I try to follow the Buddhist Five Precepts [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Five_Precepts] as good as possible:

- Don't kill
- Don't steal
- Don't lie
- Don't act in sexual misconduct
- Don't do drugs (that lead to loss of mindfulness)
I could get down with that if the Dalai Lama didn't have such backward, ridiculously conservative views about what sexual misconduct is. Having sex in the day is misconduct, homosexuality is misconduct, oral sex is misconduct; the Dalai Lama is more conservative about sex than the Vatican are.

I think you're stretching it a bit. The official view is that sexual conduct should only be for procreation, to keep desire at a minimum. So in this view oral or homosexual sex would obviously fall out. And it would be best to not have intercourse at all, to attain zero physical lust and desire.

But I'm just human and I'm not a monk, so for me "sexual misconduct" stands for only making sweet love to the woman I love.

Try to be a good person and find out the deadline for essays instead of finding them a week before they're due and having to endure a week of no sleep!
Oh and Cogito Sum (yes i'm being picky, cogito ergo sum was not in the meditations and my lifes aim is to destroy the meditations at every chance i get) is a lie or we should put some funny latin word for a strange animal. I think I am a osterich would be a good one.

Your a free individual which possesses a body and a mind, look after both of them as they are your most valuable possessions. Remember that there are two sides to every coin, try to live a balanced life, don't go into excess of anything. Treat others as you would want to be treated by them, happiness can be found in what you already have, do not harm another unless they are harming yourself or an other. Remember that knowledge has an intrinsic value in itself, and that wisdom is more valuable than most people think.

edit: And question everything.

my life philosophy is summed up in marcus aurelius' meditations, which is literally like my bible - i read a little of it every day for an extra boost.
Damn, I need to get a copy of that book sometime, I've started to get into Greek/Roman philosophy and Meditations is one that I want to have a look at.

This quote from Socrates sums it up pretty nicely:
"The unexamined life is not worth living."

Life is what you make of it. Happiness is as relative as speed, and keeping a positive point of view can only serve to help you.

You only have one chance at life, try to spell properly during that time.

No but seriously...

Pain is your friend, it's a bitchy friend that occasionally gives you gifts if you tolerate it for long enough.

That's right, real men delay them until the morning (12 am) that they're due!

What is your Philosiphy/take on life? in the world we live in i've become curious

Mine:You get one shot to do ssomething worht doing always keep that in mind and keep your eyes and ears peeled for that time
Seems very passive don't you think? Waiting for an opportunity to take initiative? Maybe I misread it. I agree with you we've only got one shot (our lives worth) to do something worth doing though.

I don't really have a single philosophy to live with (or one that I can easily quote as my most held dear), though I do have one principle I always keep in mind, wouldn't be surprised if there's a quote for it, but as no specific ones come to mind it is to place rational thinking and logic above emotions, purpose above happiness.

Courage and Duty

You must have Courage to do the Duty. For if you don't, who will?

(Duty: being responsible, kind, and always looking out for others.)

hmmm, well. I hate all that cogito ergo crap. Because you know what? thinking doesnt make it so, whatever it is, except for thought. I mean, trees exist but dont think. All I know is all i can percieve. I like this quote cause it tends to keep my human superiority complex in check

"Think you of the fact that a deaf person cannot hear. Then, what deafness may we not all possess? What senses do we lack that we cannot see and cannot hear another world all around us?"- Frank Hebert

Also, every day i strive for a feeling of nostalgia, so as not to forget the times past, for though they may no longer exist, they still bring me great joy.

As a rule I am both a realist and a dreamer...yes I know how that sounds.
But I dream while still perfectly aware of the gap between reality and dream. Which i like to think keeps me grounded.

Hmmm, when matters of subjectivity become my problem, I try to deal with it in the least dramatic way possible, 'cause I despise drama.(not the art form)

other than that, I live by this philosohpy.
"Do what you want, think what you will."

I'm no saint but I try not to harm others and appreciate others not harming me.
