I'm not buying it because a warning light flashes in my head when a game uses, "like a movie" as a selling point. If it's good people will buy it. however I gotta say that it's success would probably be either a lateral or possibly backwards step for the games industry.

I won't be buying it. Maybe is my flawed impression, but it feels just like Mafia I and II--and I didn't get II either.

If tries something new and different, for the sake of the industry I hope it sells. Otherwise it can going in the 9.99 pile at Gamestop.
This is how a felt about LA Noire it seems the stories from that age just seem cheesy. I hope it sells well so we can get an new GTA but overall this game is something I'll watch a playthrough of instead of buying.
You two need to watch the videos for it. There's a huge difference.

someones trolling
How so, exactly? I've been worried about it myself. The marketing campaign for the game is nearly non-existent. Many people haven't heard of it until last week.

God dammit, some of you people need to learn the definition of trolling. And next time actually contribute to the thread.
Then change the title of the thread. It looks like you are trollin.

And its Rockstar game its going to sell. they always do.
... Uh... I didn't make the thread...

Before you rage on me i really cant wait for it.
But who will be interested in buying it except people who want something new?
I am afraid the game will not sell ENOUGH to make the develepment worth it.
Hardcore Sandbox fans:No
hardcore Shooter fans: probably not.
Hardcore Rpg And Jrpg fans:probably not.
You forgot "People who don't like to see game content separated out as different pre-order 'bonuses'" because that pissed me off enough to bump this down from buyable to rentable.
If it's good enough I'll still buy it after the rental but I'll wait for a "complete/goty/episodes/whatever" it is they come out with that has all the dlc.

I'm no analyst, no, I can admit that much, but LA Noire is going to sell like hot cakes. It's going to linger in the charts like a malignant tumour. I've been loosely following its development for a little while and if it only delivers on half of its potential, it'll still do just fine.

To be completely honest I have never really heard of the game. Sure iv heard the name mentioned probably two or three times but never actually who makes it, when it comes out, or really anything about what its about.

It is rockstar though so even if it sells 20 copies its not going to hurt them enough not to continue to experiment.

Deathninja19 said:
Yeah sorry but the ad campaign is so massive and with the Rockstar name behind it there's no way it won't sell
This game actually had an ad campaign? I havnt even heard anything about it.
It's not a massive ad campaign. I have no idea where he got the idea that it was. A decent one, sure, and it'll probably get bigger once it gets to the days before release, but I rarely see anything beyond border ads on websites for it.

I think Im gonna wait until I see some gameplay footage before I decide if I want it. All Ive seen so far is cinematics, which look fantastic, but I have no idea how it plays?

It will sell fine. Mot many people expected much from RDR but it ended up selling millions. R* know what they're doing.

Funny, Rockstar trying to make a story heavy game is exactly why I don't care for this game at all.

Well it is by Team Bondi and published by Rockstar, so it might differ from the norm.

Am I the only one who thinks the facial expressions made by the characters are oddly creepy?

OT: I've only seen the trailer on television, but it looks interesting albeit graphics looking a little outdated.

I've heard nothing of this game other than the first trailers that were released last year, haven't followed any news on it and couldn't even tell you what type of game it would be for sure. But it's Rockstar, so I can assume it'll be a sandbox/shooter hybrid with some sort of mystery element in there. And you know what? That's enough to make me rent it, which for me usually leads to purchases.

I probably will buy it in the future, my only concern is all the special pre order bonus shit that you get from other places, I hope it all becomes DLC eventually

This may be my fanboyism speaking here, but LA Noire is going to be game of the year. I can almost guarantee it.
Okay, no. Its good, I will give you that. Very very good, on any other year it would sweep the GOTYs. But 2011? This year? No, Uncharted 3 has that in the bag.
^^ Uncharted 3 FTW!! As for the game not doing well?? If memory serves correct, Heavy Rain did pretty well and that wasn't really a "Fanboy friendly" game....

I thought it looked pretty crap tbh... the graphics and voice acting I've seen/heard so far have all been underwhelming to say the least.

How can you expect new and original games when all you do is complain its not enough like other games already out?

It looks rather interesting to me, but I won't be able to buy it as I am saving up for Skyrim so I'd probably just rent it.

considering the fact that there are hundreds of thousands of people who play GTA,i wouldn't say it wont sell enough...though it will cause a lot of GTA fanboys (not normal fans,i mean the 9 year olds who yell to their mothers through their mics) to ***** and moan about how you cant get an RPG-7/gunship cheat, even though it's set in the late 40s.

i'm sure that people who enjoy crime movies or stories in general will also like this game, especially since L.A. Noire was featured at a film festival since it was so....cinematic...anyway,you got two large audiences to cater to: gamers, and film geeks.they're bound to sell at least as many copies as they did with Red Dead (5 million units);i mean westerns aren't exactly the topic of many games, and if a western game did well, why wouldn't a crime drama game?sure two different genres, but the principle is the same, right?

(and who knows, maybe japan will release a whole slew of porno games with ultra realistic cleavage physics using the multiple camera motion capture technique they used in L.A. Noire!)

I can't believe people are complaining about heavy story and a cinema style in a game that isn't even out yet, when we have 90% cutscene games like Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid filling two thirds of the shelves in the stores.
