Lets END the Console WAR!!

So...
The end of the console war means the end of all competition and there will be only 1 console?

The Pros:
1)More games for that single console(no exclusives)
2)No more Fan boys (go riddance0)
3)Developers will have no risk- having 1 console means that the game requires more effort to be multi-platform / or not be multi-platform at all.

The Cons:
1)No competition means no innovation.
2)The prices can be jacked sky high(there will be a limit though as no one would buy a game/console if ,say,the price of a game is $200.The market would be Industry and would die out )
)The old Fan boys moaning over the lost console.

In my opinion the war should go on, for the sake of innovation and my wallet.

If I had a dollar for every time I heard about how X-box is better than PS3 or vice versa then i would be in prison because I would have bought an M60 and RPG-4 with the money and gone rambo on all those PS3 and X-box fanboys till i finaly ran out of ammuntiton after abut 10 miniutes

Well, I guess this isn't my problem. *Goes back to playing PC games.*

In all honesty, the only console I own is a Wii, mostly because the game lineup is more interesting and on the other two consoles every other game is a shooter, and dual analog controls are absolutely terrible for shooters.

The 360 has the more powerful graphics chip therefore it usually has the "better graphics" however the difference is minimal and generally isn't noticeable unless you study screenshots or something.

The singular chip is more poweful yes, but PS3 packs more of them so it brings more horsepower to the table.
Problem comes with it's architecture, while the 360 is nearly identical to a PC(where all tools and games were developed for ages and are easily transferable) the PS3 on the other hand is a completely different structure that takes a different approach.
So when you try to squeeze out the best graphics with steady performance it comes down to optimizing your game, something that comes alot easier with a well known platform, thus they just end up doing a half arsed job on the PS3 and due to it's higher power it will still be alright but rarely be improved.

Thats the cell chip you're thinking of, for graphics the 360 has a modified radeon X1800 and the PS3 has a modified geforce 7800, these were the best graphics chips available for the PC at the time and the X1800 pulls ahead of the geforce slightly so the 360 has more graphics horsepower. As for CPU's yeah the PS3's cell had more potential than the triple core IBM power chip in the 360 but as you said devs just make a half assed job of it.

Really? You "hear" that the PS3, a console with over 40 million worldwide sales, has no good games? Did you put any thought into your list of comparisons?

Yeah, the "no good games" is really eye of the beholder stuff. I've yet to find a 360 exclusive I truly love (Fable 2 or Gears 2 probably come the closest) while I generally have a higher opinion of the PS3 exclusives. But there aren't really enough exclusives on either side to really tip the scales.

I think that the Xbox360 not using the Blu Ray format is really hurting console games. Imagine how many more features our games could have if developers didn't have to try to squeeze everything on to a DVD for games made on both the Xbox360 and the PS3.

Actually its the consoles that are the problem... consoles hurt games, there is no power for devs to work with.

I would ask for an explanation, but I'm pretty sure I already know what you're going to say.

One of my nvidia GPUs are more powerful than an xbox 360... I have 4 of them in quad sli. Yes I know not everyone has something similar, but just think of the games which could be produced if devs could work with that hardware.

Meh, I don't really bother with the console war. Waste of time in my opinion. Nothing but a bunch of people getting overly defensive about a purchase they made because they don't like the idea that they could have made the wrong choice.

Whatever, go ahead and fight. I'll just sit over here and play with my Xbox and PC and Wii and Gamecube and N64. Why limit yourself to one?

I personaly own a 360 but dont play with it (I,m mostly as PC gamer) I DONT care if my friend owns a PS3 or WII he stays my friend and isnt lesser for owning a other console I hope we dont have to go through this shit with the next generation (20$ says that we whould have this again with the next generation)
