I've visited America, I'm aware that most American chocolate isn't very good, but I'm pretty sure that's more to do with too much sugar and not enough coco than the levels of arsenic and cancer in it.
Oh, and Cadbury is just another corporate machine, the only reason people in this country get wet for it is because of nostalgia, and the fact they like stuffing their faces with affordable lumps of sugar, milk and coco butter.
Have you never dunked a Cadbury's finger into a cup of coffee? If I could live in two things for the rest of my life, it would be those two.DannyBoy451 said:Sorry to break it to you, but Cadbury chocolate is mediocre junk at best

I'd argue that just because something's a 'corporate machine' (I prefer the word company, but there you go) doesn't exactly make it a bad thing. Lot's of people have fond memories about different companies that aren't just based on baseless nostalgia. I can think of a few in England: Manchester United and Liverpool football clubs, Virgin Records, Rough Trade, The BBC...

What was that about -
You are probably mistaking it for Hershey's. And I'll give you that their lowest quality stuff shouldn't even be remotely associated with chocolate.Americans only suck when they assume they're right without paying attention to what was being said - or written.

No it doesn't, for painfully simple business reasons.The_root_of_all_evil said:Truly, truly awful.
British Milk Chocolate is different from both American and European, and is highly, highly prized by ex-pats.
With Kraft taking over, that means the potential death of Dairy Milk.
For America, imagine losing Oreo's.
Everyone seems to have got there before me... oh well, i agree with these and this...Azure-Supernova said:This is my main concern, if they merge production with another of their chocolatiers then that's going on 5000 people out of work. and also that... its true in a way, what they have done is stupid, but if they dont change anything (unless it makes it better) then im cool with it. I dont like the fact of the jobs and debt however.Binerexis said:So long all the Cadbury products don't taste any different, I honestly don't care about this take over.

Well, on a similar note, Frito-Lay bought out Ruffles many years ago. Ruffles aren't any different now than they were before the buy-out. They are still very different than crinkle-cut Lays. If that snack-food company can do it and make it cost-effective, I bet Kraft can too.Azure-Supernova said:Well that's what I'm hoping for, but if they do end up merging production with another of their chocolatiers, would it be economic for that facility to produce two types of chocolate? So should they merge it with Milka, will they still sell both... or will Milka be Cadbury or Cadbury be Milka?
Actually, I have:The_root_of_all_evil said:Which you haven't stated, just typed "lol" a few times.DannyBoy451 said:No it doesn't, for painfully simple business reasons.The_root_of_all_evil said:Truly, truly awful.

It would be suicide for Kraft to alter a recipe that is so obviously successful and that Cadbury's established customer base loves.DannyBoy451 said:Sorry to break it to you, but Cadbury chocolate is mediocre junk at best, and it'll still be the same mediocre junk after the takeover since it would make no sense for Kraft to fuck with the recipe for such a successful brand.
The way that I understand it, that means that Hershey's chocolate bars (they taste like arse, by the way) have already been marketed under the Cadbury's banner, or vice versa.wikipedia said:Cadbury merged with drinks company Schweppes to form Cadbury Schweppes in 1969.[7]
Cadbury Schweppes went on to acquire Sunkist, Canada Dry, Typhoo Tea and more. In the US, Schweppes Beverages was created and the manufacture of Cadbury confectionery brands were licensed to Hershey's.
