That's not a double standard, it's a preference. It's not a double standard for me to like pears but hate apples. It is a double standard to think that lesbian sex is a-okay while homosexuality is morally wrong.Duskflamer said:People who think lesbians are hot but gay guys are gross.
I always find this really strange.Helmholtz Watson said:Ummm.... I don't know how to break this to you, but there are people [http://www.massresistance.org/region/newyork/images/statehouse_2535_480.jpg] who are not hypocritical about that.Muspelheim said:Now, my example:
Homosexuality is wrong, because it says so in the Bible. Abominable, even. Harrumpf!
It also says in the Bible that you're not allowed to wear clothes made out of two different materials. Oh, that's just a metaphore or something, don't bother...
No he was referring to the porn scenario where the plumber shows up to fix the house's pipes, and ends up having sex with the woman of the house, same thing as with the pizza guy and the pool boyZen Toombs said:Um, are you talking about transgendered people? Because that's gender, not sex. Gender is what's in your head, sex is what your parts are.RedBird said:Helmholtz Watson said:.....I...I don't know what to say to somebody that takes their social ques from porno.Shawn MacDonald said:Really isn't that different. Alot of men have shaped their opinions of women through porno. Make it a point to tell me that we don't get influenced by what we see because it is not real life. Pretty much everyone on the planet has been influenced by some other means that may not ring true in the world around them.Vault101 said:but this has nothing to do with porn..I'm talking about real life...they are very differentShawn MacDonald said:really want you to see how guys can see it as being shameful. All guys don't think this way(myself included) but some do. Most of the time in porno, women are being degraded. Paying them to have sex on screen, but it is not always just that. After all there are pornos where the guy tries to to see how far he can shove his member down her throat as she gags for air. Really gross ones where all the men beat off into a cup, then the women drinks about a pint of semen. Don't think it's wrong for a women to enjoy sex, but the simple act of penetration is where guys start judging them. Of course it's not hard to see why. Some woman has had sex in every hole and some guy finds out about it, he tends to put her on a lower standard if he is not dating her.
yeah the natural reaction to somone who sleeps around and apears to have little self worth is negatve <-and mabye theres a correlation there (just going by anecdotal evidence)
but then people can be into all kinds of things, if they want to indulge whatever then thats their thing..regardless of gender
Ummm, Sometimes plumbing doesn't mean sex?
As for Mr. MacDonald's comment... well, I can accept pornography shaping SOME men's views on women, but far from "alot [sic] of men".
Oh, my bad. Thank you, editing my post now!artanis_neravar said:No he was referring to the porn scenario where the plumber shows up to fix the house's pipes, and ends up having sex with the woman of the house, same thing as with the pizza guy and the pool boyZen Toombs said:Um, are you talking about transgendered people? It's all in the portrayal, just look at American History X.Crono1973 said:Two of my favorite double standards:
Rape is one of the worst things that can happen to a woman and is most certainly nothing to laugh about. Prison rape against men though is hilarious.
Slapping a woman is domestic violence, it is evil and illegal. Only a monster would do it. On the other hand, slapping men, kicking them in the groin and throwing objects at them is not only ok, but humorous.
Oddly enough, while there's no doubt that finding rape and violence against men ok (and funny) is wrong, someone will try to defend it or worse, turn it around and blame the male victims.
That's probably why you should ask a orthodox Jew for the correct interpretation of the "old" testament.Eventidal said:snip
Added the movie to my Netflix Queue. Indeed, men can get an erection passed out and women can rape them. Of course, it's only rape if the genders were reversed.artanis_neravar said:It's all in the portrayal, just look at American History X.Crono1973 said:Two of my favorite double standards:

I do agree with you though, and even worse is the idea that "Woman can't rape men"
That is the single greatest thing I have ever seen in my entire life.Faux Furry said:That phrase makes me think of an episode of the Powerpuff Girls which happened to be about double standards.Nathan Crumpler said:Epic phraseGistoftheFist said:Equal rights, equal fights.
Yes,Captcha, I do "take umbrage" with double standards.
Maybe I'm wrong but don't most Bible-centric religions follow only the new testament these days? The old one has all sorts of lovely (insane) messages in it, which leaves the people scrutinizing its every word and shouting that across the rooftops as truth open to arguments of people saying, "If X then why not Y? They're in the same book."Helmholtz Watson said:That's probably why you should ask a orthodox Jew for the correct interpretation of the "old" testament.Eventidal said:snip
Well I think some Jewish people would have to politely disagree.Eventidal said:Maybe I'm wrong but don't most Bible-centric religions follow only the new testament these days?Helmholtz Watson said:That's probably why you should ask a orthodox Jew for the correct interpretation of the "old" testament.Eventidal said:snip
Not quite. What happened was he got into an argument with a group of feminists and the topic became about 'triggers' (you know that words or phrases can invoke trauma or PTSD into a person suffering from such) of which he was a vocal opponent, he didn't believe that was possible.OhJohnNo said:That video makes some good points actually, but it's pretty clear that guy starts overreacting a little when he implies men are becoming an oppressed minority. Didn't he also once have a huge rant on reddit in which he outright said this girl he disagreed with should be raped?Faux Furry said:Then, there is also this mess [http://youtu.be/4JA4EPRbWhQ].
Just curious, reading the thing above... do you still think he's awesome?Torrasque said:Yep, I've seen this video. AA is fucking awesome, he is my favorite ranter to listen to on youtubes.Faux Furry said:Then, there is also this mess [http://youtu.be/4JA4EPRbWhQ].
Just warning you, it is a very graphic movie, and it is done in a way unlike the action movies where killing is no big deal.Crono1973 said:Added the movie to my Netflix Queue.artanis_neravar said:It's all in the portrayal, just look at American History X.Crono1973 said:Two of my favorite double standards:

Not to mention that men can get aroused without wanting too. But I think the hardest reason (no pun intended) for people to believe that men can be raped by women is their reaction to trauma. While both men and women would be upset about being assaulted or raped, in our society many men believe that it is not OK for them to cry, so they try to act tough, and the best way to seem tough while preventing yourself from crying is to get mad. in general it seems that people have an easier time sympathizing with the crying woman than with the pissed off man.Indeed, men can get an erection passed out and women can rape them. I know that wasn't directed at me, but your post confirmed what I already suspected of him. From the first thirty seconds where he refers to the women of The Talk as c***s and describes their show as as mindless c***s sitting around and talking about their problems.Vrex360 said:Just curious, reading the thing above... do you still think he's awesome?Torrasque said:Yep, I've seen this video. Women turn on the waterworks to get all kinds of sympathy and favors. Men get mad and are called jerks and abusers. Men don't dare cry lest they want to be made fun of.artanis_neravar said:Just warning you, it is a very graphic movie, and it is done in a way unlike the action movies where killing is no big deal.Crono1973 said:Added the movie to my Netflix Queue.artanis_neravar said:It's all in the portrayal, just look at American History X.Crono1973 said:Two of my favorite double standards:
