im sure everyone has at one point in their life wished they sould speak another langauge or just want to be able to understand it for the hell of it.
well, if you could learn any langauge, what would it be?

for me, id love to learn japanese. i love anime and manga and love videogames and i find that a lot of time there are just jokes that i end up missing a lot of times, even in the translated stuff and it would be great to get those hidden jokes you could say. plus i want to get in the game industry and knowing another language can really help out.

Why should I answer your question when you have so graciously answered it for me, with the exact same reasons I would put?

Latin, the orgin of various words has always fasinated me, plus the whole "Dead Language" part is pretty awesome, it would be pretty interesting to have a whole new langauge under your belt, but not be able to speak it.

Russian and German, so that if I wanted/needed to I could do some some real in-depth research into the Eastern Front of WWII.

Good question.
For most useful (where I am anyway) I'd say Spanish. As long as I can retain it I intend to take it next year in college, too.

Beyond that there are so many languages, so many different people I'd love the chance to communicate with.
Japanese, Chinese, Portuguese, German and French just for starters would all be languages I'd love to learn if I felt I was capable of retaining so much knowledge this late in life.

I am trying to learn Hindi as I think it sounds beautiful when spoken properly. I actually feel ashamed not speaking at least one other language. In my workplace, there are only two out of thirty people who do not speak at least two languages. I work in a Domino's pizza and at least eight different languages are spoken or understood. Thankfully everybody speaks to each other in english.

Latin.
Why? Because it's cool.
It's pretty neat, I studied it back in High School/College. Certainly helps you to understand most romantic languages.

As for which language I'd love to learn: Cherokee. Cherokee and Taur'ahe.

Bells, frogs, bing cherries. Jingle bells, magic cheese. [http://magiccheese.ytmnd.com/]

In actuality, the lyrics are here [http://www.animelyrics.com/game/ffvii/ff7owa.htm].

I'd love Japanese. I know it's already been said a lot, and will continue to be said, but that's what I'd get. I've loved Japan for a long time, and will continue to love it, even more so once I can finally speak the language.

For me, if I were to go to Japan (or any country with vastly different culture) half the enjoyment would be not understanding what the hell is going on.

I want to learn either the Taa language from Botswana(over 70% of the words in its dictionary begin with clicks) or the Ongota language (apperently there are only 6 people left in the world who are native speakers).

Pretty much any language that nobody else speaks, so I may further my elitism.
