LAN anyone?

I've recently gotten into LAN gaming with a few buddies of mine and I was wondering what if any LAN games some of the people here on The Escapist play.

Warcraft 3 is a must, seriously there are so many custom games like DOTA and Tower wars that you can have tournaments for. CS:S is another obvious one.

My Friends and I usually LAN Age of Empires 2, Age of Mythology, Warcraft 3, or Starcraft. I sometimes wish we would play a different kinds of games other than RTS games.

I remember having Diablo II lan parties in college. We would stomp through the first world and then part way through the second until one of us had to go do something in real life. It worked a lot better than the few attempts at Civ IV.

Been years since we had LAN parties in college. Used to play Halo:CE and Starcraft quite a bit. Seems like with faster internet speeds, LAN isn't so necessary to play lagless multiplayer anymore. For all the gripes about SC2 not including LAN, they turned out to be right, I can't really tell for the most part.

Can't believe that I'm the first person to bring up TF2, but that game is awesome at LAN parties. There are few things better than being the one to cap the final point or flag, and having your teammates in the room with you, cheering. [sub]or your opponents in the same room, crying out in anguish[/sub]. Honorable mention goes to the L4D series, which I didn't have copies of at the last LAN party, but were pretty much the only games aside from TF2, Warcraft 3, and Starcraft 2 to get any play. I personally sat on my butt playing TF2 for close to 12 hours.

...SWAT 4 was a blast LAN. You have to have the right people though.

overall the favorites for LAN between my friends though are L4D and Doom (through doomsday)

Left 4 Dead 2.

There was eight of us in two seperate rooms, one room playing infected and another as survivor. The game is 100x better when you can turn around and hit the player who huntered the guy you were about to bash out a tenth story window.

Killing Floor, GRAW, UT2004, TF2, Alien Swarm, CS:S.

Diablo II works as well but you need to play on a regular basis or it sucks.

Always DotA, and... huh, come to think of it, all we ever played was DotA xD. And other WC3 custom content, like Tower Defense. But really, DotA was just so much fun and easily took up all our time without becoming boring.

But I havn't been to a LAN party/LAN cafe in a long time, so there's definately other, newer games that are good to, but I just don't have any experience with them.

Me and some friends even take our own server with css and samp on so we can be admins

COD 4 is the LAN game of choice around here. Previously, we've done:

Rome - Total War
Left 4 Dead
Counter Strike

I LAN (semi) regularly with the guys, and our current rotation is something like this:

Grenade of Duty: Grenade Grenade 2
Demigod
Stark Raft the Second

Plus of course whichever version of Guitar Hero or Rock Band we feel like at the time.

p.s. Bad Company 2 is a much better game than Grenade Grenade but not as popular.
