I am not so sure they are anymore. All of trump's babysitters are gone now.. According to his former Chief of staff for the Department of Homeland Security, the people left are telling him that Trump's chains are off, and his second term will be " Shock and awe" because there is no longer anyone holding him back. Who exactly is babysitting him now? Steve Miller?! Trump micromanages everything, there is no " administration" anymore, it is just Trump now with some "yes men" who are unqualified for their positions. Who exactly is supposed to keep him in check. Everyone that tried is on that "former Trump administration official list" now.
Trump can't micromanage anything: he's got the attention span of a gnat.

He's essentially an erratic void at the top of government, pursuing stupid personal projects and self-aggrandisement with no grasp of or interest in policy to do anything that effective - including the most dangerous stuff, thankfully. The adults in the room might be gone, but as long as his narcissistic tantrums are catered to, the semi-competent adolescents in the room are able to keep the ship of state from outright capsizing.

That doesn't stop him from trying. Trump is also intensely paranoid. Sooner or later, everyone displeases Trump. And it doesn't matter how minor a transgression it was, he reacts to all slights with the same disproportionate rage. So while he prefers not to get his own diminutive, pampered hands dirty, there are plenty of other invertebrates in the White House right now happy to indulge him when he starts talking like a mob boss about how nice it would be if someone could deal with that little problem for him. Trump is a profoundly empty individual, but he is also profoundly amoral and while he is easily manipulated, we shouldn't ignore the fact that he is a manipulative user as well. I think in this particular context it would be more accurate to describe him as a walking id. That's one thing that makes him so much more dangerous than just any other random arrogant doofus.

The hope is he can't figure out how to do these scary things we do not want him to do and no one tells him how. You can expect him to be extremely paranoid and erratic right now as well after his Former Chief of Staff for Homeland Security just told him and everyone else that there would be a parade of current and former Trump Administration officials speaking out in coming weeks and talked about what current members of his staff have been saying. He goes nuts over the leaks. The worrying thing however, is he may just fire everyone who has any inkling of competency and then we won't have anyone running the government. That was one of the problems his former advisors have been telling us, he had no interest in actually doing the things he was supposed to do and fired the people who were doing them and ignored them and then no one was doing the job at all.

The way Trump " solves" problems is like when the guy who was supposed to secure Trump's cell phone when he came on, Trump didn't like the security he did to his phone and didn't like the rules so instead of actually securing his phone or using a secure device, he just fired the guy who was supposed to do and didn't replace him and instead eliminated the position so it just was not being done at all. That was why we had all those reports that Trump was using a unsecured device. He keeps doing this for numerous positions because he doesn't want the hassle that the job requires. Trump is the biggest security threat the US has right now and he has been dismantling it from the inside. Trump then claims he can do the positions that he fired or tells someone who has no clue how to do it to do it instead. After all these guys who have been operating on their own get fired by Trump in his paranoid rage fits, we just wont have anything that is supposed to be done being done at all. either that or he might just call the " My Pillow guy" for advice on what he should do... I really wish I was joking here. He has been taking Pandemic advice from the My Pillow guy and ignoring the Physicians and Scientists.

EDIT: In addition, he already IS doing some of the bad things. He has already replaced Sessions with Barr to enable him to weaponize the department of Justice and has already commenced using it against the people and political opponents in addition to having them investigate conspiracy theories. He has already illegally attempted to interfere with the elections by withholding postal funding unless they agreed to his demands. He has already told FEMA to stop paying victims what they were supposed to be paid because they did not praise him enough. He has already repeatedly ordered his staff to illegally ignore court orders due to his self described " magical authorities".. Seriously. It is already capsizing. This is already getting dangerous here and we are not even getting into his Pandemic response.
