How the hell am I suppose to leap from one precarious ledge to another if I can't even see over my own shoulders? What are you trying to do, kill me?!

[small]I mean, seriously, do you KNOW how often I have to do that, working in retail?[/small]

could you zoom in the camera? could you rotate it? if so, it would have no down sides.
No, bwahahahaha. You are stuck viewing directly behind your head or over your shoulder. And no choosing either, you just woke up to find out this happened.

it would be great for cheating on tests and for sneaking and probably if you were a soldier

Well, it would make gun fighting easier. Not having to stick your head out to look around corners would be a valuable skill.

C'mon... If it's my body, then I open the control configuration menu, put in all the relevent functions into my Six Axis, and play ball!

well i think i could deal with an over the shoulder perspective most of the time i would need a zoom function though. ya i could make it work. plus i could zoom out an amaze all my friends by playing video games behind the tv and seeing around corners

It'd be hell, because my body would be in the way of the body of the beautiful girl in front of me. =(

Also, what you mentioned. Picking up things would be a living nightmare.
=D

Yeah that's all very true. And it would seem as though you don't actually get to "experience" it first hand ya know.

Look at it this way: you can now see every fist coming at you in a fight.

And every one of them hitting you as you try to dodge. And if you die some horrible death, the ragdoll effects would be funny right? *sigh*

Wait is this thread saying you wake up one day and you are in third-person or if life was in third-person from the beginning because if we were third-person from the beginning then it wouldn't be bad because everything would be differently modeled to suit our view but if we just woke one day and we were in third-person I wouldn't be able to live in a world like that no-sirry-bob!

I hate third person games. No immersion
Living in third-person will totally get you immersed into a third-person game. You'll play it and think "It's like I'm the third-person vision of this guy if he saw in third-person like me! Which he does."

It'd be pretty annoying, even though I always picture everything in 3rd person for some reason.
You could always take cover, and see things behind you...

I feel your pain

OT yes it would be bad at first, but if you get get past having to slowly move from cover to cover everywhere you go, you should be OK, and you'd either really admire your own body, or become really self conscious

I wouldn't mind it much, provided camera rotation and possibly zooming was an option. Then it would probably be more useful than a first-person view. Also, I'd prefer the default view to be offset, more Gears of War than Oblivion, so I always had a clear view of what was directly in front of me.

I'd be interested to see if I could. I'd probably use it to gain an advantage in navigation, so that'd be good.

But then I'd have to stare at my own ass all the time, and that would be weird.
