game boring on veteran, not challenging, it literally felt like luck of the draw. Sometimes you'd die rushing down a slope, sometimes you wouldn't no real technique to it, which made me get bored and put something else on.
---
and as for the "social" side of these games, little 10 year olds screaming down the mic because you have free will and wont do as they say (meaning you mute everyone on your team) doesn't count as a social experience.

Actually Treyarch didn't do much(except for WaW, the only good game that they made)and actually, it was Infinity Ward that promoted the series into (Ithink) AAA status, whilst Treyarch just wallowed in their success.

Am I right?

Kotick may know approximately bugger-all about video games themselves. But everything I've seen tells me the man does, in fact, know the politics of the business. He knows when to stir up some trouble, and he knows a fair bit about running damage control afterward. Like him or not, he gets people talking about the products his company is trying to sell.
