Here's the thing with crowning the witch.

Well that is completely and utterly false =p

It works either way. My first cr0wn was when I was running from zombies and came across a witch, and with my reflexes in L4D on expert shoot anything that makes a sound I shot her once in the back on the head, and boom, Cr0wned.

I mean for Christ sake, there are video on youtube for it.

Try a tactic called "pulling" in which one person offers to be the bait by lighting the witch on fire using a molotov or gas tank, and running away. The other teammates then unload on her as she's running after that person. If you are the bait, try to weave around obstacles so that she will hopefully get stuck on one. Of course, this is only if you all have submachine guns or no one knows how to crown correctly with a pump action shotgun. If you have an autoshotty then even if you miss the headshot just two or three shots will kill her. Just immediately back up after the first shot.

I accidentally startled a Witch the other day. I threw a pipe bomb out of a window, forgetting that there was a Witch sitting right outside it. She climbed up and went straight for me and *in a panic* unloaded my auto shotgun into her. It killed her before she reached me, which was a relief because my AI teammates didn't do a damn thing to help!

I wasn't even playing on hard and i bumped in to a boomer ~puked~ on me then while firing blinding bumped into a ***** ~pinned me~ down while my team mates where happy talking about ''i hear a witch'' and Lewis screaming '' boomer!! aaghhhh''......=__= all this happening while trying to get to the helicopter lol

A little note on cr0wning the witch: don't fire one shell into the head. Fire 9 or 10, or as many until you can be sure that she's dead, and run backward after the first shot. If you just fire one shell and watch, chances are you could do only 960 damage and she'll get up and stab you.

The other option is to arrange a firing squad. Get everyone to stand at some distance and open fire at the same time.

In L4D2, you have a few more options if someone has frag rounds. A full magazine from any non-shotgun can keep her stunned as long as you keep hitting her, making it easy for your teammates to gun down a stationary target, and even possible to kill her solo. It'll even stumble an already alert witch, buying more time. Have fun if you've got many frag-shells; I nearly killed a witch twice before she hit the ground using the SPAS-12.

Well this would've been useful before my mate though the grenade launcher would sort it. His dismay was hilarious when it chased him for five minutes screeching and arms flailing.

If on the Parish, Hard rain and Dead Center? I usually just run up behind her with a Chainsaw and go nuts. She usually dies before attacking you, but this is on Normal difficulty.

If I'm playing on Swamp Fever, The Passing or Dark Carnival, I would normally just avoid her. No point in screwing with her if she is easily avoidable. If I have to, I usually just set her on fire and run and let the others take her down while I run for my life.
