I agree. It's the best thing Squeenix ever made ever. I have always hoped that they would remake it one day, but it's never going to happen. The real shame is I never beat it because it was so damn long, granted I was 10 when I played it. The bigger shame is I still have it in my closet but I don't have the cords needed to hook up my Playstation.
Oh no! That blows >_<.

What about a PS22 or something? And do you remember how far you got?
I never bought any brand of Playstation. The original playstation I have I got from my uncle. I do remember that I was pretty close to the end, on the moon I think. I also remember that Lenus and the Divine Dragon are the hardest bosses I've ever fought.
Oh, I know. The Divine Dragon was a ***** to fight. But I always had trouble with the Complete Virage and Lloyd. Also the Dragoon Killer, monster. You weren't allowed to go Dragoon on him and could only attack him with either magic or normal attacks, depending on what pose it took.

Hmmm, never played this game. But I dunno, for me it's hard for Legend of Dragoon to be beat :p
Play it. Dooo it now!
Hahahah, just for you I will look for it. What type of game is it though? Like a Gundam Mech type dealy?
It's one of the original side scroll manic shooters. Although it's a little more old school and refined from the 'ohmaigawd the screen is actually just one large bullet out to get me' type of manic shooters you get these days.
It sounds quite fun. I will see if I can get an emulator for the game.

I find it strange how much this game actually gets talked about on this site. When I played it, no one had heard of it and it seems to be a cult classic here on the Escapist.

OT: I played it, never beat, but I got all the Dragoon spirits and managed to get all the way to Disc 4 before I ended losing the game completely.

I have it, but need to play it some time. I got it for free at a local shop though. I bought 3 games, and they said I could pick a 4th for free. I had heard about this, so I got it. ^_^

Does anyone remember this old game for the PSone? It is 2010 and I STILL find this to be the best game Square Enix has ever made. Beating out Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy. I think they should make a sequel, or maybe even a prequel. Or, hell, just recreating it? Maybe even put it up to buy on the Playstation Store.

What are your guys' thoughts?

Um... neither SquareSoft or Enix had anything to do with this game

It is a pretty good game though... I've always wished they would make a prequel.

Well, don't I feel like a horse's ass... I swear I've seen the SquareSoft symbol in the game. Thank you for correcting me. My only problem is that no one else noticed >_<

I'm glad I noticed this thread, Legend of Dragoon was actually my favorite PS1 game back in the day. I still play through it about once a year. I usually spend at minimum 60 hours on a playthrough and I always find something I hadn't before

Wait.... what?
Squenix did NOT make legend of dragoon.
The developers and publishers were Sony Computer Entetainment.
I'll grant you that it was an amazing game, equal to that of the greatest final fantasies or dragon quests, but neither Square nor Enix developed this title.
Get your facts straight before you create a thread.

Squenix didn't make the damn game... -.-
It was self developed and self published by sony computer entertainment to try and contend with the momentum that Squaresoft (not fucking Enix) was picking up with their new and innovative RPG titles.

My roommate has it and loves it so much so I just started playing it and it's amazing! I do think that they should make another Legend of Dragoon game, but unfortunately if they did it probably wouldn't be anywhere near as epic as the original is :(

loved that game, probably one of my favorite games ever. still have it lying around somewhere, maybe ill replay it now.

a prequel would be pretty sweet, go back to the first dragoon war and fight against the winglies. already leads itself out to an awesome story and setting for a prequel, perhaps had the game sold better it would have been made.

...It- it's not up there?
Awww...
Hahahah. No, it isn't. I was looking for it recently. Apparently a LOT of people hated it, so Square Enix scrapped it. But it has a large cult following. I remember spending hours just leveling up to beat the first boss of Disc 1, only to realize everything else in Disc 2 was much tougher lol. Oh, and buying Kongol's Dragoon Spirit, only to end up never using it because it wasn't that great. -.-
They didn't scrap it the storyline got bought by a 3rd party who has never followed up on it but the game was incredible!

*edit* not going to correct a quote about sony not being se sony is the they I am talking about.

If I remember right the group that bought the intellectual rights to the story and backdrop either died or broke up resulting in the title losing the ability to be used till the copyright expires (some 80 years from now)

No, i thought it was SquareSoft that made it. My mistake. But by scrapped it, I mean they dropped it altogether, as in: Didn't want to make more or any additions to it. Know what I mean?

I agree. Legend of Dragoon was awesome, and the ending would have been a perfect jumping off point for a sequel.

I just remember my friend playing this and the epic final battle and end movie. I loved it! I would totally love to see a sequel or another new game in the same world really. I think sony's team made this to compete with Final Fantasy didn't they? (is it on the store? I haven't looked in a while although I'd imagine it would be.)

That caterpiller (to avoid a spoiler) in the "tree" was the thing that gave me the most trouble although the divine dragon had me sweating it never really hurt me that much and only fired it's "dragon shot" (name of ability) once.

The rights were sold to a 3rd party and they had issues that kept them from creating a 2nd game saddly enough.

Oh! the Caterpillar thing! I remember that now. Yes, that thing was a ***** to fight too. I had to restart a few times.

And no need to worry about Spoilers. Thus the warning in the title :3

But for the sake of people anyways, I'll keep it slightly spoiler free xD

I can't believe though what happened at the end of Disc one. They make you fall in love with "him" then take him away. First time I played, I swear I cried ._.
