i have played with lego and chess since a young age, and although i'm not an expert on star wars, i still think that this is truly awesome.

Yep, this is badass. I haven't been a chess player in a while, but I'd bust this thing out at every opportunity if I had one.

It's pretty awesome, but I have to nitpick the piece choices. Setting up doubles characters on one piece is just silly. Make Luke the white king, Leia the white queen, Chewie & Han the white rooks, knights should be C3PO & R2D2, and Obi-wan & Yoda the bishops. On black's side you have less main identifiable characters to choose from but Emperor Palpatine as the king, Vader as the queen, Boba Fett & Greedo as knights, Red Imperial guards as rooks, and Grand Moff Tarkin & Admiral Motti (the guy who gets choked by Vader in Ep 4) as the bishops. At least that way all the characters generally match up their role in the movie, to the point value and tactics of the pieces. Then again this is all debatable.

What the hell makes this news-worthy? It's slightly better than most of them? Logan Westbrook usually posts OK stuff, why is he scraping the barrel with this?
