Would it not be possible to purchase the game via Steam in Australia?. I don't think the Office of Film and Literature Classification or whatever it's called over there is going to shut down Steam...are they?.

For fuck sake, we went through this Forum bullshit with L4D1. IT'S NOT COMING OUT FOR PS3. Now close this fucking thread.
Rage-lock off, please. This is the exact same thing people said about FFXIII, and look what happened.

Undermined every "IT'S NOT COMING OUT FOR ___!" thereafter.

Except there's a difference between the dev saying "we will not develop for console A because we are loyal to console B's manufacturer" or "this game would not be possible on console A" when it clearly is from a technical standpoint, and a developer saying "we really hate developing on console B, so we're not going to".

I'm not familiar with Steam but I doubt it would be that easy to just download it off Steam in Australia otherwise barely anyone would of cared about it getting banned. I think that it simply won't be on the Australian Steam, sorta like how you can only get some things on the Japanese PSN or American PSN. But then people could just make new accounts and say they are from America......Fuck, you raise a mighty good point, the OFLC can't just Banhammer Steam. Now I'm confused.

Steam will not make the game available to Australian users if the game is refused classification, as it becomes illegal to sell the RC game here. Even if people find a way around that, there will be no local servers to play on.

Except Steam knows what country you're in based on your IP. You could use a proxy, I suppose.

That's true, but that would mean Steam would have to lock out Australian IP's from downloading L4D2 content..which sounds like a first for Steam. Besides it's not beyond the wit of gamers to use a proxy to go around that problem....and I think as long as the single player element is good and it supports co-op gameplay I doubt Australian's would complain much about not having their own steam server.

If all else fails, there is E-bay. What is OFLC going to do?. Check credit card billing information?.

There's a few titles from online services like Steam and Impulse I can't buy because I'm not in the right region - it's pretty annoying to see a game and not be able to buy it because they don't have the rights to distribute it here.

And yes, you could buy it online - technically importing an RC game is illegal as well, but the chances of customs finding an illegally imported game are quite slim - they tend to focus on drugs, weapons, and stuff that's trying to bypass quarantine like exotic plants and animals. Our uncensored copy of Silent Hill: Homecoming made it through just fine prior to the censored version being released locally.

Ok before anyone goes on at me about this thread being made already I search using the search bar and couldnt find anything so... yeah...

Ive been looking through the internet and found equal amounts of evidence that say that L4D 2 is/isnt coming out for ps3, but the most concrete evidence i found was in Gamestations 'coming soon catalogue' which said it was but when i asked the guy behind the counter he didnt know so im back to square 1 so if anyone can shed any light on the subject with PROPER evide3nce i dont want any Xbox or PC Trolls just saying it wont.

Please Help!!
I recieved a message on PSN that said if they got enough people to agree to it they would release Halo and Left 4 dead beta keys
Left 4 Dead MAYBE! But Halo? Microsoft would never give that to sony. Not even as a beta. Halo is a Microsoft exclusive and there biggest money maker. They would never allow competitors to use it.

And the only way Left 4 Dead will ever make it to the PS3 is if another comapny ports it,and if that happens don't expect to get any DLC.

No Sony are one of the most retarded companies for making a console that is really hard to program games for... you know games? Those things you play on consoles.

It's not there fault the PS3 is harder to program for. Blame Sony for it not Valve. And a heads up EA ported the Orange Box to the PS3 and did a horrible job with it as well as plenty of people hated it. Why would they sell there game to a fanbase that hates them?

As many here noted: if you approach a valve employee with this question they'll probably throw a tantrum and turn into one of those chicks from The Hills: "It's too hard!"
No company whines more about the ps3 being "hard" to develop for. Really makes you wonder, do you WANT valve to make l4d2 on the ps3?

Personally, I feel their games are best enjoyed on the pc, with a mouse & keys and mods. Gabe Newman probably wouldn't touch a ps3 even if you coated it in butter and sugar.

Then buy it on the PC, Or get an Xbox. Don't expect it to come now that the sequel is a couple of weeks away.

That's your opinon and I respect it. I don't really feel like I should post my opinon in this thread twice, but just a heads up. His name is Gabe Newell.

I think Valve expressed it personally that they really don't like the PS3 and thus the Orange Box was probably going to be the last Valve game on the system. A tad sad honestly, no console derserves to be denied to awesomeness of Valve games.

(DAMN IT! My Valve fanboyism is just something I cannot hide!)

Here's the facts.

Valve will NOT be developing it for PS3.

HOWEVER, they would be happy to have Left 4 Dead 2 on PS3 but they claim they're not PS3 developers. So they are hiring people who can work with the PS3.

It was originally announced back in E3 09 that it might be making a PS3 debut, but this appears to have been kicked in the head.

Sounds like fishy chain mail thats been going round the PSN. I recieved one saying that there were MW2 Map Packs coming exclusivly to 360, IW shot that down. To be honest PS3 Messaging community is becoming more like the PCs.
