Basically what I'm saying is I feel Treyarch has always brought the weaker, filler, CoD games, just filling in the gaps until Infinity Ward was ready with a new one. So unless Treyarch put in a lot of the effort to make CoD4s multiplayer in the first place I fail to see how they can receive much credit, since the multiplayer has barely changed since it was released with Cod4.
My thoughts exactly. Infinity Wards' entries (COD2, COD4, MW2), for me have always been held at a higher level of quality. Treyarch's COD3, WaW, and Black Ops have always been distractions in between for Activision to milk more money off the success of Infinity War's creations.

Just wow.

Kotick said something that wasn't retarded and filled with idiocy.
Probably the happy pills finally started working!
Seriously?

Basically this is what I heard: "Well, I destroyed the developer that made the highest grossing game of all time and made me unbelievably rich, should I shit on its corpse? Eh, why not *squats down*"

What an asshole

FALSE!!!! Honestly, call of duty is infinity ward's baby. That is like saying 343 studios should get credit for making halo as it is today, thats just stupid. Look at all of the Treyarch call of Duty's. Big Red 1: ok, but no where as good as COD 2. WAW: No where as good as COD 4. Black Ops: MW2 with new skins, balancing, and new guns.

Kotick's remarks have a "But we've always been at war with Eurasia" quality about them.
You win the thread with the 1984 reference.

But I completely agree, he's only saying this because IW is no longer around. Wouldn't you praise the dev making one of your biggest cash cows now? What is he going to say? "We only use(d) Treyarch as in-fill until IW was ready with the real CoD game."

Kotik will never admit any kind of mistake, everything he does or says he'll twist it into a positive somehow.

I agree with what Kotick is saying, but not why he is saying it. I'd be far more impressed if he said "WE didn't give Treyarch their due."

Indeed. My first thought was "This actually sounds sensible. Did I read it wrong?"

My current theory is that he's screwing with us. >.>

Infinity Ward's CoD was generally liked by alot of people, and despite it's bugs, it is still a pretty sweet game.
Treyarch's CoD is generally disliked by most of the people that like it.

And now Treyarch is saying they deserve credit for making Infinity Ward's CoD awesome?

Thats like the US saying "Ok world, you should thank us for joining WW2. We made that a victory, and you don't give us credit. Sure all the other countries were doing a great job, but we deserve most of the credit."
Oh wait...

So all that award winning multiplayer stuff with all the unlockables and perks and attachments were all made by Treyarch? So does that make Treyarch awesome or something?

Ugh, will someone please just shoot Kotick already. It seems that he's just throwing a semi-subtle hissy about what's going on with Infinity Ward and Activision.

Personally, while Treyarch do deserve their due, Infinity Ward were the ones that brought it out of the whole "Just another WWII FPS" rut.

I'll admit....I'm missing IW.

treyarch's lucky that the black ops multiplayer pans out well. The singleplayer was just horrible it felt like I was playing an old ass game that was mostly cinematics and set pieces. I mean maybe their work is better than people think, but cmon IW games felt so much better, there is a reason why I didnt buy cod waw its because I played 3 and was just blehed out of their work.

Seriously they need to put an extra 2 years into their projects and come out with inspirational well done games not these flimsy paper cut out shoot em ups, death animations are weeeeak, we;re supposed to be into next gen ragdoll and crumpling not rocket goes boom guy lightly falls down.

Infinity Ward are the reason COD is successful.

Yes, Treyarch made decent games but they were made using the tools and ideas Infinity Ward created.

Well if you see WaW cheap I'd actually recommend getting it as the single player I thought was quite good. It runs exactly like CoD4 as it basically just reskins it but it does have a competent campaign if you play it on lower difficulties as enemies use grenades way too much. When I mean way too much it is like they have a crate of infinite grenades beside them and the only programmed action they have is to throw grenades.

blah blah blah.

The only thing Treyarch deserve is criticism for releasing yet another bug filled, lag ridden set of broken promises. All the high minded bollocks they spewed before releasing BO, in the wake of the criticism MW2 (rightly) received, and they spectacularly fail.

BO should have been product recalled. That people are prepared to pay for such an unplayable, lazy, sloppily programmed pile of netcode fail is what's wrong with gaming. If EA can afford to run BC2 on dedicated servers then there is no excuse BO can't have the same privilege.

BO is a total mess and treyarch should be removed from the franchise. let them spend all their time on twitter, since that's clearly their priority. Their own community 'manager' can't even be bothered to address the criticisms made about the game and the problems people are having without being unpleasant.

£45 for a piece of shit like BO. No wonder gaming in 2010 has been such a pile of wank.
I was under the impression that Blops had dedicated servers. I even see clan owned servers on my server browser unless I am going made. Although I do agree it has massive holes in the programming as I spent Christmas day fixing the freezing and not breaking 10fps issue. Although the freezing one still crops up in single player.

OT: Well to be honest the only thing Treyarch deserve credit for is well the Zombie mode. It is the only thing they have really done on their own initiative well. Blops could of been so much better if it was made properly. What annoys me about it is a decent game but it could be a great game. All it needs is a bit of balancing, the bugs swatted and some more decent sized maps. Please for the love of Christ stop making maps like Shipment and Killhouse. The one in Blops at least to me is nuketown. Small maps with anything more than 6 on a server are a complete disgrace to play on it always ends up as what ever team gets the most killable killstreak first. One time I spawned in the enemy spawn!!! That is how awful and badly made that map is.

The weapon sounds are also awful. They seriously couldn't just take the sound files from other games(haven't played MW2) but the weapon effects in the game are really atrocious.

Nice to see that even Kotick knows who the better dev is.
Yeah, he's totally not humping Treyarch because Infinity Ward gave him the big "fuck you!".

Perhaps Treyarch does handle the more social aspect of CoD better but CoD isn't there for talking to your friends. For most people, its for shooting strangers. And sometimes your friends.

Besides, Bungie does community/social interaction better. And lets not even get into Valve.

Although I will give props to Treyarch for trying their best on this one. After Activision cannibalized Infinity Ward after making the most popular, yet most unsupported games ever, Treyarch has done an admirable job having a go at it. At least that's what I think.
