No, not really. As established, Linkle isn't a genderbent Link, she's a different character.Samtemdo8 said:Snip
Should I tell my friends that like Linkle that apparently they don't play video games?Buckets said:They could also have just made Saria a playable character instead of the unnecessary gender switch.
Don't see the point in this PC crap, just to please a bunch of idiots that don't even play video games.
Pretty much, god forbid they put some effort and make their own game lore etc gotta highjack already established ip's coz ya know THINK OF THE CHILDRENBuckets said:They could also have just made Saria a playable character instead of the unnecessary gender switch.

I don't understand your complaint here. Are you arguing that Link having a penis is something that will survive death and rebirth, or are you saying Linkle can't be the hero because only Link can be on account of bearing the Triforce of Courage? I think it's clear I don't put much stock in the former argument, but I can at least see the latter one, if we're acting under the assumption that Linkle and Link will exist simultaneously.MarsAtlas said:Any other character I'd be fine with them playing around with a Rule 63 alternate universe version of the, but Link is a reincarnated character. Link is the bearer of the Triforce of Courage and that is Link's most defining characteristic.
Link is a cypher. His soul is demonstrated through his actions, and his actions are determined by the player. If you're the same person playing this game as the last one, then Link has the same soul.MarsAtlas said:You can fudge some of the other stuff and still have made Link. You could make a Link who is Gerudo, a Link who wears a different tunic, a Link who is blind or a Link who doesn't use a sword. Those choices would be a break in tradition but it would further serve to define Link by his most important characteristic, which is his soul.
This. I like Linkle's design (hate the name) but Zelda is an already established character that is central to the franchise. She deserves the spotlight more than anyone else at this point.MC1980 said:Oh, piss off. Zelda as protag or fuck off.
I never got that either when people say they need more representation in media. If you are deriving your self worth from fictional characters in popular media than not having enough options to choose from is the least of your problems especially when its based on such shallow pieces of your personality like gender, race etc.Samtemdo8 said:If you guys are accepting of Link being turned into a female (I don't care what she really is, she's basically a Girl Link) . You might aswell ask for Samus Aran to turn male and call him Samual Aran or Mario a female.
So thanks Moviebob and all those cretins that wanted Link turning into a female that ADDS NOTHING!!!
"Think about what this means to people with questions or fluidities of their own gender"
Only people like you moviebob would think like that if they are taking insipiration.
And didn't Femenists say that this is not progessivism but just making a "Miss Male Character?" Goes to show how inconsistant these people are.
Honestly just give us a game with Zelda as the protaginist. Or Re-introduce Ayrll. Heck call this girl Ayrll instead of Linkle and all will be fine.
I really, really hope this is bad phrasing on your part, because what you just said is, "I don't care if I'm wrong about this because I'll continue to act as if I'm right either way." That's really fucked up.Samtemdo8 said:If you guys are accepting of Link being turned into a female (I don't care what she really is, she's basically a Girl Link)
The main point is the first line about the need to gender switch, if people like Linkle, fine, but this has all come about because of the pressures from the 'more rights for women' kind of shit, most of whom would probably consider video games beneath them anyway.erttheking said:Should I tell my friends that like Linkle that apparently they don't play video games?Buckets said:They could also have just made Saria a playable character instead of the unnecessary gender switch.

an interesting if mentally scarring theoryFulbert said:It's probably not a random choice of name. She may be Link's half-sister, a daughter of his mom and Tingle. Note that compass thingie on her neck and that clock thingie on Tingle's.Eri said:Could we just call her something beside Linkle? That sounds like tinkle. Not a good thing.
Just a coincidence? I think not!
You are misunderstanding or else misrepresenting the general complaint. Though I don't doubt there are people who consider having female avatars in games a right, for the most part, it's about representation; about not feeling invisible to the video games industry nor excluded from it by the lack of representation.Buckets said:This has all come about because of the pressures from the 'more rights for women' kind of shit, most of whom would probably consider video games beneath them anyway.
According to the developers of the Assassin's Creed games, yes, it is absolutely prohibitive.Lightknight said:I know this sounds like a stupid question here. But why can't we choose between either? You know, like at the start of the game you press left or right to select Link or Linkle? Is making a second skin really that difficult?
