i was listening to the radio a while back, and heard there was something called the National Toy Hall of Fame. he went on and listed some of the things in in, like Lego, Lincoln Logs, Tonka Trucks, and the Radio Flyer Wagon. but there were two items that made me pause for a moment and thing about; the cardboard box and the stick.
http://www.toyhalloffame.org/toys is the link to the site)
after looking at it, i have decided the stick and the box are probably the 2 best ones in there
so the questions: which do you think are the best, and what was the favorite toy you played with as a kid

BOXES FTW! Seriously, when I was five we got a new fridge, and I played power rangers in that box for HOURS! Then it fell over, got caught on a chair and I had a panic attack as I was trapped for two hours, but it was still awesome.
Mine burned down, fell over and then sank into the swamp.

But yeah big cardboard boxes and forts were the best ever. I should go make one when I get home from work.

Lego hands down, I loved it to no end.
Lego was my staple childhood toy, I still have several large bins full of the stuff at my parents house and I hope when I have kids I'll be able to pass it down to them...or maybe hoard it to myself. Probably hoard, but they can have new Lego as long as I get a duplicate.

My Barbies were my favourite until I was six or seven, then Gameboy took over soon after.

Boxes and sticks were a constant though. Combined with saucepans which sadly aren't there.

Fuckin' loved Action Man. All the imagination playing without the limitations of my own tiny little child body.
Thinking back, it was probably a LITTLE homoerotic how often his shirt somehow got damaged and cast aside in battles to the death.

Lego would have been fun but I was too puny to put the blocks together properly. They always fell apart. Plus we had like twelve pieces total.
One time I went to my friend's house and he had all these fucking Legos and I about shit myself.

Boxes - Endorsed by Solid Snake.

But seriously, my favourite toys were Transformer's, Bionicle(I liked to build and transform things) and Dragon Ball Z figurines.

Anyone who has read Calvin & Hobbes knows that the cardboard box is the greatest toy ever.

Lego, you could create anything.
And why is't Action Man on there? AM was the shit when I was a kid, I think I still have mine laying around. I had Scuba AM, Mountain Bike/Climber AM, about 3 different Doctor X's and the animation was the best. Just Awesome.

Boxes, sticks, cloth, other such waste can be more fun than most of the expensive plastic crap that's marketed to them. They're blank canvasses for the imagination.

That reminds me of how I had a crush on the Saucepan Man from the Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton.

Plastic swords (until I realised sticks were more effective), lego bricks, binoculars, beanie babies, and anything made out of that really stretchy rubber or the really bouncy rubber were my favourite manufactured toys. I also had one of those tubular plastic wands with glitter and water in it, but I just liked the way it looked and didn't know what to do with it except hit stuff with it or watch the glitter set in one end twirl it around again and watch the little air bubble at the top. I liked matchbox cars but I hated when one of the axles became bent and made the wheels misaligned.

Pretty much lego (I remember I had buckets full of them) and my personnel favourites Transformers (the G1 toys).

As far as child-me was concerned, lego was the single greatest thing ever. I never really wanted to play with things after I built them, I just really enjoyed building.

Honourable mention to sticks are cardboard boxes for being generally awesome.

I have a massive Megazord collection.

Stopped at Operation Overdrive because the quality was that of a McDonalds toy.
Quality of series did not affect my choice in my buying trasnformable robots.

Boxes and sticks are by far the best.

After that, probably LEGO...or Mega Blocks work too...

After that, Creepy Crawlers or Transformers.
