Hey guys, I've always thought of video games as a useful tool. They are used to relax, escape from reality, let off some steam, or even to teach. I know there are games out there specifically designed to teach the players certain lessons but sometimes we as gamers learn things the developers might not even have intended. So let me hear about lessons taught to you by video games (good or bad).

Personally I've learned from Splinter Cell Conviction that lights now terrify me and I have an urge to shoot every one of those little bastards every chance I get.

Do not use your most valuable and useful, but finite, assets...ever. You must horde and reserve them in case you need them later.

Bad teamwork is worse than no teamwork.

CHECK THOSE CORNERS!

Don't reach for the stars when your ass is still stuck in the mud (aka don't get your hopes up).

Never trust the system to set you up with the right stuff:

ALWAYS take the time to equip yourself appropriately for your environment.

...

And if things get too tough, take the time and do some exercises relevant to your challenge. A level-up or two in your field of struggle won't hurt...

...

I like RPG's, alright?

Oh, yeah, surveillance counts with unfamiliar guests (libra)

RTS/Civilizaion games have given me an adequate understanding of logistics, and I've used a few of the more advanced civ-managers to test economic theories I've been learning. No, seriously.

If a game tells you to go one way, always go the other way - that's where all the good items are =D
