hahaha i should be using a contact but it doesn't work, so i actually need a conrnea transplant.
anyway OT i think that laser eye surgery could be worth it but maybe paying that much in one go could be abit too much for it to be a sensible option..

Because of my allergy, I have to stick to my glasses for now... but I will probably get lenses in the future, for months where my eyes don't sting like they've been in the past few days.

...Three weeks...

I don't need it, but I would get contacts, bacause I know I will break my glasses.
and if the contacts annoy me, then and only then I'm getting laxord.

i was going to have it done but i saw a video on youtube of what they do...this one:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4kDC4sZ5Jg
and it completely put me off. it's only local anesthetic, you're awake for the whole procedure and having that happening to my eye i would HATE

currently the risks aren't as great as they once where, however I personally wouldn't have laser surgery unless glasses weren't working for me

We really haven't seen the long term effects of laser eye surgery yet so it still scares the hell out of me. Don't wanna wake up when you're 50 and have two eye sockets full of tumors.

I thought about it once or twice, but ultimately I don't really care about it. I look good with glasses, I like my glasses. Ok that's not completely true, they get dirty so fast, and the glasses are really scratched. They actually cloud my vision sometimes, especially colours get all misty sometimes. A well, time for new one's I guess.

I just got contacts.
I currently wear contacts at the minute, i would just like to be able to go swimming without having to pop my contacts in and out every time, also taking them out every night and putting them back in in the morning is an annoyance simply because i am normally too tired to do either without them flying every where
I just continue to wear contacts when I swim

really? i heard chlorine can make them go really funny
What about swimming in lakes?

ok so i went for my consultation today and they said that i am eligible for it, the only things holding me back are the risks that come with it, so my question is, with laser eye surgery, what is your opinion on it? do you think the benefits outweigh the risks ?
I wish I could do it, quite frankly. Quite frankly: It depends. Is your vision really bad to where current things don't really do that much (such as glasses)? Is the cost worth it? (Last time I checked it isn't covered by health insurance) If the answers are yes, then go for it. Nothin's gonna happen, and you'll be fine. :)

I dunno how ya'lls systems work for visual acuity but as long as we're sharing:
(uncorrected)
both - 20/800
L - 20/200
R - 20/300

I would have laser surgery, as my eyes are very bad, but the fact that they actually CUT OPEN THE FRONT OF YOUR EYE puts me off. Ok, its only the thin transparent bit up front, but still.

you make a very compelling arguemnt, i have been wearing glasses since i was 7, and contacts since i was 15, don't get me wrong i don't HATE them per se, they just get on my nerves, especially if i have to put new contacts in and i cant find my glasses or any new contacts, so with laser eye surgery none of it would be an issue, i say......

I probably will do at some point.

i have one eye that is a little bit worse than average and one very short sighted eye.
I've tried glasses a few times but they always gave me huge headaches.

So i can hopefully get my bad eye lazored ;)
Knowing that if it does go wrong, i won't be losing anything really, but have everything to gain.
