OK....now for the sake of diversity....water levels are NOT allowed. So yes...Torvus Bog and the infamous OoT water temple do not count.

For me....The Wall in the NES American Gladiators game. That and the fire level in the original Battletoads (though i have beaten the game)

The last level of Goldeneye: Rogue Agent. Not that I actually own that travesty of a game, but my casual-gamer cousin forced me to do it for him when I visited him a few months back. Horrible, horrible game, with a horrible, horrible finale.

I counter with, pretty much, the entirety of N [http://www.thewayoftheninja.org/n.html]. Especially the last few columns of levels.

I raise you a lvl in FFX, the second[?] fight agianst Seymour, i think it was Seymour Flux. when he got into that god damned vehicle i spent 5 and a half days of 12 hour lvling before i finally beat that bastard. other then that, the toxic lvl of Sonic Spinball. that entire game messed with my head in bad ways.

CoD4, No Fighting in the War Room on Veteran. Unbelievable.

Not technically a "level", but Carry Me Home in GH2 is frankly revolting from start to finish. Every 5 fails, I started banging my head against the wall and wondering if I could find the developers and beat them senseless with that damned guitar controller.

I'll see your fighting in the war room on veteran and raise you fighting in the TV station. I found that so much harder due to just how many different spawn points there are.

Moving to other games, I can't believe no-one's mentioned the Meat Circus in Psychonauts yet.

Also, defending the mine clearer early on in Quake 4.

I'm surprised that noone has mentioned the battletoads car level. [http://www.retrojunk.com/img/art-images/battletoads1.jpg]

But let us not forget: God of War. Hades. Revolving tower of spikes. That's the kind of level that'll make you invent new swears.

Just so you don't think I'm new to this whole "video game" thing... I missed out on the Contra craze, but I earned my chops in the old school Mega Man games, which were harder than Chinese algebra. And yes, while the tower of spikes was frustrating, the original Mega Man was relentless and utterly unforgiving on my knobby, child thumbs.

ok i know guitar hero 3 isnt a 'level game; but FUCKING JESUS CHRIST COULD THSOE LAST 4 SONGS BE ANY MORE IMPOSSIBLE????? THEN THE FUCKING BOSS BATTLE.....FUCK!!!

also, in 99 nights, which yes was shit easy, my game glitched every time i actually completed the game. i did it four times, and it fucked up every time. i proceeded to throw the disc at a wall. it lived and now it sits in the back of my cabinet wishing it wasnt an ass.

I know it sounds weird, but for me it's the first level that you have to use sneak in Beyond Good and Evil. After playing through the game I've realized I can't change the controls.

So, I have to move around on several conveyor belts, dodging lasers for about 5 minutes. Since my duck button is all the way on the other freakin side of the keyboard I always die around the end of the area. And since the save system is twisted in this game... game over screen galore. Unless I morph into a octopus there is no way of finishing that bit with those controls...

Pretty much the entirety of ninja gaiden (the recent one). I know its not as hard as the originals... but it still took me faaaaar too long and faaaar too many deaths and screaming at the TV to complete.
