I don't got on it very much, usually I go on, have a brief look at recent posts and leave. I don't post that often either BUT it was through Facebook I found out one of my friends from University moved to the area I live so we were able to meet up after not seeing each other for over 3 years.

I use Facebook quite often actually. I only caved into it because all my friends were on it and I live in the country and the only person that's within walking distance is my girlfriend. It's a real (expensive) pain in the ass to keep texting people so I guess talking through the internet is the next best thing. I only have people that I know (and like) on my friends list and excluding family members so that leaves it at around 25.

I have a facebook I check like, once a month if that, I only got it in the first place so that everyone would shut the hell up telling me to get a facebook, apparently it doesn't work like that, if I was going to be on it constantly I would've got one before people told me to, not my thing really

I check Facebook if I'm talking to someone or if I'm doing nothing else at the time. I think I should do a friends cull though. I'll just check how many I have, but it's too many.

Right, 235. A reasonable number should be around~50, yes? How should I decide who to cull?

I use it quite often but I don't post post too much so I just think there's no point checking it a lot because there's not much for anyone to comment on.
I had to stop liking company pages because it opened my eyes to how fucking stupid and miserable the general public are. If a company post a picture of their product, you'll get a stream of people writing "This is shit! It looks/tastes vile! Fuck this company I hate them! ***** ***** ***** I didn't get hugged enough as a child etc."

I have family and friends all over so it's useful for me. I do dislike the way some of the people who don't have one when they act all high and mighty and "Hurr hurr, I'm not like you sheeple with your Facebook, you're all cocks, etc."

I'm in charge of volleyball nights out, having a place where they're all together is really really handy, and it lets me talk to people who live miles away for free. It's a useful tool, although I do also admit to some addiction. I enjoy talking and communicating to my friends back home far too much.

i use it sparingly.
It is useful and fun to use when I am in a good mood, but when life is not so peachy, it can make me feel depressd even more to see how happy everyone else is.

*Quietly shoots down facebook tab*

... Ok, now it's gone, I can speak freely. It's useful for keeping in touch with my friends, and organising stuff, but bloody hell, it's such a massive time sink. I almost always have it in at least one tab, and then I occassionally flip over to it to scroll down my newsfeed over and over... Even when I know there's nothing new there. :/

*Shoots facebook back up*
HEEEEEY FACEBOOK, I'M BACK.

I Haven't really heard many good things about it. I created one years ago and never logged back on.

Also, from the news I've read, I can conclude that when people log onto Facebook they have a high possibility of suffering a case of the stupid.

I dislike it immensely, but I use it as it's how my friends organize everything like parties, which is understandable I guess as it's free unlike using a phone.

I have Facebook and I use it sometimes. It's a nice way of communicating with friends from high school, I find people to sell old text books to, I can organize meeting friends and message several people at the same time.

It does nothing new or interesting that no-one hasn't done before, but the advantage is that pretty much everyone uses it so I wont have to convince anyone to use this or that messenger or talk to people using a different messenger with some compatibility issues. I don't share much, right now I don't even use a picture of myself as a profile picture because I changed it prior to a concert a year ago and I haven't bothered to change it to something else.

I'll try to use it in order to contact a friend of mine who's going to spend half a year in South Africa, but for the most time I check it maybe once a day or so. It's practical, but I don't spend much time using it.

Avoid it like the plague?
This.

I don't have a facebook, and I don't really want one.

I just find the whole thing tedious, and I can't stand the level of importance it seems to have these days.
I held out for a loooong time. Finally though, the straw that broke the camel's back was that damn steam achievement. Now it's just sort of become a useful tool for organising events and getting friends together.

I'm pretty much with OP here.
All I do is look if someone has sent me a message and chat with friends.
I think it's close to 6 months ago since I made my last status update
I keep in touch with friends in the chat that don't live close by anymore, and that's basically it

I'll join the "I don't use Facebook" crowd.

I don't really hate it, although the level of importance some people assign to it can be annoying. But that's more of a fault of those people themselves rather than Facebook.

It's just not for me. I just don't really see what it would add to my life beyond wasting time and I've got plenty of others things for that purpose.

I have a Facebook account because I have a lot of friends that live in different countries and it makes it easier to stay in touch, but I will not go on Facebook for days at a time, and don't do that many status updates, so I wouldn't say it was an integral part of my life. However, The escapist is a different matter entirely. I can spend hours here and not get bored.

I joined few years ago only to get a code for the Dead Space 2 multiplayer beta. Soon after that, everyone i know found me, so there was no escape.

I dont mind it though, I have too many friends I dont see for months, so its a good way to reach anyone now that everyone uses it.
I abandoned like 2-3 other sites and MSN where people wanted to contact me. Now I only look at Facebook every now and then, so its perfect.

I often forget I have a facebook. And I hate to go and check it - mainly for being lazy updater and I cant be arsed to see or hear what the fuck my friends have done when I can ask it from them face to face.

But yeah I have it to support groups, get information about the events from the groups I am part of. (because not all events are informed mouth to mouth)

But I do not get why people are so addicted to their facebook, like their life hangs in it's grasp. Hell... The young 4th horn player in my orchestra cant keep hes hands off he phone's facebook app... EVEN DURING GIGS! I need constantly slap hes wrist about it.

Tho twitter I follow quite reqularry, mainly because it updates right to my phone's main screen... And the people I follow are fucking HILLARIOUS to read on the toilet or during work's slow moments.

I don't have one. I'm really not particularly interested in the everyday stuff that happens to my friends. Especially seeing as most of it is just inane bullshit like what to have for lunch. And what they are doing right at this moment. It seems like facebook is full of the type of conversations you have with people when you can't think of anything interesting to say.

And to me saying nothing at all is preferable to that.

I don't hate Facebook as much as a lot of people on here. Whilst I have it open a lot, I never use my laptop to just check Facebook; I just have it on in the background (these days I'm usually using Stumbleupon, which is if anything, an even bigger waste of time). I don't have anyone on it that I don't know, but there's a lot of people that I haven't talked to since I left school or earlier. I'm interested in how they'll turn out though, and a few of them are quite funny.

I can see why people don't like it, but for fuck's sake, I have absolutely no idea how my friends would ever manage to organise an event without it. It's also handy for finding out what my favourite bands are up to these days.
