I have to agree with you here, anybody remember Rainbow Six Vegas 2? While supposedly a fully fledged sequel, it was essentially more of the same, and that's what I think a Left 4 Dead sequel would be like. Maybe regular new DLC maps, or an expansion pack of some sort?sgtshock said:I don't think you can really make a sequel to L4D in the same way you can't make a sequel to Counter-Strike. If you just add new maps and better graphics, then you might as well just update the old game. If you want to seriously redesign the gameplay, then you'll be getting rid of what made it special, and people will just go back to the first one.
I think the closest thing we'll get to a Left 4 Dead Two will be either (a)more updates to the first one or (b)something like Counter-Strike Source or Day of Defeat Source where it just gets updated to the new engine (which will be developed in roughly 30 years).
What about Back 4 More! As in, back for more Left 4 Dead!Bored Tomatoe said:I like Dead Be 4 Dawn.Vigormortis said:Ok then, how about: Far 2 Dead? or Dead Be 4 Dawn?Bored Tomatoe said:Dead on arrival doesn't work, needs a number.Vigormortis said:Possible sequel titles:

Yes please. Every game needs character customisation. I don't think they should bring melee weapons into it, and there will never to a construction kit for consoles. It's be too hard to make the interface work with a controller.Mray3460 said:3. Character Customization (For both survivors and Infected, with perks and custom "classes" [Note: Same types of abilities for survivor/infected type, but bonuses to be added {Boomers: Longer vomit range or greater explosion or longer bile time, Hunters: Greater leaping distance or greater damage or faster running speed, Smokers: More health or longer range or greater damage, Survivor: Greater speed or greater accuracy or greater damage or greater stealth or more carrying slots, ect.}]).
Flawless victory. Thanks for writing down my thoughts so I didn't have to.Vigormortis said:You people want more weapons? Why? How does it make sense that this random group of four people comes across a slew of exotic weapons like grenade launchers, katanas, and what have you. It's already a stretch to how often they come across those M16s, auto-shotguns, and pipe-bombs. Besides, more guns just makes it less likely you'll ever see the ones you want when the director decides to spawn some weapons for you, not to mention much, much less survival-horror like.
Also, why do you need more boss infected? It's a decent balance as it stands. The boomer creates havoc and serves as a nice road-block. The smoker can separate the group. The hunter can weed out the week and finish off anyone that's incapacitated. The tank, the few times you get to play as him, can just absolutely wreck the survivors if he's controlled correctly. Adding more boss infected would throw things out of balance and make it a test in tedium for the survivors, whom would have to worry about what else might be attacking them. Besides, what other kind of abilities would you give these new boss infected? (abilities that wouldn't be useless or just some rehash of the others abilities)
Then there's the whole, "I want to play as a common infected while I wait to respawn as a boss infected". Seriously, just quit whining. Your respawn timer is 15 to 20 seconds at most. If you're not patient enough to wait THAT long, go play Halo 3. Besides, how would you feel if you were playing as the survivors and you kept getting hit by a boomer every 5 seconds? I'd suspect a ragequit was in your immediate future.
As for custom characters and character "classes". Just shut up. Go play TF2 or COD and leave L4D to those that can appreciate it.
Admittedly, there's not a whole lot of back story, but then there wasn't much in Portal either. However, for those astute enough to pay attention and look around, there was plenty of story to be gleaned from hidden areas, wall paintings, and other such snippets throughout Portal. Left 4 Dead is the same.
I will agree that more campaigns would be a great addition, but I don't think they're desperately needed. Playing on expert provides enough variety in the level structure (even if the maps never change) that each play session still feels fresh to me. Still, new campaigns would be nice. Hell, I'd settle for just versus versions of Dead Air and Death Toll.
If it's annoying why would you want to do it? Games are supposed to be fun.Mr0llivand3r said:like after 15 minutes of nonstop action your character needs to stop for a breather or eat an energy bar or something to keep them going. it would no doubt be annoying
just because it's annoying doesn't mean it wouldn't be a clever game mechanic. could you imagine running from the zombies to a safehouse and running out of energy? it adds a new level of fear to a horror game. it's like a nightmare if you're trying to run away but you just don't have the strength.Flap Jack452 said:If it's annoying why would you want to do it? Flamethrowers are for the 10 Year Old kids that play Halo 3 and also think about playing on expert with a flamethrower... CLUSTERFUCK!Bored Tomatoe said:more exotic weapons IE chainsaws and flamethrowers.
