Fallout 3 was a really good start for Bethesda. Sure, the writing was all around pretty terrible and not up to the standards of the series. Sure, there were some rather large low points. (Little Lamplight, Mothership Zeta, the ending, Operat- Well, let's just say there were a lot) However, the game itself was pretty damn cool. You have to admit, despite a lot of it not making much sense, the Capital Wasteland was a well realized world and the game had a very good sense of atmosphere. Exploring was fun and Bethesda used environmental storytelling extremely well in certain areas. The quality was spread around here and there, but there were some seriously amazing segments of the game. (All of Point Lookout, the Dunwich Building and quite a few of the side locations)

Overall, a pretty good start to a reboot of a series that was dead for almost 5 years and, hey, it could have gone a lot worse. So, where does Bethesda go from there?

Well, instead of developing the next game in the series, Bethesda hands off the series to Obsidian. And well, let's just say public opinion of Obsidian is... mixed. Some say that bugs and generally rushed development schedule ruin their games, others say they surpass BioWare in terms of writing. Personally, I really like them and I've thoroughly enjoyed every game they've developed, despite the many, many flaws. (KOTOR II being my favorite, before you ask. Also, Dungeon Siege 3 I have not played and have no interest in playing in. Heard it was at least relatively bug free at least) I was pretty skeptical of New Vegas at first, but when I finally played it, I loved it. New Vegas was by far my favorite game of that year and definitely one of my favorite RPG's ever.

That being said, it wasn't perfect. At the time it was pretty buggy and had a lot of issues. (Heard console versions were/are worse.) A lot of a it has been patched out, but it still isn't great. (Though, I'd argue I've had way more bugs, crashes and general weirdness with Skyrim than either Fallout 3 or New Vegas)

Is this Let's Play screenshot or video?
This Let?s Play is a screenshot one, for the same reasons as before. Fallout: New Vegas is just as buggy as Fallout 3 (Or more buggy, depending on your personal experience) and is just as ill suited to video, in my opinion. Still don't have the tech to do so, and besides, I really don't think you would want to hear me commentating on a game.

Will this Let?s Play focus on being funny, or actually focus on analyzing the game?
Same as before, I'm still trying to find a balance between the two.

Will you be using any mods/DLC?
Unlike Fallout 3, I will not be using a UI mod or anything. As of update 3, I have a UI mod [http://forums.bethsoft.com/topic/1143482-wipzbeta-darnified-ui-nv/] that I am using, mostly because the PC UI of New Vegas is shite. I do have a radio mod for my own personal enjoyment, but aside from that, nothing. There will definitely be one or two mod showcase updates however, so keep your favorites in mind for when the time comes.

All of the DLC is installed (Including Courier's Stash and Gun Runners' Arsenal) and will be played through.

Will this be in a narrative format, or more in a straight-forward, describe the game style?
I?m going to describe the game through screenshots like before. I will be doing the same thing that I did with Fallout 3 with the log updates and maybe a bit more than that.

Still wanting to stick in character as much as possible.

What's the purpose of this LP?
Much like the Fallout 3 Let's Play, I want to show off the things that this game did well, and the things that it didn't do so well. (Yes, despite New Vegas being one of my favorite games, it has it's fair share of flaws.) Unlike the Fallout 3 LP, where I just went through as a good karma character and that was it. I will be doing every different main quest path in separate playthroughs, and showing off all of the major sidequest and DLC outcomes that I can.

That's a pretty big undertaking, but I do like New Vegas enough to do it.

Will the readers have any say in how the Let?s Play plays out?
In the Fallout 3 LP, I only actually asked for opinions a few times. I apologize for that, but since this LP will be covering a good majority of the possibilities in the main quest, I will probably will only be asking for your guys choices for minor things. You will get input on the character alignments and such though.

How often will you update?
The updates will probably be much more staggered than Fallout 3's. I won't have as much spare time as I had before, and like I said, there is a lot of ground to cover with this LP. As a result, I've decided to make my updates longer and more detailed, to make up for the slower pace of updates.

Can I post my own playthrough in the topic?
I encourage you to do so. No, in fact, I beg you to. Different points of view and opinions will seriously help make this an interesting experience. All you need is a decent way to capture screenshots and you?re set. Doesn?t matter if it?s just a couple pictures of your character, or a full on playthrough. It could even be of other Fallout games. Hell, even Tactics or Brotherhood of Steel if you got them. Video, narrative, all of it is good. Even just retellings of interesting experiences you've had with this game. I?ll include your posts in the first post if you ask as well.

Anyone who was posting during the Fallout 3 LP can continue to do so, that was partially one of the reasons why I kept it in the same topic.

How are you doing the dialogue?
Same way as I did it in Fallout 3. Everything being said is in game, anything that I added into the conversation myself will be noted beforehand.

Normal quotes are from characters in the game.
Italicized quotes are the player responses.
Anything outside quotes are my personal comments.

No unmarked spoilers in this topic please.

Like last time, I'll need opinions on what kind of character build we will be going with. Just for simplicity's sake, the first playthrough will be Independant. Anything character related other than that is fair game.

Name suggestions? (Best one wins)
Lily. Why?
According to this [http://www.behindthename.com/name/lily] it implies "purity". Anyone who has played Fallout 3 should know why I think this is a good name
Gender? (Majority)
Female
Karma/Alignment ?(I?ll either go with the games karma system, or alignment if you want to be more specific)
Very Good
Tagged Skills? (Again, if there?s an overwhelming amount of people who want a particular skill, that will be chosen)
Small Guns, Barter, Speech
Stats? (Either specific SPECIAL builds or just general archetypes)
Generic run-n-gun build. Which allows for you to get out of situations with the use of speech
Anything else?
Nope. Looking forward to it.

