So i'm staring at the icon that used to be my L4D demo. It says L4D is preloaded and all I need to do to unlock it is buy the game. Questions I need your help with.

1. Does this mean, I buy this game, I can start playing it within the next hour or so (allowing for launch patches, extra stuff that may need downloading, etc)?

2. Does Steam take Debit? I heard they take Debit.

3. Should I...? I mean, I can only run the game on shitty visuals at 640x800, but it's...it's staring at me. Just staring at me...

I think you probably have to download the rest of the game, but other than that you should probably be able to play it right away. Probably.

And yes they take debit.

I bought it, they took my Visa Check card. Goddamn impulse buying...Hope this game is worth it, impulse buying always f**ks me over.

On that note, what are peoples impressions? Is the full game better then the demo?

Good, that means I can use my most hated boss zombie (Smoker) to snatch you away in versus mode.

Well I've only played the 1st Movie, and as predicted, the full version is actually more difficult.

Quick question: have they fixed the huge jump in difficulty between Advanced and Expert? Preferably by upping the Advanced difficulty.

At least you only bought L4D.
I played the demo then went and bought the sodding Valve complete pack! Anyone who says demos don't shift games is a fool.

Jesus christ is all I can say. I have to go pass out but...

Theres still a big jump between advanced and Expert, but Advanced isn't a cakewalk either.

Bump. L4D made my brain melt.
First of all, Valve needs to do something about the servers. Dedicated servers are really laggy and you can't choose them by location or ping or what have you.
Secondly, the game is slightly too mindless. OK, person, person, hoarde, person, person, witch (avoided), hoarde, smoker, person, person, hunter, hoarde, witch, YOU HAVE ALERTED THE WITCH AND HAVEN'T KILLED TO HOARDE YET, YOU DUMBFUCK.
Also, the last stage of each level is obnoxiously difficult. I got to the last bit of No Mercy and me and the others were there for a good 7 or so attempts trying to clear the 4 simutaneous hoardes, then the tank, then some more hoardes, then when you get comfortable with your slither of health, a boomer and smoker waltz in. We gave up in the end.
The AI is also fairly useless. While it's good at shooting and sometimes gives you hints as to where you should be heading, it has 0 common sense. Like they try to raise you in the middle of a hoarde or when under attack by a witch. Then they die and it's game over.

However, the game is most certainly fun. But for the love of God, play through a campaign then stop else your brain will turn to mush like mine has. Additionally, the different story and level designs give an interesting twist to proceedings, the part of No Mercy in the hospital actually scared me a little bit when we came across the witch.. She got up, killed someone then ran off down a corridor. She was back a minute later with quite a haunting scream. It still rings in my ears actually.

TL;DR Good game but repetitive with annoying habits. Online system needs tweaking.

I have just a few questions about Zoey:

1. Do you like how the final design is, by social standards, more "beautiful" than her earlier iterations?
2. What is she like as a character? I only got to play through the demo level once, and I'm curious as to how Valve depicts nerdy college-girls.
3. Does anyone else find it odd that, while the three male characters have considerable experience with weaponry, her only qualification is that she watched a lot of horror movies?

1. She looks basically the same. Doing a compare and contrast now all I can say is she's lost the dungarees. She looks not unlike Claire Redfield.
2. Well, you don't hear much from them but she comes across as the one coming up with how to get around obstacles. She seems smitten with Louis from what I can tell.
3. Not really. The old dude is a war veteran, fair enough. Louis is IT worker in an office I believe. The guy with tattoos is a guy with tattoos and a motorbike. Bar the old dude, none of them have much experience we assume.

This game looks sweet. Hopefully, if I get it, it will be the game that finally gets me off my ass to hook my Xbox up to Live. And then it will be a downward spiral from there as I blow my money on previously unnaccessible DLC for all my other games.

And on a sidenote: Woohooo! Gonzo!

I played the demo and loved it. But I didn't care for some of the new character designs.

-I liked Louis looking like some 7-11 clerk guy. The rough beard and dark, tired expression was pretty cool.

-And Francis being a little tubbier, beardier and long hair was beyond awesome. But whatever.

Great game.

i don't want to sound stupid but what is the point of left 4 dead
Basically, there's been a Resident Evil style viral utbreak, infected just about everyone in the city. There's 4 people that meet up and they have to escape. Basically like Dead Rising only with guns and less pointlessness.
