As far as I can tell, the most prominent feature of dubstep - more than the drop, or samples, or even the wub wub wub - is that wherever and whenever it comes up, some dick feels the need to tell you how That's Not Real Dubstep and They Don't Make Good Dubstep Any More and You Kids Get Off My Lawn. Of course, everybody else knows what it is.

Therefore, hazar.

Can't embed soundcloud, and most of his decent stuff isn't on youtube, so links.

And how about some christmas dubstep? I usually find music which is religion-peripheral in any way distasteful, but this one was good enough to make my playlist.

Lemme just put some stuffs here. I put some dubstep like how it used to be. Where it actually made the "wub wub" sounds that people associate dubstep with. =D
Used these videos cuz the pics are cool. ^-^ I'll put real song names.
Song name: Terror Dome ------------vv
Song name: Bail Out -------------------vv
Btw you should listen to Hardcore! It's my favourite genre! No, you don't want to? K... ( ._.)
These songs are most likley good, but I just came to say that I love your avatar! ^^

Well, if anything, I prefer calmer stuff as opposed to the stereotypical heavy "wub wub" noise.

Here's one that I particularly enjoy:

I really do like Blackmill, and well, here's more if you enjoy that:
http://www.youtube.com/user/BlackmillMusic?feature=watch
Blackmill is awesome! I really like this song of his. I've seen his stuff referred to as melodic dubstep or whatever, I'm by no means an expert on the classification of this stuff. Brostep, Dubstep etc. If it has wub wub in it then it's in imo :p

Also one thing I love about the more blissed out electronic music, whether it's liquid D&B or melodic dubstep or anything like that, is that they always find amazing images to go with their music.

I really only know mainstream dubstep artists. Skrillex, Deadmau5, At Dawn We Rage, etc. I do like it, though.
Whoa??? "Deadmau5" as a dubstep artist? Link or it didn't happen...
What the hell is he then? I've always heard him referred to as dubstep.

EDIT: Reading above, apparently he is a "progressive house artist that dabbles in dubstep", whatever the fuck that means.
Well for me deadmaus5 always associate with electro, house and trance.

As for dubbstep deadmau5

there you go, even though Deadmau5 has said that the sometimes disagrees with the state of dubstep

OMG. I'm glad I didn't herd it before.
I like some deadmau5 songs, and I some dubbstep songs, but "One Trick Pony" is defenetly not my cup of tea.
Oh, well... de gustibus non est disputandum

My favorite hardstyle artist, Exphixa, is beginning to make more dubstep. Check out his stuff. It's all really good.

Other than that, everything I wanted to say has been mentioned here. So I'll just add my recommendation to Skrillex, Klaypex, and Excision.

Anyway, most dubstep is kinda ehhhhhh, like anything, but there are some gems.
I believe it has to be noted that for Dubstep lubbers, there's a great Youtube channel over at
http://www.youtube.com/user/UKFDubstep?feature=watch

also, if you're so inclined, it would probably be a shame not to mention Boomkat - give them a browse, some love and some of your hard-earned pennies if so inclined.

Why has no one posted this yet?

I enjoy dubstep, but have not got many good examples at the moment. I will watch this thread and hopefully get some.

Also, I am not sure if this counts, but here it is anyway:

I wonder why people dislike Skrillex? Is it because he made most of his songs on a mac?

Isn't that what everyone does? Or is it because he's popular? I honestly don't get it.

Anyway, I don't mind Skrillex. They're all catchy, they all sound the same.
As much as I hate to use this as a reason, I think a lot of it is kinda hipsterish. I think some people consider dubstep to be a kind of an underground electronic music, and he's taken it more mainstream. Also his dubstep is somewhat light compared to a lot of more prominent dubstep artists. I personally like all of it, him included.

one of my friends just got me into dubstep and he tells me that Skrillex is not a good way to start. He says the good dubstep is from the UK where it started, Opinions?

1st of, welcome to the wonderful world of heavy basslines and hypnotic wubs that is dubstep
I stated with remixes of songs i already knew, the first of these being the darude sandstorm(vaski remix) simply because remixed songs already have a nice memorable beat to them
then one thing lead to another. dubstep can be a bit hard to get into sometimes but give it a shot. UK dubstep is alot more, simple so to speak look at the UKF channel(even though alot of the artists are american) i love that because it goes through all kinds of dubstep.
good hunting

Thanks for the welcome, I'll check UKF channel out is it an online radio? One other thing I heard about it is you need a really good system to truly experience it. Like to feel the wubs and basslines. This I can kinda get into cause I am into hip hop and metal.
