There is new trailer for the third FFXIII game. I'm looking forward to it as I've enjoyed the previous games.

I think it looks intriguing. It looks like there will be more direct control in combat and there seems to be more freedom of movement for exploring. Not sure what I think of her outfit yet though. The 'Deal with it' pose at the end of the trailer was pretty odd too.

What do you guys think of the trailer? What are you hoping for in Lightning Returns: FFXIII?

As someone who enjoyed Final Fantasy XIII and to this day doesn't think it deserves as bad of a rep as it gets, I hope that this marks the end of all of the Final Fantasy XIII nonsense. Final Fantasy XIII was fine on its own. We didn't need the ridiculousness that XIII-2 brought, and we sure as hell don't need this. All the while, details on Final Fantasy Versus XIII are sparse at best, and we are no closer to a localization of Type-0; two games people actually want.

I'm buying it only because i got the other two . I hated FFXIII-2 , but the collector in me is going to force me to get this game . But i'm sure as hell not buying this day one . I don't care what they do with the game , this could be the best JRPG of FF game EVER , i will not buy this for more than 20$ . XIII-2 was terrible .

Well I enjoyed both XIII and XIII-2 so I'm hoping that this should be as enjoyable

During the gameplay bits, was I the only one that thought she sort of looked like Altair from the first Assassin's Creed, thanks to the wavy coat and everything? XD Particularly when she's jumping.

Holy fuck her new costume and shades look really fucking dumb.
Also, is it just me or is that framerate absolutely awful?

Either way, eh. Never had an interest in the Xlll series, excluding KFJ's LP of Xlll-2.
If nobody I like makes an LP of this I might get it when it's on the cheap, but I doubt I'll be going on about how amazing it is any time soon.

Have yet to play XIII-2, but I have to say I don't like Lightning at all. She's so stale and boring.
I'd rather have Fang as the main character, she's much much cooler.

I'm honestly surprised they are bothering with this. Final Fantasy XII was a better game and it only got Revanent Wings for the DS. Where the heck is Final Fantasy Vs XIII?

*Reads title and gets out his disc smashing axe.

Okay, I'm ready to deal with it. XD

To be fair, it feels like Final Fantasy got stuck in a rut somewhere after they hit Final Fantasy X-2. They could easily have a Final Fantasy where the story centers around characters living in a low magic world, where they use creative gadgetry to mimic spell effects and Bahamut and the summons are names given to various weapon systems, or a world where magic is so rampant that no one really has a physical form anymore.

Sum of the story: More risk taking, less borrowing from older titles that did the same setting and characters better.

....Ok..looks cool...but...

Lighting Returns? Really? I mean I know it probably accurately spells out the game but doesn't it feel like Square Enix is pulling names out from the generic sequel title box? Lighting Returns sounds so....bland. They couldn't come up with anything creative?

Probably because lightning wasn't all that interesting of a character to begin with. Sahz was the most relatable one out of the whole bunch being a father figure and a somewhat reluctant hero. The rest of the characters seemed either alien or only half way fleshed out. Story issues aside, I found the battle system used in Final Fantasy XIII to be incomplete, and the game itself to be overly linear. It needed a way to position characters in order to avoid attacks.

I like XIII and loved XIII-2. However this one seems to lose the old combat system completely with no partners and such. Hopefully it will be similar to Lighting's DLC in XIII-2

I'm looking forward to the game. I like Lightning as a lead character, and Square's efforts to keep reinventing Final Fantasy interest me. The trailer doesn't give away much about the game, but at least it doesn't have the irritating music that some of FF XIII-2's trailers used (the game was fine, I just didn't like its marketing).

XIII-2 fixed nearly all the problems from XIII's battle system except positioning the characters. The things it fixed was the ability to properly upgrade your characters the way you want, Not causing game over when the Character the player is controlling dies, and letting the random encounter system return but combinning it with XIII's way of running into them by having the enemies spawn near you randomly in the overworld. And XIII-2 was not nearly as fucking Linear.

Eh.

Looks ok.

I liked XIII well enough, and XIII-2 did improve the gameplay and have a better villain (even if the rest of it was nonsense)...

Still, I wish they'd gotten it right the first time. If FFXIII had had XIII's story with XIII-2s gameplay it wouldve been a decent game, and they could move on to something more interesting.

Yeah I'm with you. I really liked Final Fantasy XIII despite the general dislike for the game, and I still haven't gotten around to playing Final Fantasy XIII-2 yet.

I would much rather like to see a world wide release of Type-0! I don't really care about Versus as I feel they have given up on that game, so I have too.

I am also tired of seeing MMO type stuff, I just wish they would make another great single-player final fantasy experience. Final Fantasy XIII-2 and 3 might be good though so I won't write them off until I play them.

My personal law of gaming is that a game needs a good villain in order to be enjoyable (with the odd exception.) So if Cauis is not a part of this game, or if there isn't an ass-good villain, then I can gladly tell you that it's gonna be bad.

Actually, I should probably give FFXIII-2 a try. I think the only complaints I've heard of involve the story and possibly the battle system becoming grating.

I didn't realize the trailers were already in English. Yay. I didn't really care for XIII's plot. It was too unfocused, with the constant jumping between characters in the beginning. However, I thought it had potential and once everyone joined up, things got tighter. However, I hated the ending to it. That was a horrible way to end the game. It may appear as sunshine and rainbows, but most of those people are going to die. They've had everything taken care of for them since...well, forever, and they have just been dropped into the middle of their literal Hell without any training. Toast.

So I was happy when XIII-2 came out and fixed that ending, showing that humanity doesn't get wiped out. I also enjoyed the storyline much more and was glad to see the characters as the main focus again--something that was lacking in both XII and XIII. The ending was tragic and I was very glad to hear that they aren't just going to leave things like that. I'm hoping that, by the end of Lightning Returns, Lightning is able to get back home and her life is back to normal.

Eh!! Final Fantasy 13 would have been great if Hope, Vanille, Snow, and Snow's friends had died off in the first five hours of the game. That would have been downright amazing...I have no desire to play the second or third one; I saw Nooj and there's no way in hell I am getting anywhere near a game that was designed by the idiot that greenlit that character.
