If you have your light off and havn't been shooting you should be able to get pointblank before starling her. Sneak up behind it with a shotgun or auto-shotgun, aim for head, Cr0wned.

That or avoid her completely.

I have NEVER seen that work outside of playing the game on easy.

What I do is stay a ways back, with a direct line of sight to her.
Fire a molotolv or shoot a gas can/propane tank/oxygen tank to hurt her and piss her off. (If you don't have any of those, shoot her with your pistol and switch out when she runs at you)

I always use the autoshotty. While she's running straight at you, unload the entire thing into her. She won't dodge or anything, and if she gets close just run backwards a bit.
Never fails.

I tend not to try it very often, as most of the time it fails and I end up point blank at a very angry young lady.

Usually I'll toss a molotov and then run as fast as my lil' legs will carry me, whilst my teamates bring her down.

Teamwork and unloading as much ammo into her as possible is the best stratagy if you absolutely cannot avoid her. If you have somebody who's injured, make him attempt the crown.

By the way, it took me 8 tries before I got my first crown, and I learned that the trick to it is DO NOT PANIC! Because she'll gasp and glare at you just before you're close enough to shoot her. DO NOT PANIC! You aren't close enough yet, and she's not all that fast at standing up. I've seen a shot to the face kill a witch on Advanced, and I'm pretty sure it can work in Expert too.

[edit] Another trick is to drop a pipe bomb next to her AND RUN LIKE HELL! The bomb will stun her, giving you an additional 5 seconds to run, and the instant the bomb goes off; you're tagged, you're it, your allies can open fire in safety... she's really fast though, and will chase you to hell and back! There is no escape...

YOU HAVE TO WAIT FOR HER TO STAND ALL THE WAY UP.

I see too many people get behind her and shoot her as soon as she starts to turn around. Until she stands all the way up and is ready to charge, she's invincible, and if you shoot her then, you'll miss the crown.

It takes some practice, but keep your cool and don't let yourself get too antsy about the shot and you'll see it's pretty easy.

Being the twat that I am, I like to pick on the witch whenever I see her. I never play outside of Expert, so I guess I must be one of those teammates everyone hates.
I've killed her several times, but it isn't easy. She seems a lot faster than she is, so it's very easy to start panicking and running into things. Your best bet is for the one she's chasing to fucking leg it while everyone else unloads everything they've got on her. If you have any molotovs, don't hesitate to use them.
I've never managed to kill the witch without any casualties, but I assume it can be done. It's an achievement, after all.

The problem people make is not getting the entire cartridge of buckshot to connect with her.

2 great bits of advice for crowning:

1, use the pump action shot gun, it does more damage.
2, aim for where her spine meets her head, it is a larger target then just the head, and has the same damage bonus for head shooting.

It's a good idea, but you can't hurt her when she's sitting there crying, you have to get her to stand up first, and the best way to do that is to get right up on her, at which point the shotgun is your best choice.

Not verses, it just doesn't work in that mode for some reason.

They do have more aim, but equally less power. Not enough to one hit kill her with a headshot on expert.

see i was thinking that but the rifle is bad because all the witch needs to do is run faster than the scope can move and if shes close its useless

False. I crowned her while she was still getting up.

the autoshotty does the most damage. The sniper rifle goes THROUGH enemies, the assault rifle fires many shots, but the autoshotty does the most damage.

That could be, I have just never seen it done on anything but easy. Although, I have killed her on 'normal' but standing right next to her with the autoshotty and just unloading. She barely even stood up...but it took more then one hit.

Hm.. apparently I was misinformed. I remember there being a video on the XBox awhile ago about Left4Dead where they basically said that you had to nail her once she'd noticed you and stood up a bit, but before that final scream where she starts running.

If you can just shoot her anytime, it's probably way easier than the way I've been doing it.

No, there'll never be more than 1 spawned in an area. A witch and a tank is a little uncomfortable, though.
