left 4 dead is a co-op first person shooter about killing zombies and, well thats it if you like story based games you shouldnt be playing this game you will be beyond dissapointed in between killing zombies and killing zombies.

the gameplay is pretty standard but functional you can crouch for increased accuracy and mellle to shove enemys away from you or your friends the appeal is in how heavily it relies on co-op as in if you stray five feet from the group while they are getting ammo you are, to quote the title left 4 dead. i know the joke was bad. multiplayer comes in three forms campaign, survival, and versus. campaign is when you and three friends go through a campaign together. survival is and absoslutely brutal mode where you ans three friends hold up in a building while zombies bum rush your scared ass. then versus is like campaign except you switch every other round to play as the zombies.

graphically on the PC it looks great on the Xbox it isnt so impressive but still nice, the lighting from your flashlight is awesome and the audio is quite impressive

the game's biggest flaw is also its main selling point it relies so much on co-op by having special zombie attacks where you are helpless until someone comes and saves you. let me give you a scenario i was on the highest difficulty setting where we had to sit in a church killing all the zombies while some asshole was ringing the church bell all 3 of my comorades fell and when i was allowed to open the door to the safe house a zombie jumped out and pinned me to the ground trying to tear my throat out, i die because no one is there to save me we have to do the whole FUCKING chapter over from the FUCKING start because of that FUCKING zombie

overall it is a fun game with only one major flaw, what did you think of this review

Not a bad start but it feels a bit short and incomplete (there are also some spelling and grammar issues but I'll let that slide), you could have included a few more points and expanded a bit more on what you thought and why (although this doesn't mean it has to be stupidly long).

I agree with your analysis and think your writing has potential if you look over it a bit more and practice, keep at it.

Again, such the gentleman.

Your review was a bit short and skimpy on the details. You could make it a bit more professional looking. But atleast it was truthful and got to the point.

Also, capitalization helps.

That "flaw" is the only thing that keeps the game balanced in versus mode, and the only thing that makes teamwork mandatory. Not only that but the chapters aren't that long (I hope you have figured out that you can go from a part of the chapter to another from the menu) 4-5 mins generally so it wouldn't put you back that much.
I respect your opinion though, and it was an OK review, but needs capitalization.

Um... capitalization helps a review a lot. The points you made were pretty good.

Try playing it without sound. It's odd to be blowing off limbs without any accompanying audio. It kills the whole "horror" atmosphere, and makes it waaay more adorable.

I was saying that about the review, it was so clumsy and yet so honest and to the point, just adorable.
Ohhhhhh. Me stupid.

I thought your review was short but fairly informative. It seemed like you started with the intention of being thorough but got a bit bored half-way through. As others have mentioned, although grammar and punctuation isn't so important in forums, a review really should be pretty tight in order to make the reading as easy and pleasurable as possible.

Oftenly one zombie or monster, or whatever you are fighting in a game, is the reason why the mission fail. That you get pinned down means that you friends should l2p so they wouldn't die. As you say it is co-op, so if you are alone, you most likely die. End of story

Great, we arent professionals, alot of you are?! A fan written review I can agree with, grammatical errors?! OH TEH NOES! We play games for fun and are reviewing them for fun. I like L4D all around, not much of a story but get some good friends to play with you and a games set up for your own story to play out.

Started off well, then at the end it just reminded me of a rage quit. Also, talk about survival mode.

*wordsmith casts lv. 10 irony*

Critical hit!

On the subject- It was quite a short review, no specifics on the actual maps themselves. What disappointed me was the complete glossing-over of the Versus mode, what appears (to me) to be the best part of the game. Other than the spelling/grammar that everyone else has picked up on, I feel that the depth was the other major points. You could have included a brief summary of the SI, but each to their own.

This review was, in all honesty, substandard.

While I appreciate that it's enjoyable for some people to write their own reviews, when you put them out on the big wide Escapist it's best to check your grammar, punctuation and spelling (which was admittedly awful, by the way).

You also made a number of unclear points such as:

"graphically on the PC it looks great"

"the gameplay is pretty standard but functional you can crouch for increased accuracy and mellle to shove enemys away from you or your friends"

We want to know why it looks great. What stands out? Does it have a unique visual style? If so, can you describe it? And what is so functional about the gameplay? We want to know why, you see, not just what you think.

Finally, that personal anecdote was very unprofessional, even for an amateur review. Try to stay away from that kind of thing.

Could have gone into greater detail but agreed with most of the points you made even if you didn't go into much detail.
Not bad I would say :)
