Are you done arguing semantics?Chrinik said:You acknowledge that not every german soldier was a Nazi, yet still call them Nazis...Aeonknight said:Battlefield doesn't necessarily count... yea you can play as a german soldier but there's really no context to it. You might as well be red team/blue team, it'd make as much sense. No one plays Battlefield games for the solo campaign, maybe 3 will change that.Chrinik said:Battlefield has you play both sides, Red Orchestra has you play as a Wehrmacht soldier, in Sniper Elite you play an american (?) special operative that officially works FOR the germans killing soviets (you wear a german uniform and all)...Aeonknight said:Here's one for a twist. How about where you play as a nazi? Can't think of any games off hand that have you playing as the bad guys.
BUT I dislike playing as a Nazi...I would rather like playing as a german, thank you very much.
YES, there IS a difference, it is significant!
Red Orchestra... never played it.
Imo, a well developed solo campaign from the POV of a german through things like... the invasion of france, bombing of britain, etc. But also add in personal moral dilemma (since not every Nazi agreed with what was being done, some just followed suit so as to not be persecuted themselves) for character development. Could be pretty good.
That´s like me calling all north americans "republican"...
A Nazi was a member of the NSDAP or a follower thereoff, a National Socialist, not a german per se, as Hitler was Austrian, and therefore not a Nazi? I doubt it XD
I once made the suggestion to play a full fledged, heiling Nazi, who then gets shipped off to war, and after initial success in Poland and France, then slowly realizes he doesn´t like what is becoming of germany and serriously doubts the actions of his "Führer", and deep in Russia, he makes a complete Heel-Face-Turn, maybe abandons his post, and joins the soviets or whatever, to retake Berlin. Maybe his entire squad joins in and become traitors to the Reich...that would be interresting.
I like that idea. Also, people complaining about WWII shooters need to open their minds and wish for something better.AmrasCalmacil said:*extended game idea about playing as a Nazi*Aeonknight said:Here's one for a twist. Brothers in Arms, although the Hells Highway departed from reality in the last half of the game the feeling of squad combat and instant death is there.Dense_Electric said:You want to "capture the feel" of WWII, then suggest World at War? What?
I suggest you try Brothers in Arms some time, you'll never go back to CoD.
No, but that might make a kickass entire game, though.TheIronRuler said:Stalingrad wasn't a battle.Kadoodle said:Still, I'd like to see the most famous battles done right. I want to see D-day. I want to see Stalingrad. And I want to see them done well, and to stay true to actual battles and events. I'm talking the most realistic and historically accurate WWII game to date. Sure, more discreet battles are okay, but we need to see the big ones done correctly first.Valate said:It would take more discreet battles (Italy?) More content, more opportunities, and more interaction. Certainly better graphics(Apparently game developers JUST RECENTLY learned that making everything glossy isn't realistic?) Also, It would require important and prominent ally characters that are persistent until the end, whatever that may be. Basically, it would have to have a lot of RPG, and possibly RTS elements involved, which is typically rare.
Stalingrad was a siege.
It was a siege that lasted for months, vicious urban fighting and close querters insane melee fights for your life, lines being broken and shifted as houses trade hands every day.
That CAN'T be A SINGLE battle.
I don't think you understand why it's always WW2: it's WW2 because it's easy. You don't have to explain the conflict or why these guys are shooting at those guys, since if the player doesn't know why the Russians were fighting the Germans at Stalingrad or the Americans were fighting the Germans at Normandy you can just shake your head and blame it on the failure of our education system and / or the Youth of Today.KaiRai said:I'd like to see some other wars done. What about a WW1 shooter? Shit that'd be good. Falklands? Serbian war? How about one of the conflicts in Africa?