Name suggestions? (Best one wins)

I always do "Lone Wanderer" for boring reasons.

Gender? (Majority)

Female.

Karma/Alignment ?(I'll either go with the games karma system, or alignment if you want to be more specific)

Neutral

Tagged Skills? (Again, if there's an overwhelming amount of people who want a particular skill, that will be chosen)

Small Guns, Repair, Explosives

Stats? (Either specific SPECIAL builds or just general archetypes)

Slide Charisma to 1, boost Perception and Agility to seven, Strength to eight, distribute the rest in any other way.

Anything else?

If it is male, make him have a bright green moustache.

Name: Alice, so that you shall be Alice in the Wasteland!
Gender: Female (obviously)
Karma: Good, so you can side with the Regulators and wear one of those bad-ass dusters!
Tagged Skills: Small guns (out of necessity), Stealth, and Speech as to pull off our sneaky, sexy, gun-toting heroine.
Skillz: Strength 5, Endurance 5, Agility 7, Perception 6, Intelligence 5, Charisma 6, and Luck 6.
Other: Biker goggles, as not wearing a pair with a leather outfit is a major post-apocalyptic faux-pas. And blonde, as we are Alice in Wond-- er, the Wasteland.
Perks: No sexy, sneaky, gun-toting wasteland heroine should be without the Black Widow perk so she can con her employers out of more money before shooting them in the nu-- er, politely accepting her reward (maybe we should be evil after all...)

Done for now! Editing may take place as I think more on it.

EDIT 1: Weapon of choice, scoped .44 magnum, because a revolver fits with the slight wild west/wasteland cowgirl motif and manual scoping will work with sneak for long-range sneak attacks.

EDIT 2 [perks galore!]: Gunslinger, for it's obvious complimentary abilities to our small guns skill; Silent Running to sneak better; and (optionally) Entomologist if we get our science skill high enough because our sexy, sneaky, gun-toting heroine should FUCKING HATE BUGS!

I present,

Eduardo Prancibald: Gentleman master of Fisticuffs!

Gender: Male (though it might be hilarious to have a lady named Eduardo)
Karma/Alignment: Very Good (otherwise he would be a scoundrel)
Tagged Skills: Unarmed, Speech, and I-couldn't-think-of-an-appropriate-third-one-so-just-go-with-repair-or-something.
Stats: Strength, Endurance and Charisma have to be above average
Must have some distinguished facial hair.

Also, I want to point it while at the start tagged skills are important, the further we get into the game, we max out more and more skills. Any particular perks that you guys like so that I can keep them in mind when leveling? (I don't do the "+5 to a particular skill" perks. Rather useless, there are skill points a plenty)

I could really go for a good Fallout LP, one of my favorite environments.

Name: I liked CM156's idea, so go with Lily.
Gender: Female
Karma: The best you can be.
Tagged Skills: Speech, Barter, and Lockpick or Science (Growin' up in the stable makes you want to avoid violence, so you're not gonna have much combat experience)
Stats: Int/Cha heavy, light on str/end

Mostly just try to avoid violence when you can, focusing on more peaceful means to rectify conflicts.

Name: How about "Dictionary"? You could nick-name them "Dic" for short when you get frustrated. Or just use a random word from a Dictionary - it makes things more interesting that way.
Gender: Go for male. They have more interesting character designs.
Karma/Alignment: Bad Karma - how much so is entirely up to you, for entertainment value.
Tagged Skills: Definitely Speech (for interesting dialogue), energy weapons, lockpicking.
Stats: High Charisma, Strength and Luck
Anything else: Obscurely-coloured hair is a must.

I just edited my post to include some perks to fit the style of character I posted. Also, feel free to add the "Intense Training" perk at level 3 to any S.P.E.C.I.A.L. ability you see fit, since the only other options at that point (besides black widow/lady killer) are "skill" perks.

I'm glad most people are picking good karma. Makes the main quest make much more sense, but would you guys perhaps like to see any opposite outcomes from the major choices we make as we go along?

Tag Sneak, Lockpick, and the last one I don't care.
Be a stealth based character, and beat Op Anchorage so you can have the Chinese Stealth Armor and Winterized T-51b Power Armor, for these are the best armors in the game and Chinese Stealth Armor makes being stealthy so much easier.

Hhm... that's a tough question. I'll have to go with no, though. Most people who are going to watch your video have probably played before and likely know the repercussions of the various choices. Plus for you it would mean playing though and editing basically more of what you just got done doing, meaning more effort on your part (not that more effort is necessarily a bad thing, but it's still work.)

I'm actually getting really excited about this now, for some strange, nostalgic reason. I should probably stop posting to avoid attracting more competition.

One last note, I recommend checking out the LP of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords on lparchive.com. It's a screenshot LP like you're doing, and also blends humor and discussion of the game's themes and philosophies. If you haven't made screenshot LPs before, this would be an example of a really good one. If you have, you can still appreciate it for just being really good.

Hope this helps.

That's actually my favorite Let's Play. Really made me appreciate the game much more, and while I doubt I'll do anything near that level, at the very least I want to compare and contrast the differences in themes between the different games in the series, while centering around Fallout 3.

I recently started reading that one myself. Really was just interesting to actually see all the cut content since I can't get the restoration mod for Xbox.
