Speaking of that, translation isn't 1:1. The Bible has gone through several languages and English is FAR from the first one. Christians know this. The original word, which let's not forget, was written by humans in the first place, has been through numerous translations, meaning it's been subject to many different interpretations before arriving in the form we know it in now. There isn't even just one English-language Bible. What that says to me, and it's common sense that anyone reading it should realize this... it means that the words written on the pages may be vastly different in form and meaning from the original book. Even if every sentence were meant to be taken literally, which I highly, highly doubt, the meaning would be completely lost by now.
I like the messages in the Bible. The morals in there are usually fairly solid and it's the foundation of an organization about faith, well-meaning acts of kindness and overall getting along better with everyone. That its followers prefer to skew those messages into specific rules about homosexuality and other things only tells me they prefer to be sheep, following along with the pack rather than using their holy book as a general moral guide and finding their own meaning in it. Rather than loving their neighbors as themselves, they choose to hate and set down rules that were never meant to be rules.
I know not every Christian is like this. I know not every religious person is like this. But it's just sad, because I know for a fact that trying to hurt others and taking other people's freedoms is not in line with the TRUE message of their faith. Religion can be this wonderful thing but there's a frightening number of people out there who seem bent on using it to make life suck for anyone who doesn't blindly follow their faith.
Two of my favorite double standards:
Rape is one of the worst things that can happen to a woman and is most certainly nothing to laugh about. Prison rape against men though is hilarious.
Slapping a woman is domestic violence, it is evil and illegal. Only a monster would do it. On the other hand, slapping men, kicking them in the groin and throwing objects at them is not only ok, but humorous.
Oddly enough, while there's no doubt that finding rape and violence against men ok (and funny) is wrong, someone will try to defend it or worse, turn it around and blame the male victims.

The whole notion of the "deserving" poor. They're all undeserving, otherwise charity wouldn't be neccesary.

This is not silly, this is grim. A double standard full of hate and vile bigotry and violence, wouldn't recommend reading if you are in a cheerful mood.
I did find one double standard coming from MRA members over a recent 'SCUM' video released in Sweden. Essentially it was a rather gruesome video of young women killing a man for no reason and then celebrating, it was a staged depiction of violence that was horrific and wrong and should be banned. However the MRA members went the other way completely trying to put a bounty on the women's names, addresses, phone numbers and work contacts.
Essentially they were going to put their personal details up publicly and set it up in such a way that if a psychopathic killer wanted to, he could totally find them and hurt them. They didn't just do this for these actresses who staged violence however, also on the list are feminist bloggers and authors and even women who did nothing but question the MRA.
The double standard is that they claim to hate the celebration or glorification of violence in that SCUM video (an ad for a play incidently) and they decided the best course of action is to stalk, threaten and harrass the women involved and even though they themselves aren't going to hurt or kill them they are putting in resources to give a potential psycho the tools to do just that.
And they aren't just doing it for the video makers, they are doing it for just about every woman they see. So fictional depictions of violence are bad but stalking and threatening people and trying to get their home addresses and contact details to post online for any psychopath to find is okay?

He said this to a rape victim. In order to win a petty argument on Reddit he decided to purposefully attempt to trigger PTSD into a rape victim and then later whined like he was somehow a victim.
Personally I don't think there is a swear word vile enough for him and he should carry the stigma of that around his neck for the rest of his life. Because he is truly that appalling. Also should note that he was, at the time, taking support from the MRA section of reddit.
Thing is I consider myself a male feminist and I believe there are injustices that need to be addressed toward's mens issues as well (and every feminist I have ever met agrees with me on that). That is why the Amazing Athiest and the MRA and all of that make me so angry, they are the worst possible people to be representing this ideology, purely founded in hatred and misogyny and juvenile name calling.
I've never once seen the Amazing Athiest or any MRA member actually provide solutions for any of these 'mens issues' they keep bringing up. Instead they seem more content to just piss and moan like children.
