That is so awesome. I love it.

The best I could do with lego was build a Picasso like structure.

That's the problem with modern lego kits, you can only build what the set tells you.
I hate the fact that what you're saying is so true. Before all the sets just used general pieces, so you could build whatever you wanted with them, but nowadays all the sets have specialized pieces that can only really be used for that set.

Really? Don't they still snap together?

I know that I was limited only in number of pieces and imagination...
You can't get generic blocks anymore, just specific piece sets, like Bionicle or Star Wars or what have you.
I just mix and match sets. I had Dracula and The Mummy combined with Harry Potter at some point. And ninjas. And a giant space robot.

I thought you meant they were making a Lego Mass Effect, I'm glad you meant it was just a cool replica of the Normandy SR2

I have a huge crate full of the generic stuff, I really must build something cool with it.

Or just something really tall.
Build a LEGO Gabe Newell.

thats what is so great about Lego, you can have stormtroopers invade hogwarts, while ninjas and knights chase Indiana Jones through a pirate ship attached to a space shuttle heading towards the death star!

Aye, that'd be the type, but they don't seem to sell them in shops here, except for specialist enthusiast ones.

They just sell the prepackaged types.

They're stifling kids imagination!
I went down to my local bargain shop last year, and I found an epic find. They had an entire row of Lego bins filled with nothing but generic blocks. We bought four tubs.

Oh, that's not in stores here in the US either, at least not that I've seen, you'd have to get it online or a specialty shop, if they sold them in stores I'd actually be tempted to buy some, I love Legos.

I wouldn't be able to do him justice.

Yeah, it's too bad. When I was a kid, you could buy them by the bucketload. And I did.
I never had Legos of my own, I always had K'nex, it was my cousin that had Legos, of course playing with both was always awesome.

Yes, I have a shitload of K'nex as well. I also had Mechanix, which is basically like the die cast metal version of K'nex. I used to make great contraptions with that stuff.
I could never convince my parents to get me any Mechanix, those looked like so much fun.

I would, but I don't have enough blocks.

Incidentally, that's also what's so great about hallucinogenic drugs.
A miniature size Gabe Newell?
Or just a bust of him. Then you wouldn't use too many, or too little pieces.

OT: Those are freaking awesome. If I knew where my LEGOs were I'd dig them up and make some that would most likely suck.

Damn... I was expecting an announcement for the LEGO Mass Effect video game.

I don't suppose they'll start making that until they're done with LEGO Modern Warfare, though...

Oh, they were.

Tough to use though, but unlike Lego and K'nex, they stayed together when moved, meaning you could make moving things with them.
Yeah, I had a few things that were K'nex that were indestructible, but most fell apart with any heavy usage, at least they were easy to repair.
