Well I couldn't get the humans to take back their blood barrels before they left. I guess we'll just have to put them in storage. I'm not sure what point there is in keeping the things but if for some reason we ever need lamprey blood we'll be prepared.
However, when the humans were leaving they bumped into another pair of travelers. Migrants!
Evidently news about the recent lack of goblin activity has encouraged more dwarves to make the trip to Reveredtour. I guess the little kobold fiasco hasn't become widely known yet.
No offense to the last group of migrants, but I hope this bunch is more useful. We need some skilled dwarves around here.

Well it seems my hopes came true! This batch of migrants had your usual skill less dwarves, but it also had some dwarves with real military training! The most notable dwarf among them was General Veok.
I'm not sure why he calls himself General when he has no apparent connection to military leadership, and he refuses to say why. That's certainly...odd, but unlike most of the dwarves here he actually has combat skills. Again, not sure how since he has no military record. Well regardless I made him Commander of the Silvers of Heat due to his talent.
It's not that Lewism was a bad commander...well actually that is why I had him replaced. But it's not his fault! After all, he only got the job because he was the most skilled out a batch of complete novices. Though he might not even mind being demoted given what happened to him when he led the charge against the kobolds.
Commander General Veok, as he insists on being called, immediately ordered his whole squad to go out and kill some warthogs. Seems kind of pointless but hey if it gets them more training why complain? It's not like goblins are going to jump out of the trees the second they go outside.

One of the crafters finally got around to refining the raw adamantine into strands, which means we can now use it in projects. That's good...I guess, but now I might have to mine more of the stuff. I still don't feel good about doing that. Though maybe that's just because Goden kidnapped a handful of children and locked herself underground as soon as we did mine it.

I was thinking about that Kobold invasion, and what caused it to occur. Clearly something ust have driven the kobolds to attack us rather than simply send a handful of thieves. They must have been after something specific. Some kind of treasure here in Reveredtour. Or just a valuable resource. In fact, I think I know EXACTLY what they were after; lay pewter.
Obviously we need to closely guard the true wealth of Reveredtour to ensure this does not happen again! That's why I'm imposing a ban on all lay pewter items. I mean, why would kobolds bother attacking us if all we ever sold were mountains of stone crafts?

So a sort of bitter sweet thing happened today. Wolfe gave birth to another little girl, which would be a happy occasion if it weren't for the fact that her father died before she was even born.
Sad that the one of the biggest families in the fort is being raised by a single mother. Now to make matters worse, Wolfe is acting really weird. She doesn't think this is really Vallorn's baby.
She thinks it's a night child. Now that's just insane. I mean, there's nothing to indicate that the Haunted, I guess I have no choice but to call her that, is the product of one of those things. It's a perfectly healthy, happy little dwarven baby. Maybe Wolfe is just consumed with grief over Vallorns death still. I'm sure she'll snap out of it and give her child a proper name.

So...I was taking stock today, as I do every once in a while, and noticed something was amiss. Two of our soldiers had gone missing recently, and nobody had any idea where they were. Well, after spending some time checking the miasma filled cages in the animal stockpile, I solved that mystery.
I just...I don't...I mean...
HOW DO YOU GUYS LET THIS HAPPEN?!? HOW DO YOU LET THIS HAPPEN TWICE!??!

Oh dear, I've received some distressing news. A pack of ooze pods was wandering through the caverns, and since Commander General Veok refuses to stop hunting the warthogs I sent the Immortal Rags to clear them out. It seemed like a trivial task, and indeed it was up until the end. The swordsdwarf Zenkem cornered an ooze pod up on a cliff. He was ready to slice it open when it suddenly attacked with unexpected aggression. Nor of course the attack was still harmless, but Zenkem isn't known to have good dexterity.
So when the ooze pod lunged at him he lost his balance...and plummeted 20 feet down onto the hard rocky floor.
Remarkably the fall didn't kill him outright. Silent Thunder is rushing down there now to recover him, hopefully before he bleeds out. Normally I'd be worried about her going down into the caves, but the military has cleared out all the current threats so she should be okay-
